I think I used to go to the Prince of Wales once I moved to Moseley. Was that quite a little one on the main road in the other direction from Kings Heath?

janeite · 29/04/2010 21:17

Yep - nice but the loos were foul.

Substandard · 29/04/2010 21:17

Eldin - I did law, very badly! What about you? Seemed to spend more time Lake-side than Wydd

castille · 29/04/2010 21:18

We went to the Brook in the summer to sun ourselves in the beer garden

MrsMiamla · 29/04/2010 21:19

Castille... apology accepted Just a bit of a touchy subject with me, close family member was days away from dying from anorexia and no, she didn't ever live at Griffin!

Gun Barrels...now that's a name i haven't heard in a while! What was the bar in the union called, Old Joes? ooh and there was Berlins in the basement! they used to have some great band nights down there

blametheparents · 29/04/2010 21:20

God, had forgotten about The Brook

MrsMiamla · 29/04/2010 21:22

duckyfuzz...erm.. sorry, I've got a pg foggy brain and an atrocious memory at the best of times! but 'cp' has at least discounted some of the more embarrassing options it could have been!

nigglewiggle · 29/04/2010 21:23

The Jug of Ale in Moseley was where Ocean Colour Scene started out I think.

OhGodItsCod · 29/04/2010 21:32

the brook
many a night on the patchy moss there

tvfriend · 29/04/2010 21:38

Ooh just found this
Was there 88-91 and in the Muirhead Tower too!
Mason Hall
MANY a drunken night in the OVT
Selly Oak
Feeling quite nostalgic now.
can't beleive I did my finals in the very room they are talking/boring me in now!

Will now read the entire thread and figure out if anyone sounds familiar

OhGodItsCod · 29/04/2010 21:39

nigglewiggle · 29/04/2010 21:41

Cod - your DH doesn't have a three letter nickname beginning with P? Or was that the manager of the Brook?

OhGodItsCod · 29/04/2010 21:42

no he was the main man
dh was lackey
oh god. how funny

tvfriend · 29/04/2010 21:42

Bloody hell- can't believe someone married an ACCA

Wheelybug · 29/04/2010 21:42

Eldon - we were weren't me. I knew a couple of chemistry people....

I was also a Griffin person (no eating disorders I don't think...although one of flat mates did I think.). I then lived out in Bournville in my second year and only made it into selly oak in my final year but that was deffo the best year. Lived in Bournbrook Rd.

We used to go to the HIbernian as well as those mentioned.

nigglewiggle · 29/04/2010 21:45

I think Pip got together with a student on my course. It was obviously a perk of working at the OVT .

Lexilicious · 29/04/2010 21:46

PhD, 1999-2004 (grad 2006).
Lived in St Edward's Road. No halls for postgrads. Did the first year of my research in offices (which regularly flooded) in the "sub-great-hall". Right below where they are standing right now. Oooh shivers.

OhGodItsCod · 29/04/2010 21:46

not 5 bournboork road?
sigh.
yes i married an acca. and dh met another one in the toilets ata service staion a few years ago

OhGodItsCod · 29/04/2010 21:46

castille · 29/04/2010 21:47

Actually I had an acca boyfriend for a bit (not the stalker). He was in my year, will have been 1990/1. Shocking behaviour on Wed nights. He wasn't even much good at rugby.

OhGodItsCod · 29/04/2010 21:47

hold on no i am PIG not pip

phew
no getting together ever took place

OhGodItsCod · 29/04/2010 21:48

nigglewiggle · 29/04/2010 21:49

I wasn't suggesting you were the perk!
