What do with think will be in Labour’s budget?

They don’t seem to be giving much away but any indication that they might help kickstart the economy or are we just going to get £2 bus fares, £45 off our elec bill a year and petrol prices on google map? None of Labour polices seem to help anyone that is really struggling but isn’t in receipt of UC! I’m speaking as a single mother who is trying to sell a property to move on with my life but can’t. Yes I know I’ve very fortunate to have bricks and mortar but that doesn’t mean I’m loaded (because the property isn’t worth much)! I feel like everyone is expecting the chancellor pull a rabbit out of a hat but I think we’ll all be very disappointed/pissed off!

A land tax to force pensioners to hand over their houses, so immigrant families can be housed

They have already said that if you leave you home empty too long (over 6 months) the council will take it and use it to rent out to others.

The Triple lock is being reduced to a double lock from 2030, if Labour get back in.

I know. 🙄

Oh just stop with this nonsense. Honestly, can you back up what you are spouting off here? Please do.

Don’t leave it empty then.

I worked 25 years F/T for the NHS in a clinical capacity and was having a third of my salary being taken out in stoppages. As far as I'm concerned I have paid for my pension.

Well, unfortunately for you the rules don’t agree with you. You’re still ten years short. I, on the other hand, had 44 years contributions and I didn’t pay for mine. I paid the pensions of my parents’ and grandparents’ generations. The next generations are paying mine.

According to the "rules" I still get an NHS pension but not a full one.

pointythings · 13/10/2026 11:57

I was thinking of something more recent than a 12 year old article, and am not impressed by the assumption that Muslims don't work. This is a 2/10 fail.

Well someone has to pay for the amount of people needing UC top ups, due to them not being paid enough, from their jobs to support their living needs.

I don’t k ow who introduced UC top ups to low wages, but whoever did gave the biggest ever financial gift to big business at the expense of the UK taxpayer.

I work for a large corporate. I’ve seen equivalent wages for the same roles across Europe. Those companies can and will pay higher rates for their staff. They would do here too, except they don’t have too because taxpayers will top up the low UK salaries they pay.

Ridiculous.

Any idea how long probate takes - obviously not ?

You won’t get a state pension with 25 years contributions. You didn’t specify which you thought you’d paid for.

Yes. It was less than three months on both my parents’ estates. Next?

I used to work in healthcare and have the evidence of my own eyes,

Plus - https://committees.parliament.uk/writtenevidence/106165/html/

and this explains why Muslim women have problems with employment

Good. If you aren't living in it then you don't need it

It can be a lot longer than that.
No need to be snippy.

Your property to do what you want with, not for the council to seize it and possibly put house trashers in it.

Noone needs to hoard property while others go homeless

Ilovebakewelltarts · 13/10/2026 12:09

OK have it your own way.
I still think he was set up.
I wonder if the fact he was Jewish had anything to do with it?

What if it's a rental property and tenants can't be found within 6 months?

tenpairsofshoes · 13/10/2026 12:12

@BlakeCarringtongod I didn’t even think about this! Insanity!

I was talking about an NHS pension.
I worked in other areas after I left the NHS and will get a full State Pension.

Reduce the rent?

Waiting for probate is hardly "hoarding property".!

dustabsorber · 13/10/2026 12:13

Exactly. Unlikely anyway, there are always lots of applications for rental property unless it’s a shithole.

Most people on UC aren't in work.

Noone needs to hoard property while others go homeless.

I have three rental properties. All rented to internation students.

Each paid for with cash I have earned. The income is intended to top up my state pension.

Why should any of them be taken to provide for others?
