Greens adopt policy treating Zionism as racism

The Greens have formally adopted a policy which equates Zionism with racism, a move that will dismay the bulk of the party’s MPs and has alarmed some Jewish members.

In a vote on Sunday at the party’s annual conference in Brighton about whether to back a motion which calls for Zionism, the movement for a Jewish state, to be “treated as any other form of racism”, it passed by 1,022 votes to 813.

The motion, which is now formal policy for the Greens in England and Wales, also calls for a single Palestinian state in place of Israel “with equal rights for all”.

Four of the party’s five MPs have condemned the motion, as did Caroline Lucas, the former leader who was the Greens’ first MP.

Adrian Ramsay, who co-led the Greens before Polanski, said in a statement he would vote against it, as it set out what sort of Palestinian state should exist without taking into account the self-determination of Israelis and Palestinians.

Siân Berry, another of the MPs, made the same point.

Carla Denyer, the Bristol Central MP who was co-leader with Ramsay, said the wording “risks alienating a significant proportion of Jewish people, including those who vehemently disagree with the Israeli government”.

Another Green MP, Ellie Chowns, said the motion “risks fuelling division, and risks undermining the party’s ability to advocate effectively for justice and peace”.

I mused the other day whether I would vote Reform to keep the Greens out.

I would and am not ashamed to admit it.

Reform are dangerous and would be a disaster for the country but the Greens would be a bigger and more immediate threat.

Yes it will really be disastrous if we have to choose rank incompetence and cronyism but at least being left alone over a liberty trampling aggressive ideological movement that would step your rights away in a heartbeat if you uttered wrong speak.

Russia or Iran, what a choice.

5MinuteArgument · 08/10/2026 09:45

It will be ever more important in the future for Israel to be strong and well defended as Islam grows in power and influence in Europe, especially in our cities.

There's no reversing the trends that we're seeing. Where will we be in 10 or 20 years if we continue down the same path?

Unless we learn quickly from what's happening in Denmark and it's scandinavian neighbours.

Can't see that happening unfortunately. Too many vested interests and activist lawyers. As Europe starts to wake up to the growing power of Islam, the UK is still fast asleep.

Many countries now have taken action including banning the niqab as a way of pushing back against fundamentalist Islam, France, Austria, Denmark, Belgium. It won't happen in the UK. Therefore we risk becoming Jihadi Central and that's bad news for British Jews and everyone else.

The other important step in Denmark is integration.

Church leaders concerned over Green Party motion defining Zionism as racism

A statement from a group of Church of England Diocesan Inter Faith Advisers said they were "compelled to express our concern" about the Green Party vote and what they described as "antizionist rhetoric".

The advisers said the motion did not define what was meant by the term Zionism and argued that this was particularly concerning for Jewish communities.

They added that the decision risked "further eroding the trust" built between Jewish communities, the Church of England and wider society.

The advisers also pointed to what they described as a wider pattern in public life, including the dismissal or minimisation of the Hamas-led attacks of 7 October 2023, the use of the term "genocide", debates within the Church of England and concerns about pro-Palestinian demonstrations held near synagogues.

The statement, which has the backing of the bishop of Manchester, Birmingham and Aston, said the Green Party motion "dismisses as inherently racist the idea of Zionism", which they said for many Jewish people represented a longstanding desire for "safety, home, belonging and self-determination".

The thing is Muslim countries are very hot on trying to curb the powers of these people. Countries like Lebanon and Egypt are in a constant running battle to stop their countries turning into Islamist shitholes run by these violent extremists. The UAE have stopped their students coming to the UK in case they are radicalised and come back home to cause trouble there, yet naive Lefties, mostly White see no difference between fundamentalist and moderate Islam and have embraced fundamentalism with open arms. Labour have done nothing to court the moderate Muslims vote, which would be done by just talking about things everyone wants- decent schools, jobs, safe communities etc instead they have kowtowed to ' community leaders' who say they speak for their community, but I doubt they speak for anyone not prepared to do as they say. And the kowtowing doesn't even work, because nothing is ever enough.

The C of E has a very long way to go.
There are some saner voices within it, but there has long been a strong pro-Palestinian wing.

Bishop Lusa (Bishop of Willesden) has also spoken out against it as has Bishop Anderson (Diocese of London). And the Bishop of Chelmsford, Rt Rev Dr Guli Francis-Dehqani.

Not denying all the Bishops should speak out against it (as should leaders from all religions in the UK) but it's something.

Yes, when are the moderate Muslims that we hear so much about going to speak out against it? Have any imams made a statement in support of British Jews? No, didn't think so.

Apologies if someone else has already mentioned this and I missed it, but it turns out that Hannah Spencer missed the vote at the party conference because like Polanski, she was not present. She was campaigning with him in London, apparently. How fortunate for both of them.

They both know what's going on. They just can't afford to be held to account for it. The party's infiltrators have bigger plans for them.

This one, Imam Tawhidi made a brilliant statement

I will not start by saying ‘as a Muslim’ or ‘as an imam’, but as a human being.

On October 7, over 1,200 innocent people were killed in a single day. Families were shot in their homes. Young people out dancing were hunted across open fields. Over 250 people, including children and the elderly, were dragged into Gaza as hostages. I think of a mother hiding in a safe room with her baby’s mouth covered. I think of a father listening as the line went quiet. I think of families who waited month after month for someone to come home, only to receive a coffin. I didn’t need my faith to recognize the evil of what happened. My heart told me first.

But I’m a Muslim and an imam, and I owe the world one honest sentence: what was done that day was a crime against God. God teaches that whoever kills one innocent soul, it is as if he had killed all humanity.

This day has an author: Yahya Sinwar. He planned it, ordered it, and knew what would follow. Every death of that day and war he started rests on him and Hamas leaders who sat in tunnels and foreign hotels and called slaughter a victory. It rests on every Palestinian leader who cheered, excused, handed out sweets, or said nothing. They chose this. They own it.

But Sinwar did not invent himself. He was the fruit of a tree planted almost a century ago by the Muslim Brotherhood. Hamas named itself in its founding charter as the Brotherhood’s branch in Palestine. The Brotherhood’s poison is slow. It arrives through study circles, youth camps, charity boxes, and kind words to lonely young men. Drop by drop, it teaches him that his religion is a political party, his neighbour is his enemy, the Jew is the cause of his sorrow, and God is pleased by rage. By the time the gun arrives, the soul is already taken.

I have seen this poison in mosques where sermons became rallies and young men could recite slogans but not sit still for a verse on mercy. Every people that let the Brotherhood in has paid in blood and ruined generations. It has never built anything it did not first set on fire.

Behind Hamas stands another hand: the IRGC. It was the IRGC’s money, weapons, and training that turned a hateful idea into an army. One calls itself Sunni and the other Shia, and they may curse each other’s creeds, but they are united in what they worship. It is not God. It is power. The same IRGC that armed the killers of October 7 shoots Iranian girls for showing their hair, hangs young men for asking to be free, and has left graves from Tehran to Damascus to Beirut. They speak in God’s name. So did Pharaoh speak in the name of heaven.

So let me say this clearly. Hamas and the IRGC are not merely enemies of Islam. That would be too small a charge, as if their crime were only against us. They are enemies of God. God is the Giver of life, yet they deal in death. God calls Himself the Most Merciful, yet they have made cruelty a sacrament. God honoured the children of Adam, yet they look at a child and see a target or a shield. To murder what God created and sign His name to it is the oldest blasphemy.

And we Muslims have been too quiet. Some of us were afraid. Some told ourselves it was not our business. Some, God forgive them, felt something other than horror that morning and never confessed it. Silence was the soil this poison grew in. I will not add to it.

So on this anniversary, let us say plainly what our scripture already says. The Jews are not our enemies. They are our cousins in Abraham, and their dead were created by the same God who created us. Today belongs to them: the murdered, the hostages, and families who still set a place at the table. To them I say: I am sorry for what was done to you by men who used the words of my prayers. You’re not alone in your grief or remembrance.

The enemies of God are those who murder in His name. We know their names. It is time we said them from our own pulpits, in our own voices, before they speak for us again.

Fair, however I think we also need to consider who are more likely to achieve power in the immediate future. At one point Farage was very likely to be PM, that may be getting less likely, particularly with the Tories ruling themselves out of any coalition. But that danger of power is pressing (not least on the personal level of considering Suella Braverman as Education Secretary).
