I just gave you an example of Farage being an expert on fisheries, but being crap at fisheries. Or are you saying Farage is not an expert at fisheries ?

Did you click that article I linked ? Because see here-

"To add insult to injury, it appears that the trawler Farage used for his publicity stunt on the Thames “was caught up in the UK’s largest ever fraud involving illegal catches of fish and is now partly owned by one of the richest fishing barons in the country”, according to another report from Greenpeace."

Oh look. Seems to be another rich mate doing favours for his "hero of the working class" pall. Bit of a trend here.

We can dwell a bit longer on fisheries. Farage is the expert. Undisputed it seems. Now lets look at 2026-

How Brexit sold out Britain's fishermen - from fishing rights to declining fleet - The Mirror

Now. This is your chance to totally debunk all this. Just find and post the stats on the UK seafood industry that Farage has saved and turned around.

And yes, I changed from "fisheries" to "seafood" in the above sentence, Not to move the goalposts, but because that is what it is classed as in data. And before anyone says "But Farage is not in power". That does not matter. Because he promised Brexit would make it BOOM. And it did go BOOM.

Unless of course there is a conspiracy here ? Yet another one. That the Tories and Labour have conspired to "do something" to that industry, to you know, make Nigel look bad.

You are joking the Mirror, oh please! You seem to be banding about a lot of whataboutery! Farage is not in charge, never been in charge, was not in charge of Brexit. So unsure what your point is? Are you annoyed that he didn’t attend the fisheries meeting? Standards in political life should apply to all parties, Labour do not get a free pass, neither do the Conservatives or Reform. When or if Farage is found guilty/not guilty then maybe write to him and tell him how unhappy you are with his past in the fisheries. Maybe that is your problem try living today not 22 years ago.

No nerves touched here!

Can I ask have you ever ran a business? Yes the fastest growing, slightly, in the G7 because the other 3 major European countries are doing badly. We are by no means doing well with growth, but obviously if you do have business experience you will understand that. Unemployment up slightly? Maybe check your figures. Apprenticeships down due Government policies. We actually received more money when taking on apprentices from the Conservatives. So what plan to deal with the NEETs? Technical Qualifications, yes we already had that! Immigration down, not by enough and to be honest that is not down to Labour. 2023 after Covid? Trumps war? So our utility bills are higher due to the cost of oil and also the extra tax burden we pay in the U.K.. Blimey I think some people live in fluffy bunny land, not reality land.

So growth is up, unemployment is up 0.35%, the government intends to kick start apprenticeship schemes to deal with youth unemployment, immigration has virtually halved since 2024 so who is responsible? Our utility bills are higher, so is the cost of transport which has impacted the cost of food and everything else we buy as well as putting petrol in our cars - it’s gone up by around 50% since February. I live in the real world, not one of made up “facts” concocted purely to criticise the government.

Oh sorry yes this is a Reform bashing thread! Though this was a chat forum? So we are only allowed to slag off Reform but cannot use comparisons to other political parties? I am afraid we will have to disagree on that one as I personally think every party should be held to the same standard. I have also just realised the you are the OP on another Reform bashing thread.

Quote " Oh sorry yes this is a Reform bashing thread!"

No. Its not. It's a thread about "Channel 4 undercover re Farage ".

And what has happened is that some pro Farage posters are posting. And given that Pro Farage posters tend to be, can we say," be rather diversionary", it has become a bit of a factchecking thread re these diversions that are being thrown in. As we tread water and chew the cud while we wait for news.

Right. Can we go back to Farage and fish as we wait for news.

I heard North Sea fish now have little union jacks tattooed on their dorsal fins now. Is that true?

Union Jack or Union flag? Well, fish are Naval. They probably hum " Rule Britannia" these days too, with their wee blue passports held aloft... somehow. "You can't catch me Johnny Foreiger, I belong to them over there".

Growth is up slightly and very slightly. Good luck with the apprenticeship scheme! Apprenticeships are down because of this Governments policies. Immigration has halved mainly due to the dependants act, higher wage threshold, Tory policies. Employees returning to their home country. Illegal immigrants have actually risen. Yes cost of living/utilities risen gas/electricity/petrol but also because we pay high tax on those. So please don’t make out they are made up/concocted facts. Do you run a business or have ran a business, as you seem rather naive.

Sorry not interested in the price of fish! Rather boring to be honest prefer to live in the hear and now. Not saying you are an old timer but those who are seem to live in the past. I would stick to the tea really it is only 5ish.

What’s so magical about running a business? I can assure you I’m far from naive, I just have a weakness for evidenced facts even if I find them unpalatable.

I don't understand why 'has run a business ' is the gold standard for expertise for some people. Politics needs a mix of people. Businesses are inherently there to make profits. This clashes with the needs of workers. Balance is needed.

The number of small boat arrivals, to give them their correct name, is not up. It's down. Lies are an unbecoming tactic.

Well if you did run or have ran a business you would understand the full implications of some of Labours policies. I have given you evidenced facts. I find Labours policies unpalatable.

I hope you are not calling me a liar? Course politics need a mix of people, unfortunately this Government lacks anybody with any business expertise, hence the policies they have implemented. Think you will find most business employers look after their employees. Without private sector growth we are snookered. Unless you believe in the money tree?

What on earth ?

Fish are core to the message Farage broadcasts. It has been a massive part of his campaign for decades. And now you dismiss it as an " old timer " thing ?

As @BIossomtoes just posted, If I may quote you BIossomtoes- " I just have a weakness for evidenced facts even if I find them unpalatable."

I was expecting you, Worrall, to come back with a pile of facts about how Farage and his fish/seafood policy had shown him to be a total expert on the subject, as he had spent decades claiming to be. Even if your facts proved my hypothesis that he knows nowt about it... wrong.

Anyway, thanks to your posts we might have an addition to our list about Nigel's corruption. Let's check...

Potential connections to "big fish" players. Oh.. goodness gracious me.. look at this. I have literarily just done a search and .....

Nigel Farage watchdog probe 'centres on mysterious fishing boat' - Mirror Online

"The Reform UK leader bragged in April that he was the only MP "that has a financial stake in the commercial fishing industry" - revealing he owns a commercial boat with a skipper. But there is no mention of this in his register of interests."

Is there no end to this corruption ?

Quick Worrall, Pick a subject Farage has talked about. Let's look into it for anything dodgy. Does he play table tennis perhaps ? Has he talked about it ?

Jezzz. It's not a bigger boat we need, it's a bigger spreadsheet ... to keep track.

The Mirror again! Sorry not reading anything in the Mirror. Find it amazing that old articles, which have obviously been checked out? No charges? Nothing? Why on earth would I be interested in Farage and Fish? Obviously you have an inherent interest in Farage and fish? I was going to say grow up Al but think you are already very very grown up.

You can buy a lot of fish for £5m

Oysters for example when meeting potential overseas donors

Right. So we are at the "biased news", and "you are obsessed" stage.

Next we get the semantics stage.

How about we hold back from all that, and we dwell on the "presenting facts and data" stage. have a conversation about the "facts and data", discuss, make conclusions based on said "facts and data", disagree, and then go straight to the insults stage ?

@Worrall20

I am sincerely sorry if I am coming across as short and snappy here. I happen to also be posting on a Reform thread, and it can be difficult to quickly switch between stages on conversation. The other thread is firmly in the" insult stage", I know I am not switching "conversation stage mode" fast enough. And for that, my honest apologies.

Right. Back to Farage and his fish.

Do we have any evidence that Farage done fantastic work in his years as a member of the EU fisheries committee?

Over to you.

And two of them resigned. And are now subject to police investigation. It's a good thing they are literal society elites and can afford good lawyers. And more oysters and wine.

Sorry for that last bit. I think that is my working class chip on shoulder showing. You know. a resentment that I can't explain about how these bourgeoisie think they can somehow step in and claim to be putting the interests of the of the proletariat first... by pushing far right and conservative evangelical policies.

Wonder how Orr is coping in his "benedictine" compound with his wife, the "Abbess of the Moorings".

Maybe they are sat around with their fellow great minds, the handpicked cream of the crop, discussing how to put their "social housing only for young married couples" policy through. Wonder if they have emailed Kemi ?

Over to you.

Well ‘Al’ I am also sorry if my replies to you do not satisfy and come across as dismissive.

Back to Farage and unfortunately his fish. I have told you I have no interest in Farage and his fish. Do not understand the relevance and don’t want to, to be honest.

I replied on this thread because the same culprits, who think they are so right, or should that be left are always on slagging Reform/Conservatives off! Say anything about Labour they don’t like it, which is very hypercritical.

The point I am making is that all political parties must abide by the rules. If Farage has done anything wrong then he will be guilty and inflicted with the same punishment as other political parties, but not as in the case of Rayner, Haigh, Reynolds etc.

I expect politicians to lead by example not do as I say not as I do. *

So ‘Al’ hope you don’t mind me calling you that, please do not ask me about Farage and Fish again. Thanking you
