@RedTagAlan

How about I don't ask a question. And just do a post that includes this "Both Labour and Tories have an incentive for the current influx of people into the country to continue"

That post has already been made. As has:

beholden to their friends in big business", "globalists", fool the British public".

and

." Both Labour and Tories have an incentive for the current influx of people into the country to continue",

Regards Conservatives and Labour, maybe they do want immigration to continue, but for different reasons. Hence no need to communicate or conspire.

Both have promised to reduce immigration to 10s of thousands for decades, but it has not happened. So, either they are not interested whether immigration goes up or down, or they gain from immigration.

Why are you saying different things to different political demographics ?

I am not policing anything. I am just posting observations, on a thread about Reform being caught being dishonest.

Just chatting, that is all.

It's up to readers to decide if there is any irony here. In my observations I mean.

Immigration numbers are down

Investigations into Reform are up.

EEexpat · 26/09/2026 18:45

@DuncinToffee

Immigration numbers are down

Is that not due to the fact that unauthorised entries into the EU fell by 25% in 2025 and a further 37% in the first half of 2026? Link is:

Investigations into Reform are up

Correct, but investigations are not yet complete. Being investigated does not establish guilt.

I have been investigated twice by HMRC. First time for the period 1995 to 2004. I still remember my euphoria this day when the outcome was HMRC owed me.

Second time was earlier this year. They wanted clarification on travel expenses I had claimed. That too came to nothing.

Even if Reform are found to be guilty of wrongdoing in each investigation, how will remain supporters have gained?

Q&A: Why have small boat arrivals declined in 2026? - Migration Observatory

Small boat arrivals declined significantly in the first seven months of 2026. This commentary analyses the numbers and explains what we can – and cannot – know about the reasons for the decline.

DuncinToffee · 26/09/2026 19:07

The statistics on immigration are easily found , they are about more than asylum seekers using small boats.

The number of investigations into Reform are quite something, aren't they.

Being caught on camera is helpful.

EEexpat · 26/09/2026 19:27

@DuncinToffee

Okay. So, if immigration has declined (which is good), what happened to the previous remain argument that increased immigration was due to Brexit?

Investigations are not yet concluded. Even if Reform are found guilty of wrongdoing, how will remain supporters have gained?

Will the UK receive a letter from the EU which states:

Dear UK,

Subsequent to Reform being found guilty, we confirm the following:

Events since 23 June 2016 are deemed never to have happened.

UK will be a member of the EU as before. However, as a bonus for Reform being found guilty, the UK will not be required to make payments to the EU, but UK will be paid by the EU.

The US has agreed to lower tariffs on the EU to the same level as those applied to UK whilst it was not a member of the EU.

Those on the BBC QT panel on 24 September 2026 who said UK should not rejoin the EU will be jailed.

DuncinToffee · 26/09/2026 19:35

What does Reform being investigated have to do with the EU Confused

Unless you are referring to Russian influence?

If Farage/Reform are found guilty of anything then it should be dealt with. However since being in power we had scandals, dishonesty and incompetence by this Labour Government, does that not worry you?

Did any of those investigated scandals lead to anything?

If Reform have done nothing wrong then they have nothing to worry about

Exactly my point, Reform should be thoroughly investigated. If you mean Labour scandals where do you want me to start?

DuncinToffee · 26/09/2026 19:49

Nowhere as this is a thread about Reform.

Feel free to list them. And the outcomes.

And then you can tell us how they compare to the Reform leadership repeatedly laughing at their supporters assaulting a woman. Because that happened, and is recorded for posterity.

I have already stated that it should be fully investigated. The point I was making is that the same should apply to all Political Parties.

Mandela and his involvement with a paedophile? That happened and is recorded for posterity. Haigh convicted fraudster, yet appointed to the front bench. Also happened and recorded for posterity. Reynolds lied saying he was a solicitor he is not, also happened and recorded for posterity. Rayner did not pay the correct tax, breached in the ministerial code happened and is recorded for posterity. Now whilst that is only a few could continue e.gTulip Saddiq etc .

Just pointing out again, that any criminality/lies should be called out regarding any of the political parties.

Why? It's not like there haven't been loads of threads discussing Labour.

For this thread it feels very much like whataboutery.

Very true indeed! Lots of whataboutery on those thread too.

Yes there was. And posters got jumped upon on doing so.

Neither Labour or Conservatives have found themselves in the position Reform is in right now.

Worrall20 · 26/09/2026 22:52

Although to be fair Labour campaigned on a platform of restoring integrity and cleaning up politics and as of to date have achieved neither. Don’t vote Reform but don’t think they have been found guilty of anything yet?

Apart from Nathan Gill!

DuncinToffee · 26/09/2026 23:14

Nathan Gill was a pretty big case with Farage saying he never met the guy.

Labour messed up with their expenses, they did declare them though. And Rayner was investigated and had daily newspaper articles scrutinising her entire life.

EEexpat · 27/09/2026 08:57

@DuncinToffee

Rayner paid the stamp duty after she had been caught not paying. She was later appointed housing minister.

So, if Farage is found of wrongdoing over the £5 million, could he not just return it and wipe the slate clean like Rayner did?

DuncinToffee · 27/09/2026 09:09

If Farage is found to have done nothing wrong, he can keep his £5m and continue working as an MP.

I disagree with Rayner bring in cabinet.

I daresay Farage could return the money. What he has not spent of course. I suppose he can always find another dodgy person to make up the difference.

But the 5 mil is not the big thing. The big thing, that is in the title of the thread, is the potential criminal charges for taking foreign money and hiding where it came from. Is that not what we are talking about ?

EEexpat · 27/09/2026 09:56

@RedTagAlan

I also think it was a mistake by Burham to appoint Rayner as housing minister after being discovered attempting to avoid payment of stamp duty. Which is effectively cheating the government. However, they are both mates and from Manchester.

for taking foreign money and hiding where it came from. Is that not what we are talking about?

Yes. That’s the main principle. I can’t work out why he did not declare what he had received and from whom.

What would have been the disadvantage? Even if he wins argument it was a gift, will he not then be liable for tax?

BIossomtoes · 27/09/2026 10:06

I think this is possibly the first time I’ve ever disagreed with you @RedTagAlan! I’m delighted Rayner’s back in cabinet, her unique insight into the social care system from a care worker’s perspective is invaluable to Burnham’s commitment to reforming it.

There's a big fundamental difference in making an arrangement to look after your disabled child who is now an adult and what Farage has done.
It's a problem that the ethics advisor who advised Kier didn't highlight this. However it does seem a bit obvious to me. Whose ethics exactly was he reflecting?
I personally don't think families making such arrangements for disabled family members should be taxed like this. It's not like there was any doubt that that was a factor. .
5 million to support a racist endeavour and as a reward for a Brexit that cost billions ( not for billionaires) and to advantage billions naires so they can pay even less UK tax-
You don't have to be an accountant. The two things are qualitatively different.

It's common sense
