It's been described as "stochastic terrorism"

"the use of mass media by public figures to demonize a person or group, raising the statistical probability of ideologically motivated violence by unknown individual actors while maintaining plausible deniability".

So there's a term for it? It makes a lot of sense. We see it again and again.

MaturingCheeseball · 06/10/2026 17:27

It doesn’t surprise me. Using lone wolves to commit murder or assassinations through suggestion and encouragement is a bullseye for any bad actor.

Thanks for the update. He's been a very busy man.

Hit list said to include Kemi Badenoch and Rosie Duffield

Oh what a surprise. Poor little lamb so scared of strong women.

And Tom Tugendhat, who was a reservist and intelligence officer.

Do we think that given these revelations the security services are actually starting to take these lone nutter terrorists seriously now?

I put the names into chat gtp and asked them to find issues that they all had common views on, and the only one out came up with was gender issues...

I'm not saying it's right obviously, but interesting that there's no other obvious common ground.

Quite a few comments on the Politics UK Twix run along the same lines.

I knew you would say this before I read it, as I can't imagine Rosie and Kemi having much else in common.

From the BBC News site today:

'The man accused of murdering Ann Widdecombe had a "particular hostility to Reform", prosecutors alleged on Friday.

They said Joshua Kerry, 28, "had an extreme left wing and/or anti-establishment mindset".

The prosecution also told the Old Bailey Widdecombe's murder had a "terrorist connection" as it was "politically and ideologically motivated"."

Similar coverage on the Metro's site.

Terrorists come in all shapes and sizes but terrorists is what they remain. Glad that thing doesn't represent my wing of politics.
