I’ve read not posted on these threads but bloody hell. The first ones were full of maybe she fell down the stairs in her bungalow, then it must’ve been a burglary gone wrong, now it’s it can’t possibly be this guy because he lived in Rotherham.

If you were to set off now from Rotherham you’d get to Haytor at 12 and I put in Gloucester and it’s two and a half hours from Rotherham which sounds about right so give it a rest.

The older I get the more I respect female politicians regardless of their political viewpoints as it must be so difficult to get anywhere in that system. Also women having strong opinions and being in the public eye is unusual too. Ann was a unique woman and her murder has really upset me.

It's like the guy who drove into the crowd in Liverpool - he must have PTSD; It's a different guy in the AI photo; he must have panicked; he's a scapegoat; he looks like a decent family man.
Then it turned out, he was a nutter who hadn't served in active duty; did not have PTSD; the photo was an AI image from grainy CCTV; he had already driven erratically and dangerously before getting to the city centre; he's not a scapegoat; and the new images showed someone who looked pretty scary.

It's no coincidence that the only photo of this guy so far is a nice photo of him from four years ago, doing a charity event.
The media know what they're doing to generate comments and clicks.

The stuff I've seen on Facebook says this. It also variously blames Keir Starmer, Nigel Farage, Andy Burnham, says she knew too much, the guy is a "patsy", drags up David Kelly, Jill Dando, suggests Rik Mayall was bumped off, repeatedly says it's fishy, asks why are we not being told the truth, it's the deep state, they must think we're all stupid, asks when can we see the video (which is AI) and says the police are complete liars. I really didn't realise how weird people are.

Oh and she's not dead at all she's in hiding.

If the man is a loner he probably isn’t prolific on social media, his family are not necessarily going to share a photo with the media, so the photo we are seeing is probably the only one the press have

And it is human nature surely to think of reasons why someone would commit such a crime. And the reporting of this has been slightly strange. The news first came out she died, no mention of murder. I saw the news she had died then went into a meeting. Came out of the meeting and the news had changed to murder.

The bungalow is a dormer bungalow so must have stairs, so falling downstairs was a possibility. Initial reports said they didn’t no cause of death (you would think 21 hammer blows would make it obvious not a fall etc)

It does seem so improbable that someone would drive that far to kill AW and drive back again. Not saying it didn’t happen

I also find it strange how much detail is now allowed to the public. How many of us if called up to be on the jury could say we know nothing about the case or currently say we don’t think he is guilty

I think you are just a shit driver. I use Google maps all the time for navigation and it is always very accurate in timing, particularly if put in the day and time you are travelling.

Out of respect for Ann, I hope these conspiracy theories or rehashing them from outside MN, can please stop.

It has been an eye opener to see how people seize on one detail and run away with it...like the Ring doorbell and comparing travel times. Because the gardener was asked to do a welfare check I've seen a few people confusing the gardener with the first person to be arrested, they can't get past it being two different people. With such a high proportion of the population having very poor comprehension skills I suppose that contributes to them reading irrelevent stuff on the internet and making 2 + 2 = 5.

My own query relates to who is the registered keeper of the car. Could it actually be Kerry's brother? I've read that his brother relocated from Rotherham to the West Country a few years ago. Maybe he left the car behind but updated his own address? DVLA would then send the police to him when the number was checked, and he would (if so) be a suspect.

I agree that Google maps is accurate with timing. I can get from an hour east of Rotherham to past Newquay in Cornwall in 6.5 hours and that’s towing a caravan. I’ve just checked google maps and it says current journey time of 6 hrs to west Cornwall from my house. I could definitely get Rotherham to haytor in a bit over 4 hours if traffic was ok.

But, if it's all a conspiracy of some sort, why would they come up with an "improbable" storyline? Why raise lots of questions and draw attention to the oddness of it all?

When her death was announced, I can imagine that was to get the news out there in a dignified and respectful way, maybe?
I think it was her agent who announced it. They're hardly going to release info when the police will have asked them not to speculate.

When Rob and Michele Reiner were murdered, the intial announcement didn't mention that either.

They said after it was announced she was dead but that they knew it was murder but hadn’t been able to inform her family first. They announced she had died because that was becoming public knowledge, her management team, the people who she was meant to be speaking to, locals seeing the police and ambulance etc. But they didn’t want family finding out via the news that it was murder.

The initial announcement of her death was made by her agent to inform the public. Perhaps she was asked by the police not to divulge circumstances but she also probably wanted to give people a chance to pay tributes rather than focus on how she died.

Once police reviewed the cctv they can see how the murder happened and the vehicle used. Either they got the reg plate from Ann’s footage or somewhere nearby and then just find the keeper and track it on ANPR from the day. Not hard. He’s a physical match to CCTV from her house, has the car and apparently has photos of her ID.

This is a horrific crime and I hope the person responsible faces justice.

@Choux The links don’t work. Of course the information about her death was initially minimal even though the police would have known immediately that she’d been attacked. This would have been to give time to contact relatives and friends; it’s called human decency.

I don’t blame the agent for not disclosing the information. I’m sure they were in shock and really it’s too big a deal and should come from police.

If what is said here is the case that is really sad.

I've done that drive from Lancashire to Devon many many times & NO WAY is it possible to achieve that time/drive, even with no stops (& I always avoided rush-hour!). Doesn't add up.

Even when the police said there had been an attack people were still saying maybe the police had got confused and she had actually fallen down the stairs on these threads. Absolutely bonkers. Something has happened to people’s ability to comprehend information outside of their own experience or maybe it has always been like that it’s just you never heard from those people unless you knew them before they could go online.

Jurors must not have personal knowledge of the defendant, victim, witnesses, or the crime scene, but having read about it in the press is ok. However, you must be able to put aside what you have heard and decide the case purely on the evidence presented in court.

I am with @LuckyHazelFox . I think we shpuld all stop speculating now and wait for the trial.

So have I, for family reasons. It absolutely is possible. It depends on traffic, and it can occasionally take up to 6 hours, but most times it takes me a little under 4.5 hours to get from north of Liverpool to that part of Devon without speeding.

From Rotherham to Haytor is around 280 miles, almost entirely on motorways or dual carriageway main roads. Doing it in 4.5 hours represents an average speed of 62mph. Since I would expect to do most of the journey at around 70mph, an average of 62mph should be achievable.

@prh47bridge have you been on the M5 lately? Facebook pages for area round Bristol/Somerset have comments about saying it would be easier to say when it is open rather than closed as there seem to be daily incidents that lead to closures and huge tailbacks which can delay your journey for hours.
