They seem absolutely clear it wasn’t politically motivated or terrorism, so does that mean it’s likely to be family?

No and hee family have commented, it is more likely it’s someone with a grudge, could be a workman she had a disagreement with, anything.

id really not post shit asking if it was her family, as that’s really fucking insensitive.

They absolutely have not said that. They have said there is no indication up until now but they are keeping an open mind.

I think that she has only one brother Malcom who is a retired Anglican priest, he seems an unlikely suspect.

The police haven’t ruled out political motives completely:

‘At this time, there is still no information to suggest that this is a terrorism related incident. And at this point we are not looking for anyone else in connection with the murder. We retain primacy of this investigation and Detectives remain open minded about any potential motive, but at this stage there is nothing to suggest that it was politically motivated.’

Other motives could be burglary (unlikely) someone she had some dealings with who had a grudge, a random mentality ill man, etc etc.

there was no evidence to suggest a political or terror motive at this stage.

Hopefully Faright will wind his neck in now.

I very much doubt it.

I just read an article on her last text messages. She was clearly working well at 78. I’m glad she had people around her who cared and immediately checked up on her.

But it’s really sad, what an awful thing to happen.

Ann was found the following day after the killing. Here's a timeline of the awful events.

But the police have now issued a statement asking people not to speculate on line.

The police were equally insistent that people shouldn't "speculate" or worse "spread misinformation" about a number of incidents where it turned out they were themselves knowingly spreading misinformation (Henry Nowak for example).

So I'm now rather cynical about why the police would ask people not to even discuss an event in a discussion forum.

You remember what happened because of the online speculation?

Southampton, Belfast riots.

Nor his supporters. They are already jabbering on about conspiracies and cover-ups.

Edited

If you think loyalists only rioted because of online discussion on mumsnet - or indeed anywhere, maybe you should have a look at what's happening around Northern Ireland this evening - and remember that these events long predate the invention of the internet.

And it wasn't really misinformation either: the police now say they still don't know whether Hadi Alodid is Somali, Sudanese or, now, possibly Chadian. So a man travelled via Paris to Dublin, then to Belfast all on (presumably) fake papers.

IMO it's perfectly reasonable to think that MORE discussion should be allowed on matters such as how migrants travel in and out of the country without justifying riots. I would suggest that the police trying to control the dialogue, instead of arresting offenders, including rioters, is part of what causes social unrest when attacks like the Belfast stabbing or the Southport killings happen.

It could be a mental health thing, or a burglary gone wrong. 🤷‍♀️

Yes. If you look for online comments, loads of them are stating hysterically that a gang of White nationalist, ultra religious men are lefties. They simply don't care anything for facts.

It was the same with Trump's Capitol riots, they were all "FBI stooges and Commie plants." Despite years worth of MAGA posting online.

This sounds a bit flippant given the crime.
