So the admittedly boring but truly decent PM has announced his resignation and the egotistical, pompous Burnham will doubtless become PM. God help the country

Your posting style seems familiar. Of course I’m glad Starmer is gone. I take it you’re not hence posting as such on mn.

In English please?

The current cabinet reads like a Who's Who of Labour Friends of Israel. They seem to be the only MPs who get selected and funded these days. I wish more folks would wonder why that is and whether its good for our democracy.

What do you mean about wondering why that is?

I mean that I wish people were more curious about why only those MPs who are actively supported by another state (who should have nothing to do with us or our country's democracy) seem to be successful or picked for Cabinet posts. Why do you think it might be? We don't have a Labour Friends of France group? Or a Labour Friends of Germany? Why do we have a Labour Friends of Israel group? Incidentally, Israel was one of only two countries the late Queen never visited. Ever wondered why that is?

If you’re upset about Starmer take it out on others. Even the Labour MPs were cheering.

Do you even know what a nepo baby is? I'm presuming you don't, or you wouldn't make the ludicrous claim that Jeremy Corbyn was one. His parents were not famous and not in politics. One was a teacher and one was an engineer. Your argument is just bollocks.

Have you met him? I have, more than once. The first thing he tells you is how his parents met at Caxton Hall and how embedded they were with the party and the party campaigns they were involved in. After middling A level results their party connections got him the Union research job and route to a safe seat. Corbyn himself has never pretended otherwise.

I assume you accept the other comments about his lack of relevant experience despite decades in Westminster.

Are people on the left not allowed to support Isreal ?

People on the left tend to be against genocide. In my experience.

I can't believe you have actually written that out.

Read it back to yourself - slowly - and try and consider it with a fresh mind, free of bias and prejudice.

No and you sound paranoid to worry about why Labour politicians should be "Friends of Israel". About the FoI:

Labour Friends of Israel supports a negotiated two-state solution for two peoples; with Israel safe, secure and recognised within its borders; living alongside a viable, democratic and independent Palestinian state.

Sure. If it makes you feel better. It’s a good day, perhaps not for Starmer and you. Enjoy anyway.

Your posting style seems familiar is a regular refrain from @EasternStandard . It is quite strange.

EasternStandard · 22/06/2026 18:14

Is everyone feeling a bit annoyed Starmer’s out. You too @LittleLightShines?

I didn’t get him out and you having a go won’t bring him back. Just relax he’s gone.

TirednessOnToast · 22/06/2026 18:16

@MulberryBrandy oh, yes, other PM's also had music blared at them. It's quite funny (depending on your allegiance I guess?) but better later on SM than on BBC / Sky News etc as then I think internationally it makes us a clown show.

Not at all. Not a Starmer supporter nor Labour voter. Just regular poster who has noticed things over the years.

I know it does make it a circus, must admit I laughed at the Benny Hill/Boris ... it wasn't the music that was the main clown show element then!

I’ve answered that on another thread and since you notice things you will see it there no doubt.

letsallchant · 22/06/2026 18:30

Since Burnham is now pretty certain to become PM, who will he appoint as chancellor? I've seen Miliband, Rayner and Haigh suggested, none of whom seem very chancellor-y to me. Also that he'll keep Reeves. Any ideas?

I have met him actually yes, and funnily enough, how his parents met WASN'T the first thing he mentioned. But you are confirming neither of his parents were in politics, were not MPs and so he cannot, by any definition, be a 'nepo' baby. And as for him becoming leader, he was who the Party voted for. Twice. They know who he us and whst he stands for. And he won in all 4 blocks, not just among the unions as people like to claim. Those who undermined him, straight from the off, should perhaps have read the back of their membership card, which states one of Labour's values is solidarity and a respect for democracy. The contests were run fairly and squarely and he won. The fact that some MPs then spat their dummy out and worked against their own democratically elected leader was a disgrace then and its a disgrace now.

Once again, you are not posting in good faith. At least your baiting is limited by your inability to articulate. Most of the time no-one has the first clue what you are on about.

Yes I know how strongly you feel it’s ok. You are angry about Starmer but it’s not my problem. Enjoy the sunshine instead.
