John Healey resigns! Another nail in SKS's coffin, or the only way to force a showdown?

Loving the fantasy cabinet. No way in a million years will there be a coalition. Badenoch has said this week in The Spectator

Badenoch says the Tories could win and claims there is a ‘high chance’ she will become prime minister. But asked explicitly whether she would be prepared to put Farage into No. 10 if he fell short of a majority, she made it clear the answer is likely yes, as long as he pursues conservative policies: ‘This country cannot have another left-wing government. This is the most left-wing parliament we have ever had.’

God - what a bloody mess. Labour should hang their heads in shame

Papyrophile · 11/06/2026 21:35

I think the crisis Coalition might be closer than we think, but I don't want any of the extremists within sniffing distance.

Shabana is good. Yes to Sunak as Chancellor.

Have you seen what Badenoch said that I posted above? If there is a coalition it won’t be with Labour.

Trayfevers · 11/06/2026 21:39

What if Burnham doesn’t get voted in as an MP and Reform win the seat? If I was in that area I wouldn’t be voting Labour in after today’s headlines. Maybe that’s their plan!

PropertyD · 11/06/2026 21:41

I don’t have an issue with conservatives and Reform.

If it gets these incompetent twats out I would support an election now. Labour will cling onto the end though whilst causing untold damage.

Papyrophile · 11/06/2026 21:42

@BIossomtoes, you and I are both old and cynical enough to read all those statements with a kilo of salt!

Andy has 10% lead. The only possible scenario of him not winning would be Restore to stand down their candidate last min. Can't see this happening.

But even without Andy there would be contest, Wes and Angela would try. Again, this doesn't matter anymore, Keir lost all authority, he won't be able to pull this together.

The right wing vote will be split and I believe give the seat to Burnham.

I don't want Farage anywhere in the picture. Firmly centrist, right leaning describes me. Competent first would be nice.

OP posts:

Conservatives cannot get anywhere near power without Farage

I do. I very much do have an issue with Reform. And I hate Labour so much because they make Reform win.

My dream coalition would be for centrist Labour to do coalition with Tory. I know this won't ever happen, but girl can dream

Papyrophile · 11/06/2026 21:46

Actually literate, numerate and competent would be an unexpected bonus after years of imbecilic politics, of all the denominations.

Still voting for Count BinFace.

His manifesto was surprisingly good!

The bar is low. Correct spelling and the 2x table would be a plus.

With the bookies, labour are 1/7. Conservative 1000/1, same odds as Count Binface.

I don’t think it matters. It really is a case of don’t interrupt your enemy rn

Kemi can sit back, relax and wait for the fall out.

SallySharp · 11/06/2026 22:44

Back out now Andy, stay on as a successful Mayor. Wait for a GE and be a respectable candidate. You look a chancer at this moment.
It is going to be hell in the cabinet. And a 3 or 4 way election. Back away.

I presume he can back away or would his name still be on the ballot?

Could you please share the link to this? Spectator is for subscribers only.

What I managed to find it this:
Badenoch: I won’t do a deal with Reform

ETA: I will change my view if I hear Kemi saying she'd do a deal with Reform or Restore. I hope she didn't and it's media misinformation, but who knows
