Is she claiming asylum? She must now realise what a great country England is after spending all those years trying to destroy the country. She is most welcome to pop rounds for a cuppa and a natter.

I know these days there is very much an England for the English mentality but I think if you are gearing up to extraditing all the Scottish people currently resident there it is farcical in the extreme.

Is there anybody gearing up for this other than SNP supporters? Of whom, a lot live in England. That’s why the hypocrisy is so funny. Surely you’ve got to see the funny side of an ex leader of the Scottish Nationalist Party moving to England ? Kind of sums up the SNP really.

The SNP isn't anti English or anti England.

It is anti Scotland being treated as an English colony. It was historically an autonomous country and it should be an autonomous country now.

Why that means Nicola can't live in England at this point in her life - which even her most vindictive critics must acknowledge is an extremely difficult time for her - is beyond me.

LOL, come on that’s simply a ridiculous claim.

Who said Nicola can’t live in England? she’s living here. We don’t have any political parties in England advocating for a border with Scotland, unlike the other way around. That’s why it’s funny that their ex leader now lives in England.

Scotland itself participated nicely in and profited from the ‘Empire’.

This desperate race to distance yourself from ‘colonialism’ is laughable.

I thought right minded English people were. distancing themselves from colonialism and exploitation?

I always remember the SNP activists on the border with signs saying no English during Covid, I bet Nicola didn’t face such aggression driving her camper van on the train down.

I wonder if the mobile home was wearing its cloak of invisibility on the drive south?

I'm English born and bred but long time resident of Scotland and supporter of Scottish Independence i've had 2 Scottish H's and i have a proud Glaswegian son. But the rest of my family - or what's left of it live in England and are as English as can be

So where does that leave me? As a supporter of the pro independence Scottish parties does that mean that should I take it into my head to join the rest of my family in England I woukd not be welcome and I would be a hypocrite too?

WeasellyCreature · 31/05/2026 17:36

InconsequentialFerret · 31/05/2026 15:35

I'd agree if she was still involved in campaigning.

Maybe she thinks, having dedicated her life to it, she just wants to do something completely different, including living in a different country.

Fair enough in my mind.

erm… Nicola is that you???

Dollymylove · 31/05/2026 17:57

I think it leaves you quite confused. Obviously, yes it would make you a hypocrite.

Ophir · 31/05/2026 18:02

She described Scotland as too small, or the like, when she headed down to England before

The irony is strong

I’m a right-minded English person and I’m not distancing myself from colonialism and exploitation because it was not anything to do with me and was factually a part of our nation’s history. My ancestors of many generations ago may have been involved in the slave trade as I hail from a major slavery port city. However, I did not and do not act complicity in the cover-up of my (beard) husband’s theft of nearly £1 million from ordinary SNP members. The lengths that people will go to to exact their whataboutery to excuse Nicola Sturgeon for the fraud she has played upon the people of Scotland. She can’t even be bothered to hang around in the country she is apparently so passionate about. I believe that she will get her comeuppance and the police will find evidence to charge her with fraud. The ultimate irony would be for her to find herself in the clinky with Isla Bryson.

Plenty of Scots live quite happily in England

Of course they do! That's why I don't understand this thread and the outrage of pp that Nicola is living there. Absolutely ridiculous and down right nastiness imo.

Because she’s a nationalist grifter who has tirelessly stoked division between Scotland and England to further her career. Nobody is outraged, I don’t think anybody is particularly even surprised…. It’s just really funny when hypocrites get shown up.

Well exactly, of course supporting putting a border up between two countries and wanting to move from one to the other is hypocritical.

For heaven's sake!

She believes in independence for Scotland.

She was and is part of a political movement fighting for independence.

How does that translate into tirelessly stoked division between Scotland and England to further her career ?

I know it's quite rare these days for politicians to have beliefs and to try to further their beliefs but you make it sound like a crime. I really disliked Salmond but the one thing I had to admit about him was his belief in Scottish Independence and his striving to further the cause.

I get that you are pro the Union but the hatred and derision you are displaying does you no credit.

I would like her to explain why she believes Brexit has been really bad for the UK economy but Scexit would be really good for the Scottish economy. Let's not forget the rest of the UK is Scotland's largest trading partner. Why would you want to put barriers in the way for Scottish exporters?

Gwenhwyfar · 31/05/2026 19:20

She can live wherever she wants. She may not be getting very good treatment in Scotland at the moment...

No, it's not. She presumably didn't campaign for a hard border.
Are Irish people who live in England also hypocrites?
