Would you vote for Angela Rayner?

Sounds like she's throwing her hat in the ring.

She says she's paid off the tax she owes and is no longer under investigation.

This apparently means she's free to run - and is going to.

So if you’re a socialist you’re not supposed to buy a house? And Rayner is supposed to have taken exams as some kind of hobby despite having a meteoric career without qualifications? This place gets more bonkers every day.

Don’t forget that she shouldn’t have moved away from her young adult children to be within an easy journey of the HofC!

@beguilingeyes - are you unable to use Google?!

Trump has an Econ degree from an Ivy League - UPenn.

Wondering who is lacking basic reading comprehension skills.

Yeah, right. In the same way that he's 6'3" and weighs 200 lbs. Rolls eyes forever

OK. So everyone says it’s not her class, her accent, her voice Or her sex. It’s her questionable competence and ability. How has she shown herself to be incompetent and not able to do the job? And I’m not talking about her angry and apologized for outburst, or her vaping or her dancing. Or the mismanaged tax affairs, which have now been passed by the HMRC. I’m talking about the JOB.

Edited

I’m talking about the JOB.

She wanted a legislation to protect employment rights. She created a legislation which actively harms employment and leading to potential employers actively reducing hiring, especially youngsters. This is after her proposed legislation was substantially watered down. If this was passed in her original version the job market would be completely dead by now.

When a person delivers something which results in something opposite to the original objective - how do you call it? I call it incompetence.

ETA: and whilst it is irrelevant to her (in)ability to do the job, HMRC didn't clear her, they made a discretional choice not to impose penalties. The difference is huge.

What’s my subscription to The Times got to do with anything? It’s hardly the Morning Star!

Margaret Thatcher read the Morning Star. (To learn what her opponents were thinking ie the Unions).

Araminta1003 · 29/05/2026 13:32

List of some of past world leaders without uni degrees:

Hitler - left at 16 with no qualifications - not completing his schooling
Stalin - expelled from seminary
Mao - but I think some teacher training of some sort
Mussolini - also some sort of elementary teaching qualification but no uni
Gaddafi - did not finish
Nicolas Maduro - did not finish secondary education, bus driver, trade union leader
Idi Amin - very little formal education (although as chancellor of a uni he gave himself a degree)

So yes, I will be sticking to my principles of preferring world leaders with higher education, And it is evidence based. And especially relevant in this age of populism, to me at least.

For the avoidance of doubt, I am not implying Rayner is in any shape or form like the above list. However, I am illustrating why I would always prefer a leader with a uni degree.

A leader without basic academic secondary school qualifications I am not willing to compromise on.

It's a very interesting list, thank you for sharing.
Apart from no education the above list share rise to power on the top of ideology.
I can see similarities here.

As to Putin having uni degree - I wish him disappear from the Earth this very moment (and in a very painful way), but I don't think anyone can deny that he's extremely intelligent and strategic. If he was driven by good morals the situation would be completely different.

TopPocketFind · 29/05/2026 08:36

Can you show us a world leader who has had to navigate the same obstacles as Rayner?

Beacuse you are basically excluding anyone who can't access the level of education you are insisting on.

Can you prove that her innate intelligence allows her to understand the consequences of decisions she is making? that she understands the rules of economics enough to be fit for the office?

Quite. Utterly incoherent. Incompetent.

'Day-One Protections: The original draft included a manifesto pledge to grant unfair dismissal protections from day one of employment. However, to pass the legislation through the House of Lords, the government made a compromise U-turn to set the bar at six months. '

Just embarrassing to ever even think that proposal was viable.

The point is unless she advertised it, no one would've known. If she got pregnant at 16, at the end of the March. She wouldn't have shown until after school finished in June.

Speculating now but she probably didn't know herself for at least 2 months.

Edited

In fact @TopPocketFind her first son was born in Feb 1997. Angela Rayner turned 16 end March 96. This means she should have taken her GCSE's before she was even pregnant. Sounds like she got pregnant the end June / July when school broke up.

So what happened? Did she take them and fail (ok it happens)? Did she just not show up? And why has it always been the narrative she got pregnant and had a baby so had to leave school, so couldn't possibly have done any exams? Bull shit - as per.

Vinvertebrate · 29/05/2026 16:53

Good Lord, no. She’s thick as mince and I’d choose nails-down-a-blackboard over those vowels. All options are atrocious though.

So can you or not?

Or you just want to pretend that because I made my mind you won't even bother? I made my conclusions based on the facts I know of.

If you can share something different I will reconsider my position.

I credit her for the Employments Rights Act.

I have no intention of changing your mind on her.

You dislike her, I don’t.

Would she be my preferred candidate, not sure.

Will that do for you?

TopPocketFind · 29/05/2026 17:07

@Northermcharn thanks for letting me know, maybe the Telegraph/Allison Pearson is more interested in your theories?

'innate intelligence '

Well I'm sure she has some. Very firmly at the average IQ level. About 100, I'd bet. Good luck getting any proof out of her supporters, anyway!

Babe? Yes, facts should matter, maybe you should remember that before you make an uneducated and baseless assessment of the IQ of someone you’ve never met. The facts show her to be highly intelligent, she’s got further than you.

The only person who can answer those questions is Angela Rayner. Why not get in touch and ask?

Well given most jobs you need to give a CV for, do we have hers? With her education (school dates in her case) and qualifications?

I do realise being a politician is an outlier (as in it requires zero qualifications), and any old twit can join the party. As we see all the time.

As we were (are still?) paying for her - yes we should know the truth about her secondary education facts. No we shouldn't have to ask.

So she left school at 16. She wasn't pregnant when she left (dates don't lie). I'd like Labour to tell us more about this murky time in her past.
