Sounds like she's throwing her hat in the ring.

She says she's paid off the tax she owes and is no longer under investigation.

This apparently means she's free to run - and is going to.

Oh, and why would he call a General Election when THEY WON with a majority?!

I suppose if he were confident that he would win again, he would call one , win a big majority againand then say to Big Ange and Wet Wes that he has been given a mandate again-people want him-so away you trot.

Of course, if he wasn't confident then that would be a bad idea

Araminta1003 · 14/05/2026 11:06

I do not think the bond markets will accept Angela Rayner as PM so we are screwed? Does she not realise this? She is underqualified for the job?
I do not think we even need a Truss budget, just her getting in would do the same?

That is my main concern. Aside from that she seems like a good politician and a feisty lady who has overcome adverse circumstances.

TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams · 14/05/2026 11:06

She would rapidly preside over the UK’s economic demise - gilt yields would spike, sterling would tank and the economy would be on life-support.
She’s unqualified - her gender is irrelevant.

This. I don't have confidence in her to lead right now. I think she has had a fantastic career so far but has a way to go before she is a credible leader on the world stage.
She's done Shadow Minister for Health and has been Deputy Prime Minister [but to hold the party together imho] but has never led a major department, been responsible for its direction and accountable for its results. I'd like to see her do more substantive work before I'd vote for her.

I'd vote for Yvette Cooper. Stupidly bright, amazing levels of experience over 20 odd years. Suffers from the same issue as Keir Starmer which is that she has too much integrity to perform for the public and the tabloids which is all the general public want to see these days..... another character politician like Bojo is not what this country needs right now.

What!

The average person doesn"t care what kind of website he runs (as long as it is consenting adult performers) but the average person will be voting Reform not Labour so their little internal leaders competition is just noise really, people are just counting down to the next chance to punish them at the ballot box now. KS hanging on and going La La La is just total lack of self-awareness on steroids, every time he gets up to babble about "diversity" or digital ID is another load of votes for Farage.

In a word, NO

She might crash the property market, that is long overdue, Labour were instrumental in creating the property debt monster ( a gullible greedy public too of course) and it would be lovely to see them own a massive property crash just before Reform take over.

Happyjoe · 14/05/2026 11:11

I do prefer Starmer. Starmer is good on the world stage.
Like Angela but not seen that much of her.
Streeting I liked at the time of election, he was honest, straight up when answering questions, now he's gone down politician speak route where that doesn't happen.

Yeah, prefer to keep Starmer for now with Iran, USA & Russia.

Big Ange and Wet Wes 🙄😂
Ok, I see the grown ups have Ieft the building.
I'll leave you to it as you're clearly not up for sensible discussion and just here for goodness knows what.

You'd want a property crash as, what, revenge for being Labour? How horrible.

Christ no!! She’s dreadful. Uneducated, uncouth and unethical in her own tax dealings.

She’d trash the country with her socialist ideals and she would be a total embarrassment across the world stage!!

But there is also a part of me who thinks it would be funny to watch what she did as PM!! A catastrophe that would be hilarious to observe, especially if she told Trump in person to fuck off 😂

Edited

Uncouth?
Lordie, haven't heard that word for a while.
Is this because she said the word scum once?
Heaven forbid she's not lady like enough.
Show a bit more decorum, Angela! 😂

billysboy · 14/05/2026 07:12

I still think she was set up to fail on her 1.5m housing target

lol, that was the target for the size of her property portfolio. I mean she is on a MN high wage and she does like her quality clothing. She is peak middle class MN right down to not wanting to pay more tax.

TheEasterBunny3 · 14/05/2026 11:15

Absolutely not. If shes gets in its a certainty that Reform will win the next GE which is not something I'm in favour of but most would prefer that to her being in charge (& bankrupting the country!).

Some people on here certainly don't want what's best for the UK, yet in the same breath saying stuff like "Reform will sort Britain out!"
Yeah, in what way?!

MurkyMo · 14/05/2026 09:25

She is so NOT Corbyn! However she is funded by Israel so absolutely not.

If she's 'funded by Israel' I'll eat my hat. Please provide proof of this insane accusation.

We need a mix, I agree-including’posh’ people and working class. People who have worked in business, people who have been blue collar.

but there needs to be one constant-education.

ion an interview. Angela said’ I though I was doing it proper’ she has been caught vaping and drinking in open water.

how can she be ultimately in charge on health and education if she doesn’t understand the basics herself?

does she know the reasons for ww2 (ie the harsh German reparations of ww1 played a big part?). That chamberlain’s appeasement strategy with hitler led to the invasion of Poland and the ww2?

basic knowledge that I dint think she has. Do not thick, but not educated.

I think having wc people in cabinet is so important. How can a rich/middle class person understand real poverty? I don’t.

but they need to be educated to be able to understand world politics.

Why would she not? I also got pregnant in year 11 actually younger than her because I was 15 for the first few months. And I know all those things. She never dropped out she completed year 11 and then had her son, twenty years before they passed the law saying education until 18.

I wouldn’t vote her but she is quite literally not even a drop out.

MaCheCazzo · 14/05/2026 11:20

If AR is elected to replace KS then it will be the biggest act of self-sabotage for the Labour Party. I expect Nigel is very keen for her to get in Grin

She might be all of the things her fans say she is but the fact remains that she is uncouth and absolutely incapable of representing the UK on the world stage. Bit like Nigel really. Is this really the best we can do?

Good on the world stage? The US president more or less called him a plonker? He isn"t sorting out the main concern that masses of people have in the UK though, mass immigration, immigration is only down because they are tweaking visa rules to try and head off Reform, but they are globalists at heart and can"t wait to bend the knee to the EU once more, if he won another term it would be back to business as usual. FOM is designed to suppress wages in developed countries and expose a whole new batch of people to debt taking, similar to how the tobacco companies spread into Asia when the European/US markets were saturated.

No, as a victory for common sense, no sensible person believes any more that you can run an economy forever on a property Ponzi scheme based on cheap debt? The bond markets are calling time anyway it is out of the government"s hands now, the fact that the worst chancellor in history is back for a front row seat makes it even better!

She hasn’t got any higher qualifications apart a level 2 in social care. She doesn’t have a grasp of basic English grammar, these things dont point at someone who has enough knowledge to run a country.

LadyWiddiothethird · 14/05/2026 11:29

Not a chance I would vote for her.

IAmBeaIDrinkTea · 14/05/2026 11:29

Uncouth has been said a few times now.
Why is she "uncouth?"
So far I'm getting - because she's been seen vaping, having a drink and sitting on a dinghy/lilo thing.
If she's on holiday, good on her.
I actually think that's kind of refreshing, having someone a bit more relatable than Hooray Henry toffs from Eton always visible and in power.
(Also sure I've seen a photo of Boris sat about with his belly out in just his trunks, on the beach. Just googled to make sure, yep, yep I have, why did I just do that to myself 😂)
Did he get as much flack and called uncouth? Doubt it.
As for "adverse" and "averse" sometimes stuff like that comes down to accent.

And being ‘relatable’ and ‘refreshingly uncouth’ thereby qualifies Rayner for the office of PM?

Okaaaaaay.

Araminta1003 · 14/05/2026 11:42

John Major did not go to uni and left school at 16.
Ditto James Callaghan.

Farage does not have a degree either despite going to a posh school. Would love to know what he got in his A levels?

Surely Angela with her background deserves as much recognition as Nigel? Given he was at a posh private school and picking up some good A levels would have been a lot easier for him than her.

I suspect Angela Rayner is actually quite clever. I guess she should have squeezed in some A levels and an open uni degree along the way somehow.

Totalmayhem · 14/05/2026 11:44

The HMRC have ‘cleared her’ so she was right all along and hasn’t had to pay?…..or she’s just paid up what she owes?? BIG DIFFERENCE. …..And if she wasn’t charged interest and fined like the rest of us would have been then why not?!
