funny old game, pretty much every Westminster journalist and Labour politician pretending they didn't know what Peter Mandelson was about, when him staying friends with the world's most notorious peadophile was already a matter of public record and something photos of have been in the public domain of, for years, with questions about them ignored.

it's quite a big glass house I guess.

So rumour and hearsay....

..and no, you don't have a clue how data is transmitted, as your post said "Give China access to our data cables..."

You know those "unprotected" Green boxes, dotted around the place or Openreach exchanges with just a bit of barbed wire between you and fibre.... the financial sector operates far and wide away from the actual 'City of London.

Ok, enjoy splitting hairs and ignoring the main issues.

There are no communications between Farage and Epstein.

The only references to Farage are by third parties mentioning Farage in their communications with Epstein.

Please stop trying to infer a link between Farage and Epstein when there isn't one.

Yes quite a few wanting to shift the clear focus from Starmer, Labour and Mandelson. No wonder some think they can get away with this stuff, people say look over there instead.

Westminster is an absolute cesspit, agreed

I want Mandelson to be investigated and prosecuted.

But I don't like the fact that this is shifting the focus away from the sexual exploitation of women, girls, children (and possibly men and boys) by powerful men. We need that kept front and centre too.

Being what? That China will be in one Embassy, instead of 6, wont be able to hack cables (anymore than they "might" now) and that the security services ok'd the approval....

On Mandelson, i'm not a fan of diverting to Farage or anyone else but you did bring up Starmer and China, not me.

It was clearly very unwise of Starmer to appoint Mandelson but you wreck your argument with made up allegations.

peanutbuttertoasty · 04/02/2026 10:24

It’s looking awfully much like nobody is going to be prosecuted for these heinous crimes against humanity. Clinton, Gates et al? Tumbleweed. So very depressing.

In the same way that Epstein was Mandelson's fixer, both Gordon Brown and Keir Starmer turned a blind eye to what were more than just 'lapses in judgement' because Mandelson was their fixer, their man who could do what needed to be done, however he did it with no questions asked.

That Mandelson and Blair were ever Labour is a joke. They saw the party as a vehicle to them both becoming 'intensely rich'. When Blair said back in the day that he wouldn't want to win on a leftist platform, we should have seen the writing on the wall. The reason this country is in the shit it's in is because when the opposition finally got in after the Thatcher years all they did was continue the right wing economics - because cosying up to wealth and power, instead of regulating the fuck out of it, was the way they also became members of the power elite. Starmer's lot are no different. Who was the first person he had over the threshold as PM? Larry fucking Fink of Blackrock.

I despise Mandelson with a passion. Prince of Darkness my arse. He's just a common or garden traitor.

Indeed

Only if it turns out Starmer knew all this detail about Epstein and Mandelson’s relationship.

But it seems unlikely.

Does the prime minister not have any responsibility for the people he hires?

And lest we forget Mandy was known as the Prince of Darkness. Did anyone ever wonder why? He has a history.

I wish I could disagree with this, but I don't think I can right now 😕 . Politics is corrupt from top to bottom, from left to right.

Agreed, and TBH it's almost certainly not just him.

How many politicians these days can we confidently say put the interests of their nation and it's nationals ahead of their own quest for personal gain?

“Based on lies. A pretty large proportion of those leave voters are now dead and many of those still alive have changed their mind.”

Your figures are based on what? I think you may be in for an unpleasant surprise there.

peanutbuttertoasty · 04/02/2026 10:49

I’d say let’s see what comes to light RE what Starmer knew etc, but these days I have almost zero faith in the truth being revealed and taken action on. I wouldn’t trust any of them.

Nanalovesnature · 04/02/2026 11:01

I don't think anything will bring down Starmer unfortunately. He and Reeves have made such horrendous decisions and caused utter chaos and destruction to the country, and blatantly lied over and over. They have very little support and yet they will continue to lie and weasel their way out of everything and will do nowhere.

Brexit poll 2025| Statista

The share of people who regret Brexit has increased since the UK left the EU. Recent polls show a growing majority think it was the wrong decision.

Starmer's already lost credibility, so the key question is can there be another Labour Parliament after him - and quite possibly not.
In particular, eating itself is a real danger for Labour: protecting this guy, stopping that guy from standing... until they suddenly discover it's the voters, not a few party personalities, that decide who is in Parliament.

We don't always agree but on this, you re dead right.

The expenses various Labour politicians took, whilst within the rules, was a massive disappointment, its not like they cannot afford a concert ticket or a new suit themselves.

Easy to see why so many voters are turning to other less mainstream parties.

upinaballoon · 04/02/2026 14:05

Sorry very slightly that this is not quite on-topic but I notice that whoever is interviewed now, about any of this, is quick and 'very sincere, folks' in making it plain that their hearts go out to the women and girls who are the 'real victims of all of this'.
It's this week's compulsory mantra.

caringcarer · 04/02/2026 14:24

Yvette Cooper has said Starmer appointed Mandelson before he even went to a vetting committee.

BurntBroccoli · 04/02/2026 14:34

AtIusvue · 03/02/2026 18:06

Even when he was first appointed, Mandelson was seen as a controversial choice because of other past behaviours.

It’s obvious they knew. Intelligence would have this info. Mandy was chosen to be the US ambassador because of his connections and ability to schmooze.

Apparently Starmer wanted George Osborne but was overruled by Morgan McSweeney his political adviser.

bonsconkers · 04/02/2026 14:36

Mandelson probably has a cushy job waiting for him in Trumps' administration.

He appears rather pro trump the patronising git

Aside from anything this also ignores all the young boys (children and young adults) who were victims too
