Labour Supporters - Do you think it would help if KS was replaced?

Mrsmunchofmunchington · 09/09/2025 08:41

I am a life long labour voter. Like many I am incredibly disappointed, in fact I’m devastated by the direction of the current government.

Something needs to change in a pretty radical way or we are opening the door to Deform.

I’m torn between thinking the last thing we need is another revolving door at no 10 but I have lost any confidence that KS is able to lead us out of the mess the tories left us in.

Would it be a good thing to change leaders if this was possible and if so who should it be?

Are you? Anyone can post on this thread.

Ok then so it must follow that anyone can post on the Labour’s not working thread then. The main discussion over there seems to be a lot of references to what is said on these threads anyway.

In that case we can also post on the Starmer thread yes? Because we are all talked about on there anyway

Are you saying that none of you have done so already?

Are you saying you don't?

Julen7 · 01/10/2025 17:11

Yes anyone can - if a Labour supporter posts on there the post doesn’t vanish in a puff of smoke because it’s the LNW thread. One dissenter posted there late last night if I recall.

No I don’t. You haven’t answered my question.

Oh well that’s new. Previously they tried to banish anyone who didn’t agree.

I don’t it’s not my thing. Fine by me, happy to let people have a space.

Wow I'm shocked that you agree that you add nothing to anything.

I said I haven’t posted on Starmer thread specifically. That’s a bit different from saying I have nothing to add to anything. Still no answer to my question?

It’s not your call to say who can post on this one.

When did I try?

Your Q was so pointless I've forgotten it to be honest. I can't take seriously someone who never contributes to anything yet pops up randomly to police other posters/threads. It's just bizarre.

The question was have you posted on the Starmer thread? You seem to be studiously avoiding answering that. You can read threads without needing to comment you know. Better than posting rubbish or name calling.

leli · 01/10/2025 19:04

I support Keir Starmer to stay.

I have posted once to call out a poster who was quoting what I was writing on the LIW thread. That breaches MN rules. Apart from that no I haven't because I believe in safe spaces.

I was a the Labour Party conference - more in a work capacity than as a rank and file Labour Party member, so most people I spoke to weren't 'Labour People' but a lot of people in people that have a vested interest in the government succeeding, like people working on net zero, anti-poverty etc.

People though Starmer's speech was v good, best they've seen of him in a long time, and doing a much better job of setting out the "these are our values, this is what we stand for" than has been the case up until now.

Seemed to be good discipline amongst ministers and MPs in shutting down Andy Burnham chatter and getting behind the PM. Notably seemed to be fewer senior figures than usual in the bars, seemed to be trying to avoid risks of people saying the wrong thing, looking complacent at a difficult time etc. Maybe I was just at the wrong events but I've not seen the "ministers doing karaoke" stuff you normally see.

So I'm feeling a bit more optimistic that the new no 10 team is going to get a grip on things and maybe they can turn stuff around.

Well yes because conference is an echo chamber. All conferences are. All Starmer did though outside of conference was create more division and hatred.

PermanentTemporary · 02/10/2025 10:41

@twistyizzy what do you think he should have done? ‘I agree with Nige?’ Even when Nige is doing his usual revolting ‘some people say’ schtick to tickle the G spots of racists? I think it’s encouraging when someone says ‘yeah that stuff is revolting and not me’ and it was good to hear.

Yeh I think the asylum headlines might cause some Labour MPs a few spikes of conscience. We’ll see.

Well he came out and presented a policy which echos Reform so yeh maybe he should. What he said at conference does not match what he is doing policy wise

I thought Starmer's speech was terrifying. Politics is going to a very dark place.

Why has Farage's security been reduced by 75% just as Keir Starmer and his MPs demonises him at the conference? Did they not hear about Charlie Kirk? I think this is all really ominous.

Perhaps because he’s very rarely in the country? Politicians’ security isn’t a party political issue, the appropriate level is risk assessed by security professionals.

I honestly don't know what I think about immigration and asylum policy. It's an incredibly difficult policy area to get right on its own terms, and 10x harder when it's the lightning rod for division across the country and affecting the chances of Reform at a minimum gaining more footholds in local politics and at worst a national level. In principle I want compassionate immigration and asylum policies but I'm bloody glad I'm not the one who has to make decisions about it.

Wrong. My small business owning champagne socialist dad is a lifelong Labour voter. WC background guilt I think

Yeah he must be an exception. Most owners of SMEs aren't going to be voting Labour.
