Starmer surely can’t survive this one?

Guido Fox guy says it’s about the ‘shape of his family’ and reveals: “We have a name. As do the Mail and the Telegraph. We have a birth certificate."

Seems the allegations are something to do with an extra marital lady plus baby.

My opinion on this is that anyone who is such a control freak as to jail people for what they say is clearly a very dark person. And the hypocrisy he’s shown about almost everything he’s ever said, also shows a very dark underbelly,

Oh, wow, I simply asked you a question and answered the question you asked me.

Can you link to VAT guidance, please?

Edited

Vat owed unless gift is under £50. Remind me of the (current) total of Starmer’s gifts? 130k rings a bell. For Labour voters to insist this isn’t bent is absolute madness.

Business promotions (VAT Notice 700/7)

Find out how to account for VAT schemes on business gifts, samples and promotional schemes.

Second the “what VAT is due on gifts, under what guidance, which hasn’t already been paid by the gifter?” question @80smonster

TooBigForMyBoots · 03/10/2024 13:15

Do you have a link @hamstersarse?

I know this is the party line but you have not thought for more than one second how horrendous it is to be jailing people for Facebook posts that the government deems unacceptable. You seem comfortable that the government can tell me what I can, but it is an appalling over reach of a government. And to say Starmer played no part in ensuring these people were jailed for Facebook opinions is beyond naive:

But the law thought they were unacceptable. It had nothing to do with the government. If you think the law is wrong campaign to make incitement to violence legal.

Careful, you will be insulted with an ableist slur for asking a question.

DogInATent · 03/10/2024 13:17

Hopefully Starmer will at least offer to pay the VAT on his freebies, it’s his moral obligation

Far right sure has a wide definition these days. Seems to mean anyone who think Starmer is a crank

Yes.. a bit like anyone who challenges the extreme gender ideology cranks.

Second the “what VAT is due on gifts, under what guidance, which hasn’t already been paid by the gifter?” question @80smonster

It's practice that politicians don't pay tax on gifts as such they're exempt.

Second the “what VAT is due on gifts, under what guidance, which hasn’t already been paid by the gifter?” question @80smonster

This assumes that’s either the company/person that donated pays VAT or the individual receiving. Do you suppose the VAT has been paid already? Odd consider Starmer has already stumped up 6k’s worth of VAT. That implies that VAT hadn’t been paid. It’s why corporate gift registers exist.

VAT is owed on any corporate gift in excess of £50, that’s what the HMRC website states. There isn’t a slide rule for slimy toad politicians.

Pay tax on your gifts, top accountancy firm warns politicians amid Labour row

Politicians should pay tax on gifts in the same way that other industries and individuals do, a leading accountant has said.

The point is the deceptions and sanctimony of Starmer

Thats why his behaviour is so incredulous,

Do you seriously think this is nothing coming from a man who paints himself as holier than thou?

See if you can answer without mentioning Boris

😂 yes. See if they can answer questions about Labour sleaze and hypocrisy without mentioning:
boris
tories
tufton street
tory bots
frothing

They will find it rather tricky bless their little Labour socks.

HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) “appears to exempt” politicians from paying tax on gifts from donors and political allies despite requiring taxpayers in other sectors to do so, according to accountancy firm Blick
Rothenberg.

Spend less time on the playground insults and actually read the sources you quote. They aren't supporting you, they're showing you up for how little you understand. For example, your City AM quote refers to income tax not VAT.

Please will you run us through why there is a gift register? What do you suppose its purpose is? Blimey, it’s actually quite sad watching you all try and squirm around this. The ignorance on this subject is astounding.

From your article:

But politicians are currently exempt from such a levy

That means that politicians don't pay tax on gifts. So you're expecting Starmer to do something no other politician has ever done.

You're obviously a rabid Tory/Reform voter looking for any excuse to tear into Labour. Although it's a bit of a stretch to criticise him for doing nothing wrong.

That would mean even more tax is owed, so not at 20% more like 40%? Are we saying Starmer is dodging his income tax?

It does seem to be an area where more clarity is needed. Perhaps @80smonster advice on a complicated area of tax law is needed by the government and HMRC?

If VAT applies to gifts I suspect we should all be terrified of a huge tax bill hitting the doormat.
