My God I hated Thatcjer and all she stood for .. but at least I think she was honourable in her beliefs even if they were not mine .. but THIS LOT .. from BOJO onwards what a bunch of grifters ..

And before anyone says 'they are all the same ' .. I really don't think so ... At least in the 'lining their own pockets ' agenda .. AIBU to think this ?

Agreed! Can’t bloody wait!

bozzabollix · 05/05/2024 08:31

I can’t wait either. Think I’ll need to take a week off for the celebrations after.

From David Cameron/George Osborne risky voting gambling after Election and Scotland Independence wins.. risked and fail to win Brexit.

Combined witb pointless austerity nonsensical policy, which lead to poor Covid response and decline in average mortality age in UK.

To cruel and unstable Teresa May. Followed by Covid lock down parties and biggest hwist of public mum with PPE contracta Bojo.

Could it get any worse? Truss-Kwatweng.... Sinking the pound with ideological untested policies.

Billionaire (I have no poor friends and enjoyed quite a few lock down parties) Rishi. who wanted use to eat our way out of a recession... and now are in a recession! Making boats an agenda whilst allowing legal migration to reach over 1 million in a year.

Labour are a bunch of war criminal money scunder dishonest women hating horries who will be no different to the Tories.

Quite the rant 😁

lotsofdogshere · 05/05/2024 08:33

They really aren’t ’all The same’. Look at what this awful lot have done over the past 13 years - destroyed public services, left the country in a miserable, depressed state, well apart from the rich that is. Bring on the general election

You don't think Blair got rich by chance then? They are all money grabbing and self serving

Dargawn · 05/05/2024 08:40

I think we are all fed up with what we have but I don’t have much confidence that it will change.

wonderstuff · 05/05/2024 08:45

The government have focused for the last year on making it as difficult as possible for labour to fund any changes, don’t expect much to be honest. I don’t understand why they aren’t looking at getting us back in the customs union, seems the most obvious way to improve the economy.

Whys that relevant? Why try to disparage someone on their spelling?

YANBU. hated/hate thatcher. Hate tories. From a lass who grew up in miners strike.

'Not actually lining their own pockets (David Cameron and the mates rates ppe) would be a good start. Not making new laws and breaking them immediately.'

I think it will be a massive Labour landslide, got no doubts in fact. I won't be voting for them but they will win the election. However, I think it's incredibly naive to think that Starmers Labour Party will be the whiter than white peoples party many believe them to be. I am interested to see how he will be remembered as prime minister in 5/10 and 15 years time.

I'm not sure anyone expects them to be whiter than white. Just being less dark than the current lot is what most of us hope for.

Labour run Wales is a veritable utopia. You have so much to look forward to

@wonderstuff because the Tories would immediately spin it into a 'labour want to reverse brexit' and get a big boost in the red wall areas.

I'm sure labour are rational enough to know it's what we should do, they just don't want it to be an own goal in the election run up.

Bouledeneige · 05/05/2024 09:32

I recently went to a talk by Sir John Curtice. Of course he predicted Labour will win but that is more to do with the severe unpopularity of the Conservatives than enthusiasm for Labour. As Labour have vowed to match Conservative spending commitments they could quickly struggle with their own popularity in Government as the public are in favour of more tax and spend on public services like the NHS and Labour don't have the means to do so. The country is deeply in debt and many of our problems are long term and intractable - waiting lists in health and staff shortages, social care, local government, police and housing crises and tariff barriers to trade. Growing inequalities and law and order issues.

I applaud anyone who is prepared to go into Government with such deep challenges to be tackled and with the abuse and misinformationthat people in public life endure. There won't be many short term fixes.

SeasickAccountant · 05/05/2024 09:35

It frightens me though that the Tories control the state with the full knowledge that they're on their way out. What will they plunder and put in place before they go?

Trumpetoftheswan2 · 05/05/2024 09:37

God yes. The damage done over the last 14 years can never be put right, but a change of government is so desperately needed.

YANBU. As a dyed in the wool socialist from a long line of Quaker socialists, I have found myself amazed when agreeing with Heseltine, Lawson and Clarke.

Also agree that whilst I detest Thatcher and all she believed in, at least she and her ilk believed that their politics would benefit the majority (after REALLY benefitting the minority).

This shower of cunts give zero fucks for anyone but themselves. They’d sell their Granny to the highest bidder.

As an aside, I’ll be booking the day after the GE as holiday. I’ll be as drunk as a non fucking Tory skunk!

This. All of it. (Apart from the Quaker bit. I’m from a short line of lapsed catholics!)

the day after the election should be declared a national holiday imo. I too will be nursing a hangover.

youngones1 · 04/05/2024 21:47

Let's see how the Labour twats get on. 😂

I'm dreading it if it's any thing like last time....
Short waiting lists
1 million pensions out of poverty
600k children out of poverty.
Cleanest rivers and waterways ever
Surestart centres
Low mortgage rates
Over 60s bus pass
Banned fox hunting
Brought in National minimum wage.
I stopped voting for them after Iraq, which was a fucking terrible thing to do. But started again Cameron decided to ruin our economy through the Brexit vote to save the Tories. Compared to this current lot labour will be a refreshing change.
And before anyone starts on the "at least know what a woman is..". They might very well do but they don't actually do anything about it do they? Just use us women to try and create divide rather than legislation that would protect us. Absolute bastards.

All they care is filling their own pockets and their mates', whilst pointing the finger at immigrants and blaming them for everything they themselves have recked and don't get me started on the ugly sisters ( Cruella Braverman and Prity Nasty).

Yes same coupled with the fact they have proof now that they can't ignore and bullshit (though will try like they do every pmqs) that they're on the way out so will hold off on the general election until they HAVE to have it (which is next Jan!)

I’ve just read this in the BBC website and it’s really tickled me

“Transport Secretary Mark Harper says the government has a plan to reach voters, but hasn't got all the way through it yet.”

it sounds like a cross between an excuse for not doing homework and Baldrick’s cunning plan.

I’d say, Mark love, that now’s about the time to start thinking about putting this mysterious plan into action.

honestly, this shower of shit government couldn’t organise the proverbial brewery piss up.

Or “the dog ate my scruples and moral Compass”.
