Is Angela Raynor a liar or is it all anti Labour media bias?

1000 replies

CormorantStrikesBack · 10/03/2024 12:33

I’m well aware how anti Labour a lot of the main stream media seem to be so I wasn’t paying much attention previously to all the stuff about how she should have paid capital gains tax on her house, etc. she was adamant that she didn’t need to.

So it seems like she said it was her main residence so not liable for capital gains tax. But her husband and kids lived in a house a short distance away apparently for the first five years of their marriage which is unusual. A neighbour who lived next to her “husband’s” house said it was the main family home and Angela definitely lived there.

I’ll be sad if she has lied. Always thought she was on the side of the ordinary person. I guess the police/tax man might have a hard time proving anything though regardless of the neighbour’s statement. If all bills, etc were in the individual names there’s no evidence.

Rayner is fab, I personally love it that she's on his front bench. She's the opposite of a liability. If she was a liability the Tories wouldn't be trying so hard to get rid of her.

Sure. Top, top intellect.

Let’s see how she gets on in government, if she survives this.

HRTQueen · 12/04/2024 23:46

I doubt very much Starmer would be upset if Rayner has to step down he would like someone who is more to the centre her having to step down isn’t going to make it an issue for labour come election time

Problem is that Rayner has been extremely vocal in her criticism towards all Tories as she views them as corrupt. In the scheme of things it’s nothing and I believe it’s possibly an innocent mistake but if a mistake has been made she has lost her position of having the upper hand

I think she likely to be be having to go now it’s not what labour need but it’s no big win for the Tories it’s makes no difference to the election

It’s a great thing. But it doesn’t magic up ability or neutralise over-promotion.

Good thing than that Rayner put in the hard work rather than magic

Has anyone blamed Liz Truss for Angela Rayner's (alleged) deception yet?

How could anyone blame the righteous Goody Truss for that Rayner "woman"Hmm being a WITCH???

Sure it was Rayner's curse that destroyed PM Truss. Just weeks before the end of the golden era of the Right, AR denounced Goody Truss' government "A ministry of all the talentless" and accused her aloud of "crashing the pork". A possibly very important thing in the North. Where AR is from.Hmm

Too few weeks later, Goody Truss pushed the UK's economy and international reputation off a cliff while manically smirking. She's never recovered.Sad

So Liz Truss could never be blamed. She was yet another victim of Angela Rayner, the WITCH!!!Angry

Odd. Labour attacks on Nadine Dorries (a former nurse), and no doubt other Tory women, weren’t misogynistic or classist, apparently.

I actually share a dim view of Dorries. But then I’m not a hypocrite. 🙄

Exactly. She was nothing. She was no-one. She used her dark magick to achieve a position way above her station.

She's a WITCH!!! How else do you explain it?🤷‍♀️

Personally, I explain it by her being voted for Deputy Leader by numpty Labour members just because she’s on the left of the party.

But it could be diabolical spell-casting I guess.

Yoj mean like all the talentless Eton boys who are currently in charge?

AutumnCrow · 13/04/2024 04:19

Angela Rayner strikes me at this point as someone who believes in her own innocence.

I suspect that the truth may be somewhere in the region of her feeling she did make sacrifices and did spend sufficient time in her own house in Vicarage Road.

Perhaps she was spending time with her brother for some private reason that she does not wish to disclose.

Bottom line is, I don’t know. I haven’t seen enough evidence one way or another. And so I’ll wait and see whether she transgressed the rules or not.

newnamethanks · 13/04/2024 06:27

O how they hate her, good for her. I hope they don't succeed with this witch hunt by the Tory scum. I think she hurt their feelings by being so frank, poor things. Who knew they had such tender sensibilities.

CurlewKate · 10/03/2024 12:44

I don't know. However-and I don't want to do whataboutery, but seriously? Her making a profit on one house compared to say, for example, Jeremy Hunt....

Labour politicians tend to be held to higher standards, particularly as the media are more hostile. The Tories are always mired in corruption and sleaze and often get away with it.

People to expect more from Labour as well because they're supposed to be on the side of working people. Everyone knows the Tories are all out for themselves. Ultimately politicians, as a breed, are not good people.

Alexandra2001 · 13/04/2024 07:03

WhatsTheUseOfWorrying · 12/04/2024 20:53

That’s nonsense. The MP asked the police to look further. The police haven’t been ordered to do anything.

Honourable? Labour? You’re heading for a fall there I think.

No its not nonsense, the Police said there was nothing to investigate, a Tory Chair told them to re appraise and they did.... you try that if your mower got nicked from your garden shed, the Police wouldn't even come out, let alone investigate.....
Daly used his position to get the Police to overturn their previous stance & they complied.

Heading for a fall? again no, i said very early on, that AR has to stand down if she has either dodged tax or broken the law.

Will you accept the Police' decision should they again find nothing to investigate or continue with your insinuations?

Can you point to Tory ministers who have stood down after being found guilty of tax evasion or breaking the law?

Very good point. They're really gunning for her. They wouldn't bother if she was no threat.

HRTQueen · 13/04/2024 09:09

I don’t agree she is a particular threat she is an easy target because she has the highest profile and is marmite. Labour as a whole are a treat but there isn’t one particular shadow minister who is shining through. I think if anyone is it’s Rachel Reeves

they will have been digging and digging and not found anything that can be used that creates headlines but this does because of AR very vocal stance towards to all Tories

IClaudine · 13/04/2024 09:12

WhatsTheUseOfWorrying

AR seems pretty intelligent to me. She does pretty well when she stands in for Starmer at PMQs.

AR has said she will do the honourable thing and resign if she's found guilty of wrong doing. That is admirable.

IClaudine · 13/04/2024 09:16

HRTQueen Yes. The Tory press will have been delving deeply into the lives of the shadow cabinet. If this is the best they can come up with, then the shadow cabinet must be pretty clean.

I suppose they could trot out Starmer's donkey field again. 🫏 🫏 🫏

newnamethanks · 13/04/2024 13:15

Thanks, I was just wondering why the poor little donkeys were being ignored 🐴 and, haters, there's always the 🍺 to fall back on. Just a reminder. You all seem a bit desperate. Please remember, it's never too late to blame Jeremy Corbyn.

She'd be sacked if found guilty of wrongdoing surely. And there'd be nothing admirable in the scenario at all.

As far as I understand the police are only investigating the voter registration issue, which is unlikely to result in a prosecution, if only because too much time has passed.

If no prosecution would they even comment on wrong doing?

Yes, of course Starmer would sack her if she didn't step down. Stepping down voluntarily would still be an honourable thing to do. The problem is we are not used to that sort of behaviour in our politicians these days. Most of them hang on in there until the PM is forced to either sack them or downplay their wrongdoing.

Angela Rayner can do no right in some people's eyes. Why is she hated so much?

Yes stepping down is the right thing to do, but 'honourable' is a bit of a stretch for some who's been found guilty of fraud.
