I was reading an article in the Spectator this morning. Interesting to hear what people think.

I don't like him. I don't think he's intelligent enough.
I love Sunak.

How intelligent do you want?

Paul2023 · 10/01/2024 19:56

RafaistheKingofClay · 10/01/2024 18:56

You're going to have to try harder than that.

I don’t really care , it doesn’t make much difference to me who wins , Labour or conservatives because I think you can’t squeeze a fag paper between them.

Neither Sunak or Starmer will transform my life to any great degree.

Well it is going to be tough to even begin to repair the damage done, but at least there is a chance of not making life even worse than it is now.

Is defining a woman as whatever Boris Johnson says it is good enough for you?

BTW, I think you missed my earlier question. Do you believe in the rule of law?

Last time I checked , Johnson wasn’t the PM. Sunak is. But atleast when Piers Morgan asked him what a woman is he answered it.

See above post , it doesn’t really affect me who wins , Starmer or Sunak because I don’t think either will transform my life significantly.

I believe in respecting other countries rules of law and not interfering in their laws.

That is good to here.
So you are perfectly happy I presume for someone who is accused of a crime to be represented in court by a lawyer and if that court decides that the accused is not guilty you will respect that decision?

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 10/01/2024 20:09

I hate the Tories and won't vote for them. All I want is a centre-left part to vote for, which doesn't pretend to believe people can change sex. I'm sure Starmer is intelligent, and I don't particularly care that he's boring. But I think he's a disingenuous coward. To keep the Tories out in my constituency I need to vote Lib Dem (who have won the last umpteen times here), but they are even worse on gender, I think. The Tories were close on their heels last time, with Labour trailing miles behind.

RafaistheKingofClay · 10/01/2024 20:10

On the basis that we've had Johnson and Truss recently I don't think not being intelligent enough is going to be an issue for Starmer.

And he can beat Sunak into a cocked hat in any debate.

you may want to bring that up with the current government and the foreign office. Not to mention any number of human rights organisations and trade deal negotiators.

Isn’t that the point of a trial ? To deter if someone is innocent or guilty ?

Im off now to lead my transgender life at night as Paula.. night all. Ps , I’ll Google what a woman is !

It is indeed the point of a trial.

So one would look fairly daft if one were to criticise a lawyer for doing a good job by their client.

I am glad we have clarified that.

IClaudine · 10/01/2024 20:17

Paul has adopted a Clav-esque vanishing act. Make a change from I have to go out now, I suppose.

What about someone who can't remember what sex his children are?

Scraping the barrel there.

BIossomtoes · 10/01/2024 22:01

Zonder · 10/01/2024 21:49

Scraping the barrel there.

Indeed. Especially when we’ve had a PM who can’t remember how many children he’s got.

Oh my aching sides. A barrister who became a KC and DPP versus someone who doesn't know how to use a debit card and can't remember anything he did during the pandemic. Preceded by a woman who is as thick as mince.

Well starmer maybe about to become a bit more interesting. The cps was involved in a number of prosecutions of post masters, yet to be announced how many was on starmers watch..

DuncinToffee · 10/01/2024 22:34

Oh hi Paul2023, I see you are asking exactly the same questions on another thread.

Farage got community noted for saying that with:

Royal Mail Horizon prosecutions were private criminal prosecutions.

“This is not uncommon in England. Organisations like the RSPCA regularly bring private criminal prosecutions.

“The Crown Prosecution Service (and Director of Public Prosecutions) are not involved in these.”

Summarised, the Post Office prosecute their own cases and the CPS that Starmer led had no say or power over it

That was only one of the answers he's given. Previously he said a woman is whatever Boris Johnson said. I dare say if he got a big enough bung from Blossom Hill he'd go all Swiss Tony and tell us a woman is like a fine wine.Grin

No connection with Starmer thankfully.

Sorry to disappoint, but:

While the Post Office itself prosecuted hundreds of post office operators based on the faulty Horizon IT system, it has emerged from official reviews that 10 cases taken by the CPS resulted in convictions. Three occurred while Starmer was DPP.

(Apparently he wasn't even aware of those three cases as they never crossed his desk).
