I was reading an article in the Spectator this morning. Interesting to hear what people think.

Isn't that a David Cameron quote?

Probably, he was an arse as well.

EasternStandard · 30/12/2023 13:03

So far Starmer is ok to stay silent, someone might steal his ideas after all

Beyond that a caring look in his eyes* but no extra funding

Something about off shore processing ‘working’ ie a process for rising numbers

All wrapped in gender ideology and no challenge, or like Duffield you’re out

At least he’s boring so that’s good

*unless you want sex based rights then ‘no one is talking about that’

The Tories did. Remember Penny Mordaunt giving out at the Despatch Box that TWAW and TMAM? She was talking about the Maternity Bill!Shock

Still waiting for an answer to:

Can you name one Tory MP boo-ing from the sidelines when a female MP of any ilk spoke about the importance of codifying woman as a sex and not a series of stereotypes? Or one female Tory MP who was told not to attend a party conference for heretical opinions on gender?

So far I have had Cleverly is mean and Mordaunt is a moron - happy to agree with both statements but neither address the question. It's almost like if you keep flinging shit you expect the original question will be lost

What are the Tories' policies for the next five years other than Rwanda? They keep u-turning or gormlessly uttering slogans and vague non-specifics. Although they are planning to make the lives of the disabled harder.

Anyway, let's wait a few weeks for the election manifestos and we'll see more clearly who stands for what.

dubsie · 30/12/2023 14:22

Is Rishi interesting? I'd say he's boring and a complete spoon....the guy doesn't live on planet earth

But he's a man of the people! He buys mince pies.

itsgettingweird · 30/12/2023 14:32

I don't know anything about sports? Okay, I defer to Sharon Davies and her concern for grassroot sports where mediocre athletes are stealing women's stepping stones to professional recognition.

You can refer me to what you like.

Shall I refer you to British swimmings policies on transgender athletes? Or swim England across all aquatics sports?

Just because there has been issues and governments have ignored them and athletes have spoken out doesn't mean that nothing has been done.

Sports have made changes and as you've specifically referred to Sharon Davies I'm happy to discuss swimming with you.

Tell me about how your swimmers has experienced problems with trans in sport and I'll tell you about what my ds has faced and the policies he swims under

Sadly some are for this outcome. The expected gender ideology from Labour is wanted. There won’t be extra funding so just gender as the difference.

Edited

I'd say that stability, efficiency, the rule of law and direction will be the the difference Labour will campaign on. The Tories would be very silly to campaign on opposing the trans shitshow they've been responsible for.

I mean they can try, but most people have copped on to the CCHQ lie "at least the Tories know what a woman is".Hmm

YoullCatchYourDeathInTheFog · 30/12/2023 14:44

Both Keir and Rishi are interesting in that they've risen from fairly normal backgrounds via good educations, and in Rishi's case an exceptional marriage, to positions of national and international prominence. You may not like either of them but they've clearly got more oomph than the vast majority of people. Yes Rishi's parents were well paid professionals who managed to send him to public school, but it's a long way from there to where he's reached.

I guess you could see Rishi as the Kate Middleton of politics, which is interesting by anyone's standards.

”know what a woman is”

That phrase is about as relevant as “moral panic” “culture wars” or whatever shite TRA aligned posters use. Including Labour in that, as a way to deflect and ‘not talk about it’.

It’s sex based rights for women that some of us care about.

PTSDBarbiegirl · 30/12/2023 14:55

Boring isn't the problem. I don't know what he stands for or if the Labour party know what biological sex is. Can't vote for a party who presided over decades and decades and decades of deprivation in some of our biggest cities.

TooBigForMyBoots · 30/12/2023 14:57

I am very keen on women's sex based rights. Unlike the Tory party who have a terrifying rape culture, have spent the past 13 years ceding our rights to TRAs and making women's lives more difficult on multiple levels.

You probably skip over Kemi Badenoch’s commitment, someone actually batting on our behalf, as not Labour

So can you answer directly who will be challenging gender ideology from Labour?

Labour MPs including ex-shadow equalities minister back 'gender-critical' group

Labour MPs including ex-shadow equalities minister Marsha de Cordova, have backed the "gender-critical" Labour Women's Declaration.

I see it as more bullshit from the bullshit party who've wrecked women's rights and spin on a sixpence. I notice you've skipped over this. As you've skipped over the rape culture in the Party. And the TRAs in the party. Conservatives For Women polled Tory MPs earlier this year and found that around 50% believed TWAW. I've no idea how much heavy lifting the word "around" is doing.

The Tory Party is dangerous to women and our sex based rights.

TooBigForMyBoots · 30/12/2023 15:24

I'll leave it up to the Labour supporters to defend the Labour Party.

You say you are keen on sex based rights for women so who are you relying on?

Kemi is one but obviously you want her out. Who else?

This is interesting - do you have a link or anything?

BIossomtoes · 30/12/2023 15:33

You missed the link @EasternStandard?

EasternStandard · 30/12/2023 15:37

The group of politicians, which also included Rosie Duffield…

Labour is not treating Duffield well.

LGBT+ Labour has been gunning for her for a while now

Unfortunately unlike Baroness Falkner who was also hounded she does not have a Kemi to step in

Grimpo · 30/12/2023 15:43

I would love a boring Prime Minister. Politics has certainly been interesting over the last few years, but at an absolutely horrendous cost to the country.

Unfortunately not. It was in one of their Newsletters. I tried to sign up to receive them but was unsuccessful. I think my postcode might have rendered me ineligible.

I’ve just signed up - all they ask for is your email address.

Edited to add that I can’t find anything about the poll of MPs on their website.
