From what I can see, after his entirely unconvincing "position" on gaza he has essentially disappeared from view. Blair notoriously used to do this a lot when he wanted to avoid legitimate questions, leaving brown nosing slaves to face questions from the proles.
So over to the mnet net, which I know has wise tentacles everwhere
Has the famous SIR dropped into your church fete/tombola recently? Selfies welcome.

They aren't suggesting it should be an armed conflict with the EU, so that's a start (Ben Habib clarified this)

Oh. That's disappointing.
Is there any evidence they know what a woman is and how to treat them?

DuncinToffee · 03/01/2024 14:48

Nothing on their website about their policies on women's rights

Is that the Reform or Labour website?

pointythings · 03/01/2024 17:21

I wish the UK would get over its obsession with class. It's 2024, not 1924.

..on the Conservative website.

I think it is important that I know my place and that I doff my cap to my superiors, who obviously know better because they are my superiors and therefore I will continue voting for them like a turkey for Christmas.

Disappointingly, I’ve looked at labour , reform and conservative websites and non of them have women’s rights on the front page. The reform party website seems to be the least well thought through, so there is that.

Its very poor from all the main parties, inc LD's, we make up over 50% of the population.

Labour did seem to be about the future with five policy areas, rather than 5 pledges made 12months ago, non of which they have actually achieved (inflation halved because of global events, it was nothing to do with what they or the BOE have done)

DuncinToffee · 03/01/2024 19:52

I had to laugh at the Starmergeddon on Reform, the photoshop use was awful

jasflowers · 03/01/2024 20:02

Life is too short to look at a far right party's website, though i did look at the Tory one, tbh they are only one notch across from Reform.

Tice is awful.

Keir Starmer's speech in full with the Q&A.

jgw1 · 04/01/2024 13:20

I understand that Sunak has turned up today and announced that he can't win a May election. Is that the first time he has been honest this year?

Do you have a link that isn't twatter?
All I can see is someone saying that this is the best bit:

"I promise this, a politics which treads a little lighter on all our lives. That’s the thing about populism or nationalism. It needs your full attention, needs you constantly focussing on this week’s common enemy. And that’s exhausting"

If that's the best bit I won't be getting excited any time soon.

Edited

It’s not the best bit. By a very long chalk.

I am sure you could have googled it but will a youtube link do?

you and I think others do keep suggesting I google (not the best response in a conversation).
I assure you that I can use google and will be back when more time (hopefully tomorrow) with some of my finds.
In the meantime, since this is a forum/conversation, could you say what you personally found to be the best bits/most inspiring? Direct quotes if possible.
(yours from London and the north)

You could just say 'thank you for sharing'

It's a conversation.
Your suggestion that I google was a tad condescending.
My question about what you found the best bits was perfectly reasonable and polite.
Since you seem to have watched/listened to it, would you care to answer?
(I did briefly scan some of the comments which after an initial flood of yelping seemed to become somewhat more critical)
anyway over you you - unless you are a google bot of course.

What does from London and the north mean exactly? What happened to everywhere else?

BIossomtoes · 04/01/2024 16:17

Why not just devote an hour to watching the speech and the Q&A @Offwiththecircus? That way you get it unfiltered and you can form your own opinion. You could just listen to it while doing some mindless chores like I did.

It means I am from London and the north. Would have thought clear.
Not dissing east or west obviously.
Maybe I put it as there was maybe a post upthread implying that I was in some sort of London bubble.
Am not I think.

Upthread you yourself talked about being from a London liberal community iirc.

well since you posted

maybe you could expand.
Am not unfortunately in a position to attack any mindless chores at the moment.

I have feet in both London and the north.
Does it matter?
Or is someone trying to tailor their response according to some sort of assumption/marketing targetting?
