Reports on sky news say that Boris might stand again for PM. How do you feel about that?

Hmm, it could be worse. It's gonna be him or Rishi or Penny Mordaunt I think.

AssignedSlytherinAtBirth · 20/10/2022 19:00

Imagine Boris as Head of your kid's school. Then tell me you think he's suited to be PM.
He is entertaining and can turn a phrase when required - his tribute to the Queen was very eloquent. But totally untrustworthy.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 20/10/2022 19:02

hmm
he wasnt he only one partying though

however some who are able to vote like him and some hate him
the media are just trying to rile up interest

AssignedSlytherinAtBirth · 20/10/2022 19:02

He is just self -serving. Him and his corrupt mates.

EddieHowesBlackandWhiteArmy · 20/10/2022 19:03

I can’t express the fury I am feeling at the calls for that useless lying sack of shit to come back. What does it say about us as a country if we’re happy to be governed by that knowing everything it has done in the past to make us a laughing stock across the world. I don’t think I’ve ever felt as hopeless or as helpless as I do now in relation to politics.

The man is an embarrassment to the country, nay, the human race and he can’t lead his way out of a paper bag. So he has funny hair and talks with a posh accent and blusters in an ‘amusing way’, i am enraged that this is as much as we expect from our leaders if he gets back into power.

Guy Fawkes had the right idea.

Topseyt123 · 20/10/2022 19:03

The reasons Boris was ousted are still there. All already discussed on this thread too. They haven't gone away.

Putting him back in post would be utterly ridiculous.

My preference out of all of the possible candidates would be Rishi Sunak. He's not perfect and has also made some big faux pas, but seems a generally slightly safer pair of hands. Best of a bad bunch.

I'm not a Tory voter though. I'd like to see a general election in the next few weeks but they are trying hard not to give that, aren't they? They know they would lose hands down.

Kendodd · 20/10/2022 19:03

Croque · 20/10/2022 18:31

My actual choice would be Philip Hammond or Rory Stewart but they are nowhere to be found right now.

Were they both booted out of the Tories for being too sensible?

MrsLargeEmbodied · 20/10/2022 19:04

how would rishi and jeremy hunt work togethr?

the80sweregreat · 20/10/2022 19:05

Rory Stewart isn't an MP, so his out the running

Gettingtooldforthis · 20/10/2022 19:06

Please stop, this is already being reported overseas as a possibility. We are an international laughing stock. It's the equivalent of re-electing Trump

Bluesheep8 · 20/10/2022 19:06

The fuss about parties etc was totally unnecessary - I don't know anybody who cared about that

Anyone who lost a loved one that they were unable to see at that time cares very much indeed.

Callmesadie · 20/10/2022 19:06

No! The world already thinks we are idiots.
General election so the public can decide whether to keep the Tories or opt for a change.

An acquaintance worked with Boris years ago, and said out of all the politicians he was by far the most fun to go to the pub with. His colleagues are fond of him, as a person.

You’re bang on with the head teacher analogy though!!

Clarabella77 · 20/10/2022 19:08

No fucking way. I don't know how anyone can seriously think this is the answer. It's an absolute mess. Boris was part of the journey leading to this shambles. A caretaker leader/PM then a snap general election is the only way to achieve a sensible government right now.

And it has never been about just parties. It is about standards, moral purpose, honestly, trust...all severely lacking.

He was supposed to be leading the country, hardly a model to follow.

I think Liz Truss should have stuck it out.

Really? I doubt resigning was even her choice.

I don't want a prime minister who is fun to go to the pub with, I want one who can actually do a competent job of running the country.

Jaffacats · 20/10/2022 19:11

Boris faced a vote of no confidence and was forced to resign. If he’s voted back as PM it will be another nail in their coffin. The party has been very damaged by recent events and it’s going to take a strong, reliable leader to restore some faith in their party.

Skyellaskerry · 20/10/2022 19:13

@Jaffacats well yes but if the Tory party members get to choose…

The vast majority were not and more to the point, they weren't standing up and telling us all to stay in etc etc.

Where nurses partying on the 7th floor staff canteen after their shifts?

Few allowed a party at their home on the eve of Prince Phillips funeral either.

But bring him on, he'll soon be out again.

Does Zelenskiy know about that dodgy Russian oligarch, Evgeny Lebedev Johnson gave a peerage to - the guy MI6 warned Johnson about?

Good point

CharlieBoo · 20/10/2022 19:13

I think it will be him too! The public seem to want him.. and tbh I’d rather him than Sunak

Absolutely. 3 months my dying husband was in hospital, without a single visitor and we had to restict the numbers at his funeral.

People trying to pretend no-one cared about the parties makes me apoplectic.

He's never at work, is he?
