RowanMumsnet · 22/05/2019 16:09

Hello

As lots of you will know, eligible electors in the UK can head to the polls on Thursday 23 May to vote in the EU parliamentary elections.

We've put together a page with a few facts about this election in the UK (apologies for not covering other EU countries in any detail but you can find more info here).

Let us know on this thread when you've voted (you don't have to tell us how) and we will reward you with an emoticon of your choice*

Polls are open 7am to 10pm on Thursday and remember you DON'T need your polling card to vote.

*From the existing emoticons - we're not magic

I went with Lib Dem
I used to vote labour

GirlsBlouse17 · 23/05/2019 16:22

I voted libdem!

BettyCrockaShit · 23/05/2019 16:25

Another long-time Labour supporter turned Lib Dem voter here. Never thought I'd defect from Labour, but the last 18 months have been a total shitshow and I see no viable alternative.

Topseyt · 23/05/2019 16:38

Just voted LibDem.

Caplin · 23/05/2019 16:39

Lib dem here :-) I will do every single thing in my power to stop this madness.

People don't even seem bothered that 20,000 people will lose their jobs in the North, partly due to Brexit. Meanwhile, Mr Garage, Rees-Mogg and Bojo have safely squirreled their millions in offshore investment accounts, so they will be just fine regardless. It beggars belief!

thecatneuterer · 23/05/2019 16:55

Well I went along fully intending to vote for Change UK (that's what Remainers in London are urged to vote by that Remain website). Then I saw that The Animal Welfare Party were fielding a candidate, so I had to change my vote to them. I wish you could have two votes.

MrsFrTedCrilly · 23/05/2019 17:06

Voted at 9am this morning. I’m in the most Brexity part of the country. Hoping there’ll be a surge for the Lib Dem’s and somehow we can repeal article 50 and put this whole shit show to rest...
Realistically I think it’s going to be big wins for Farage and similar brainless goons Angry

Tiscold · 23/05/2019 17:08

@BettyCrockaShit. Don't see it as you defecting from Labour, see it as them defevting from their basic principles of protecting and doing what's best for the working class. With 25k jobs in scunthorpe and the north at risk due to the closure of the steel works due to massive drops in eu trade due to uncertainty it would be foolish to support a party that is pro brexit

Iambuffy · 23/05/2019 17:13

Voted labour all my life.

Voted green today.

ginghambox · 23/05/2019 17:17

Normally vote Conservative , Brexit Party today.

Sonicknuckles · 23/05/2019 17:20

I voted green for the first time today

TigerTooth · 23/05/2019 17:22

Yep and am ditching a long loyalty to conservative and going green.
Have been a really bad mum and didn’t remind my DD who is now 18 to register because she’d vote labour.
Well - she’s an adult nw - she should have done it herself, I opened my mouth to tell her when our cards came through but not hers and then I clamped my mouth shut and said nothing.

TigerTooth · 23/05/2019 17:25

Seems to me that old labour voters have gone lib-dem and conservatives going Green. Can’t wait for results - will be a fascinating one.

colouringinpro · 23/05/2019 17:27

Always vote.
Voted.
Lib Dem.

FiremanKing

If I lived in the North West i would vote for Tommy Robinson but I don’t so I will be voting for Lance Forman/Brexit Party*

I understand Brecht party if that’s the statement you want to make but Tommy Robinson is so full of hate - why would you want that?

dArtagnansCrumpet · 23/05/2019 17:40

I usually vote Labour but Ive just voted Green for the first time. I think the brexit party will get the seat in my area sadly.

MonnieMoo · 23/05/2019 17:45

Aye, I will be. Plaid Cymru for me! Haven’t done it yet but am going with the OH after tea.

I appear to have been denied my democratic right to vote as i registered for a postal vote as in europe currently and the paperwork turned up late, so thank you for your failure Vale of White Horse council. When i called them the electoral voting officer said we'll post some new ones, oh yes that is really going to help isn't it, and then she said Ok? No not ok, really not ok, at all, actually.

BettyCrockaShit · 23/05/2019 18:07

Well put @Tiscold. I'm staunchly pro-Remain and there's no way I could ever back a party that wasn't. This thread has been quite heartening.

Gertie75 · 23/05/2019 18:08

I voted Brexit party, my area was 58.8% leave in the referendum so it'll be interesting to see the results tomorrow.

ContinuityError · 23/05/2019 18:25

it'll be interesting to see the results tomorrow

Results will be on Sunday evening, after polls have closed in Europe.

ddl1 · 23/05/2019 18:26

Voted LibDem.

AhNowTed · 23/05/2019 18:27

I always vote Labour but this time I voted Green.

I couldn't bring myself to vote LD.
