RowanMumsnet · 22/05/2019 16:09

Hello

As lots of you will know, eligible electors in the UK can head to the polls on Thursday 23 May to vote in the EU parliamentary elections.

We've put together a page with a few facts about this election in the UK (apologies for not covering other EU countries in any detail but you can find more info here).

Let us know on this thread when you've voted (you don't have to tell us how) and we will reward you with an emoticon of your choice*

Polls are open 7am to 10pm on Thursday and remember you DON'T need your polling card to vote.

*From the existing emoticons - we're not magic

Plan to vote this afternoon. It is a slightly pointless vote as we're leaving the EU but I will use it to show I support remain parties by voting green

WeCameToDance · 23/05/2019 12:37

Yes, I will be voting when I pick ds up from nursery. First time voting Lib Dem, I hope there's a decent turn out as I have heard lots of people saying they are never voting again.

Unshriven · 23/05/2019 12:40

I've just voted Lib Dem.

Boggle-eyed Brexit area here, but there's no point in going on People's Vote marches etc. if you then decide voting is pointless.

I'm hoping the Lib Dems will trounce the Brexit lot - like when everyone thought Trump and Brexit had no chance..but then..

I bet the BBC would still manage to declare it as 'the people sending a message about wanting the first referendum results upheld' though Hmm .

blackteasplease · 23/05/2019 12:47

Lib dems. As are most people I know.

I am usually a Labour voter, well I always was...

AhhhHereItGoes · 23/05/2019 12:50

Just voted Star

BlingLoving · 23/05/2019 12:55

View in my area seems to be vote for Lib democrats or green are both good. I went with lib dems. Normally a die hard labour voter, but honestly, between Brexit and Corbyn it's impossible. DH and I were just discussing this morning how different things might have been if a different leader had been in charge of Labour over the last 3 years.

TowerRingInferno · 23/05/2019 12:56

I will definitely vote later but I still can’t actually decide who to vote for.

ethelfleda · 23/05/2019 12:58

I’ve voted. LibDem for me.

wonkylegs · 23/05/2019 13:02

@Firecarrier
These elitist buffoons living in their London bubble don't represent me or anyone I know.

Funnily enough the only parties fielding MEP candidates who originate from outside our region and have no real ties to it (a long way from london) are the Brexit Party and UKIP
all the rest live & work here with a large proportion being born here too.

FiremanKing · 23/05/2019 13:12

If I lived in the North West i would vote for Tommy Robinson but I don’t so I will be voting for Lance Forman/Brexit Party.

Unshriven · 23/05/2019 13:30

@FiremanKing , humour me.

What do you think will be better afer a (hard?) Brexit?

In terms of free movemrnt, economics, trade etc?

When I ask people at work they just say 'Farage.. man of the people..talks sense..'.

But he's a millionaire. It makes sense for him and his investments. what about ordinary people?

ethelfleda · 23/05/2019 13:33

If you care about Democracy at all then you should be voting for the Brexit Party

The irony.
If you care about democracy you wouldn’t tell other people how they should vote.

IsabellaLinton · 23/05/2019 13:33

Just voted. Brexit Party for me.

Willowcat77 · 23/05/2019 14:13

Voted. Would normally vote Labour but voted Lib Dem to support Remain.

Tanith · 23/05/2019 14:15

My DS arrived home just before lunch, over 100 miles journey so he can vote today. He'll be going back to college later.

He puts you to shame, JoanneSmith237, he really does!

ethelfleda · 23/05/2019 14:38

Interesting video with Stephen Fry on the subject...

TheNumberfaker · 23/05/2019 14:41

Just back from voting. Glorious sunshine walk as an added bonus.
I voted Lib Dem, as I have since the 2016 referendum. Previously a Labour voter.

TheElementsSong · 23/05/2019 14:44

I always vote.

TravellingSpoon · 23/05/2019 15:02

Lib Dem member here so have voted for my party members.

Anything to see of Farage and his bunch of loons. I was quite surprised that we have Green and an Independent here, normally we dont get that much to choose from.

MidsomerBurgers · 23/05/2019 15:22

Got back from voting about 20 minutes ago and it was dead quiet.

nespressowoo · 23/05/2019 15:25

Lib Dem 👍🏻

NewGrandad · 23/05/2019 15:32

Voted first thing this morning. SNP .

WorriedMutha · 23/05/2019 15:45

Labour member voted Lib Dem. Whole family the same.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 23/05/2019 15:52

I was a LibDem voter but have switched to Plaid Cymru after the debacle of recent years...

happyhillock · 23/05/2019 15:58
