Hello

As lots of you will know, eligible electors in the UK can head to the polls on Thursday 23 May to vote in the EU parliamentary elections.

We've put together a page with a few facts about this election in the UK (apologies for not covering other EU countries in any detail but you can find more info here).

Let us know on this thread when you've voted (you don't have to tell us how) and we will reward you with an emoticon of your choice*

Polls are open 7am to 10pm on Thursday and remember you DON'T need your polling card to vote.

*From the existing emoticons - we're not magic

Might be worth a look at Gina Millers website. They’ve conducted pretty in depth research on how people would be best tactically voting in all of the constituencies/wider regions.

Calyx72 · 23/05/2019 10:25

Sent postal vote as did DP. SNP for remain.

Notonthestairs · 23/05/2019 10:26

Voted LibDem.

PanamaPattie · 23/05/2019 10:30

Can someone please explain why I should vote for a MEP that may out of a job soon?

MustardScreams · 23/05/2019 10:32

@PanamaPattie because the UK will be using the votes as a soft referendum to gauge where the country is at re Brexit. Which will help them work out how best to move forward in the future.

AnnPerkins · 23/05/2019 10:48

Langrish

Gina Miller's website is remainunited.org. They recommend votin LibDem.

Remainvoter.com recommends voting Green.

You can see why I'm undecided can't you Grin

TinyCheese · 23/05/2019 10:55

I will definitely vote this evening, just not sure whether for Lib Dems or Greens. Usually vote for Labour and was hoping to vote for Change UK, but according to all pro-Remain sites it will be pointless.

ElenadeClermont · 23/05/2019 11:04

Have voted.

Hotterthanahotthing · 23/05/2019 11:21

I wiil be putting something.Have no idea who the candidates are.If non look viable I will split the paper.

WiseUpJanetWeiss · 23/05/2019 11:26

These elitist buffoons living in their London bubble don't represent me or anyone I know

Oh Firecarrier, you do amuse me.

The irony....

Pinkvoid · 23/05/2019 11:28

Yep, going on the way to pick the kids up from school. Lib Dem’s have my vote this time.

Gth1234 · 23/05/2019 11:30

Of course. I think JRM's sister is top of the Brexit list in the Midlands. It's like a Brucie bonus.

bellinisurge · 23/05/2019 11:33

Dear @Firecarrier , I don't live in London, I live in a strong Leave voting area , in fact a strong Yaxley Lennon area. You vote how you want and I will do the same.
Faridge/Yaxley Lennon/the other one - they are all snake oil salesmen and I ain't buying.

Thatsnotmyname4291 · 23/05/2019 11:39

Voted proudly by post a couple of weeks ago. Normally I struggle to choose whether to vote labour or Lib Dem but this time it was between Lib Dem or green.

mydogisthebest · 23/05/2019 11:43

Yes me and DH will be voting later. Both going to vote for the Brexit party.

Rooftree · 23/05/2019 11:49

Yes and I’m voting green, we need to get a message to the government about the environment

brontolo · 23/05/2019 11:51

I've voted. LibDem :)

Stoic123 · 23/05/2019 11:56

Voted. Normally Labour voter- Lib Dem this time.

AvocadosBeforeMortgages · 23/05/2019 11:56

Yes. Voting tactically for the lib dems. I'm normally a Labour voter (and member) but I'm angry over their Brexit fence sitting; I only feel able to support a party unequivocally supporting a second referendum.

Tiscold · 23/05/2019 11:58

@Firecarrier, and farage isn't elite?
He receives as an mep an annual salary of over 100k.
He rented a house in westminister worth over 12k a month.
He received a donation of over 450k from arron banks.
He has been paid into a business account eather then personal to help him evade all his moral tax obligations.
He set up a company and trust on the isle of man that would let him avoid his moral tax obligations.

But apprently he's the man of the people?

Tommy robinson is a convicted criminal, of mortgage fraud, assault, false documents where he illegally tried to enter america on a false document, need i go on?

HateIsNotGood · 23/05/2019 12:04

Yes - just voted - usually vote Green but for this election I voted Brexit Party. SW Region.

ContinuityError · 23/05/2019 12:07

Whether you personally like Mr Garage or not - I don't particularly. These elitist buffoons living in their London bubble don't represent me or anyone I know.

Does this include the elite London bubble buffoons bunged £450k for a posh house in Chelsea and a car with a driver?

Peridot1 · 23/05/2019 12:07

Voted by postal vote. Am in SW and voted Green. Am very pro remain. Am also Irish and hate that Brexit will likely shit on Ireland from a great height.

Joked half seriously with DH about confiscating his vote as although he voted Remain he would now vote Leave. He hasn’t voted. We can’t talk about Brexit without a huge row.

justasking111 · 23/05/2019 12:09

What interested me was the quick turnaround of voters this morning, no hesitating or reading the ballot paper, just a cross and off they went. It was busy but they were processing quickly.
