I actually thought they would win, and there was nothing anyone could do. Now I think they will lose.

Yeah because left wing people never deal with any abuse. How many times are people called "the liberal elite", "lefttards". "whinging lefties".

Bit different to be told you are morally corrupt, the rulung elite, selfish, stupod, thick, racist, a fascist and to fuck off and die which are all things I have seen being said about those that dare to say they have a different opinion.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 01/06/2017 12:05

Massive typos sorry

Sionella · 01/06/2017 12:07

OT but I always thought it was "swinging the leg" Blush

JustAnotherPoster00 · 01/06/2017 12:08

Lol Sionella Flowers

HelenaDove · 01/06/2017 12:09

Do you mean swinging the lead as in they dont want to work? Because at 67 DH is retired. And still being transferred from DLA to PIP.

HelenaDove · 01/06/2017 12:10

And DLA is not an out of work benefit anyway. Neither is PIP.

NoLotteryWinYet · 01/06/2017 12:10

I particularly enjoy being told I shouldn't be a labour party member because I'm not a Corbyn supporter and am a moderate/blairite after 20 years of always voting labour too. It's that kind of nonsense that is totally alienating.

NoLotteryWinYet · 01/06/2017 12:11

my phone auto-correct continually puts Corbyn as Corbin - that's where a lot of the mis-spellings of his name come I reckon as you have to keep correcting it.

dontcallmelen · 01/06/2017 12:20

@HelenaDove I really hope it goes well for your Dh this afternoon, I attended an assessment with my dd last week(she has an autoimmune disease & various other issues) it wasn't pleasant very very intrusive & downright hostile at times, hoping your assessor has some compassion 💐

tabbymog · 01/06/2017 13:08

On any measures, any Tory party member would think I'm an archetypal Tory voter. I've had enough of them bray in my face so condescendingly. I'm a lifelong Labour voter and party member. When I was a child my conservative (deliberate small 'c') parents needed urgent help to be rehoused into a single storey home because of my Dad's health, and Bristol City Council wouldn't listen. This was Bristol South East constituency so any Labour person will know where I'm going with this.

Our constituency MP moved heaven and earth to get my parents that accommodation; a prefab, yes, but it saved my Dad's life, the second time a Labour MP had done that, the first was Nye Bevan and his NHS creation. Our MP called on my parents, who never voted for him but he never asked, every time he was in the constituency, without fail. The best constituency MP ever IMHO, we need more like him. That was Tony Benn, or Anthony Wedgwood Benn as he was at the time. A great human being. RIP.

histinyhandsarefrozen · 01/06/2017 13:37

That's a lovely story, tabbymog.

The80sweregreat · 01/06/2017 13:40

Zone, id vote for that party!

woman12345 · 01/06/2017 13:42

what histinyhandsarefrozen said, thanks tabbymog

HelenaDove · 01/06/2017 13:45

melen Thanks

It wasnt too bad. It lasted less than an hour.

He was quite patient with DH.

Sionella · 01/06/2017 13:45

These stats are interesting: www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-40117521

The figures also show that the top 1% of taxpayers had a 12% share of total income, and were liable for 27.7% of all income tax

So just 1.2% of people are paying 27.7% of all income tax in the UK. It really wouldn't take that many people to relocate for the UK to lose almost a third of its tax intake.

Sionella · 01/06/2017 13:46

Sorry, that's 1.2% of tax payers, not 1.2% of people. There's 30million out of about 60million who are tax payers.

LynetteScavo · 01/06/2017 13:53

I think Conservatives will win.

They'll then mess everything up so much Labour will be in for quite some time after that.

I think if Labour win and they have to try to sort out the mess that is Brexit, Conservatives will be in again at the following election.

HelenaDove · 01/06/2017 13:54

worship thats ridiculous.

PanGalaticGargleBlaster · 01/06/2017 14:01

Most polls suggesting a 40 seat win for May

dontcallmelen · 01/06/2017 14:02

@HelenaDove glad it went ok, will keep everything crossed for a good outcome.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 01/06/2017 14:03

Most polls suggesting a 40 seat win for May

Polls range from 40-90 ish seats.

Latest YouGov projection thingy has Tories at 4 point lead which is 1 up from yesterday.

derxa · 01/06/2017 14:08

It's the baby boomers (not all of them obvs) - they are determined to send this country to the dogs. Yes they want the Winter of Discontent back. Hmm
It's all very difficult to tell what will happen. In our house we have or will vote for 3 different parties. I like Jeremy Corbyn but could never vote for him. He has stuck to his principles all of his political life and that's quite admirable. I don't want him, Abbot, McDonnell and Thornbury in power though. DH thinks May is an idiot. So much confusion. I could kick David Cameron up the arse for starting it all.

derxa · 01/06/2017 14:12

I think the SNP will lose a lot of seats to the Tories.

Believeitornot · 01/06/2017 14:15

Part of me wants the Tories to win a small majority

Then fuck up brexit, which they will

I can only hope we can recover our country after 5 years of their shit

derxa · 01/06/2017 14:17

Then fuck up brexit, which they will I don't know why you would want that though.
