I actually thought they would win, and there was nothing anyone could do. Now I think they will lose.

As I said already, plenty of GENUINELY disabled people deserve to be on the benefit, but everyone knows someone who has been swinging the lead.

Don't pretend it's not true.

Ravenblack · 01/06/2017 00:23

And as I said, those 'figures' mean nothing.

Cakeahoy · 01/06/2017 00:24

What's that saying again? You can't argue with....

Those figures mean nothing

Yes, do keep on showing your ignorance. It's nice when Tory voters get to see some of the underbelly they've got voting with them.

Vango · 01/06/2017 00:24

I'd like to hear from a Tory voter which of the Labour Party pledges offends them as much as the Tory welfare and education proposals offend me?

JustAnotherPoster00 · 01/06/2017 00:24

but everyone knows someone who has been swinging the lead.

Everyone thinks they know someone thats doing it I dont doubt thats why the tory narrative of striver not scrounger worked so well

Dawndonnaagain · 01/06/2017 00:25

Raven, what a funny way of arguing. You have a go at the left for disagreeing with you. Yet when presented with facts and figures which go against your disablist claims, you say those figures mean nothing. Sorry, but your reasoning is a tad odd, perhaps you'd explain.
Whilst you're at it, perhaps you can provide evidence for all these people you claim are 'swinging the lead'.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 01/06/2017 00:25

I don't imagine they will bother to engage with you about it - what's the point? You aren't looking for discussion

JustAnotherPoster00 yes, depressing how easy it is to coax the hard if thinking into 'othering' the vulnerable,

Sittinonthefloor · 01/06/2017 00:26

It is not disablist to point out that some people have pretended to be disabled to claim benefits they are not entitled too - and thus reduced the 'pot' for the genuine claimants. Stress, back pain, anxiety etc are not difficult to fake. It's not wrong to be cross about this - I'd have thought the people in real need would be angriest of all! We need a rational discussion of how to allocate the funding - not just a load of shouting! What system can we have that perfectly balances providing for the vulnerable ensuring no one slips through the net with encouraging those who can work / seek work to do so?

ShoesHaveSouls · 01/06/2017 00:27

If the facts that disabled and terminally ill people are dying due to Tory austerity doesn't affect people's voting, then nothing will. Someone ranting at you on MN shouldn't really make a difference - but the facts and figures should.

There is low fraud for disability benefits - particularly in the last couple of years since austerity really hit and the govt used private companies for assessment. There are real documented cases of deaths due to people having their benefits stopped. Real people, human beings.

I don't know how the people that have orchestrated this, or turn a blind to it, sleep at night, but there you go.

Vango · 01/06/2017 00:28

Is that to me Livia?

christinarossetti · 01/06/2017 00:28

It's a shame that the Tory leader doesn't seem to see the benefit of engaging in debate.

MrsABrown72 · 01/06/2017 00:28

I think TM is throwing it away tbh...

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 01/06/2017 00:29

Yes it was (thread had moved on when I posted)

Killdora · 01/06/2017 00:29

Dawndonnaagain I've got a funny feeling, call it a hunch, these aren't the sort of people that would take kindly to any disabled person moaning.

After all, there are just sooo many on the fiddle, swimming in their money pools with non dodgy backs cos that's all you need you know, to fake a dodgy back, everyone knows one doing it

We may be wasting our breath,

Vango · 01/06/2017 00:31

Why do you say I'm not looking for discussion? I genuinely am, and I don't think I've been rude to anyone tonight?

Cakeahoy · 01/06/2017 00:33

Stress, back pain, anxiety etc are not difficult to fake

Just taking a wild guess here.

You've never seen how a pip, DLA or esa assessment works have you?

Because people with cancer, no legs or arms, ms, Parkinson's, severe learning disabilities are being tirned down!

Is that hard to understand?

Genuine people with multiple letters from consultants can't get the bloody benefits, how the hell do you think Uncle George walks in with a dodgy back and stress and gets the lot?!

Dawndonnaagain · 01/06/2017 00:35

sit 1) If you think people get PiP for back pain and stress you very obviously have no idea how hard it is to claim. Whilst those things may indeed be easy to exaggerate, both GP and Consultant evidence is required.
2) It is a myth that any fraud reduces the pot for other claimants. The amount received is a fixed amount. If the 0.5% fraud drops to 0.2% or increases to 10% nothing changes for those claiming.
It is disablist to claim that many disabled people are faking it.
If there's an issue to be discussed, then perhaps it could be phrased more sensitively instead of tarring many disabled people with the benefit scrounging scum brush.

thesqueezedlemon · 01/06/2017 00:37

I hope you're right! They're all useless but she has to go.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 01/06/2017 00:37

Because you aren't going to hear from a Tory Voter, and I think it's fairly obvious why. Like brexiteers, any time any pop up, they get shouted down.

Here's the thing - voting for someone different does not make a person thick, evil, ignorant etc etc etc. I have friends who vote the opposite way to me - it doesn't make them or me bad pekple

JustAnotherPoster00 · 01/06/2017 00:37

Stress, back pain, anxiety etc are not difficult to fake

You have no clue about the assessment do you, I'll link to a website go and read it if youre not too small minded you probably are though right?, it has no political bias just facts

www.disabilitynewsservice.com/

Fucking educate yourself before more people die from being treated as worthless by the tory party or have assessors lie about the procedure just to deny people money they are entitled to

JustAnotherPoster00 · 01/06/2017 00:38
