He really could, the polls are looking good for labour.
TM might regret her decision to call this snap election.

His speech today, if it is as being said, will galvanise his 'supporters' but will not convinced swing voters.

To me this is all about his position after the GE.

He also has his Andrew Neil interview tonight. He certainly won't give him an easy ride, especially on this.

regardless of being the most useless opposition leader taking labour to the left

Labour are supposed to be left wing. I don't get this hatred of corbyn for being too far to the left. It's a left wing party.

bruffian · 26/05/2017 09:06

Yes, and you'd have to be heartless not to support the labour manifesto in principle.

But I don't believe they can deliver even a quarter of it.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 26/05/2017 09:08

yes Andrew Neil is certainly not going to overlook that information

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 26/05/2017 09:09

I should have put to the far left

you are right not just to the left

MoominFlaps · 26/05/2017 09:10

What's far left? Nothing I've seen from him is particularly radical IMO.

surferjet · 26/05/2017 09:14

Exactly - but people in this country don't really want a proper socialist party, they're too centre ground. But thankfully, Corbyn is attracting a new, younger, generation of voters who appreciate having a real opposition.
I think the man's a genius personally. He's quitely getting on with rebuilding the party to its former glory.

Corbyn would be a mainstream social democrat in many european countries.

I have my issues with him but he's really not that far left.

bruffian · 26/05/2017 09:16

Moomin, he may be hiding it for the sake of the election but the people around him are most definitely far left.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 26/05/2017 09:19

I have my issues with him but he's really not that far left.

His closest advisors such as Seamus Milne certainly are!

Georgieporgiepuddinandpie · 26/05/2017 09:19

I'll just leave this here

You know what, Corbyn could actually win this election.
Cheesecake53 · 26/05/2017 09:19

Dare I hope?!! :)

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 26/05/2017 09:21

He didn't 'help to bring peace' It's called rewriting history.

Nyx · 26/05/2017 09:36

What about the Tory MP who was an active member of the IRA? en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maria_Gatland

BelleTheSheepdog · 26/05/2017 09:48

The polling is looking far better for Labour.

Maybe it will be a coalition?

MoominFlaps · 26/05/2017 10:11

But what IS far left??

PsychedelicSheep · 26/05/2017 10:12

Ssshhh, don't jinx it! 😬

MyGastIsFlabbered · 26/05/2017 11:08

I daren't get my hopes up though.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 26/05/2017 11:27

coalition with who? The Socialist Labour Party and their few thousand votes. Corbyn won't go into a coalition with the LD's why would he want more central politics to have any influence he would rather be in opposition he has no interest in connecting with floating tory/ld/labour voters

the party has moved to the far left the only way labour will ever be on government is when it is left of centre because as a country we are tory who sometimes votes for a labour government but never a labour government who is too far to the left

with all the investment that Labour are proposing taxes would have to rise considerably to sustain their investment, to take industries out of private hands is a move to the far left of politics and our politics is different and has been for many years to central Europe we have stayed more central and that has also stopped fascist parties gaining seats in parliament something I am thankful for

And yes Corbyn's pr are certainly rewriting history this will not get passed experienced political journalist, it didn't before with Andrew Neil it certainly wont again especially as security issues and the importance of what these men and women actually do for us all are at the forefront of everyone's mind

Life long Labour who can't stand Jeremy BUT will probably vote Labour to prevent any chance of a spilt vote allowing the Tories in where I am.

There were quite a few saying they were going to do that but after today's speech will either not vote or will spoil their paper.

Aggieisback1 · 26/05/2017 19:16

Even if he does not win, he has won the campaign. If you factored the enormous media bias against him in, plus the fact that the UK just seems like such a backward looking Tory country at the moment it will be a total failure of the Tories if as looks likely Labour poll around 34 %.

Aggieisback1 · 26/05/2017 19:22

Enthusiasmisdisturbed you sound like the kind of person who accused Irish people of being IRA supporters on account of their nationality. Perhaps you'd like to say what you mean by Corbyn's links to the IRA as I'm unaware of any.
