' the way Trump has often responded to criticism by targeting ordinary people on twitter has led to death threats made against those critics from his supporters'

Media spin and lies.

Trump loves everyone, "China, I love China" is one of Trump's favourite phrases

Oh, that only shows how much of a hypocrite he is. Like when he said he loves babies and then told that mother he was kidding and sent her out of the rally.

He has blamed China for all the evils, from global warning hoax to the US trade deficit.
He basically told them to fuck off over Taiwan.

Are you kidding? Grin

Oh, and if I chose a few interesting words to call you, would you say that would be acceptable non-politically correct free speech OR unnecessarily insulting and a personal attack?
I think we all know what the answer is.

squishysquirmy · 15/12/2016 01:39

Is this good for free speech Claig?
A teenage girl asks: “So, maybe I’m wrong, maybe you can prove me wrong, but I don’t think you’re a friend to women”

The next day Trump tweets: “The arrogant young woman who questioned me in such a nasty fashion at No Labels yesterday was a Jeb staffer!”

His followers replied with screenshots of Batchelder and posted her phone number and other personal information online.
Rape and death threats followed.

And he tweeted similar responses to critics again, knowing full well how his supporters would react.

'Oh, and if I chose a few interesting words to call you, would you say that would be acceptable non-politically correct free speech OR unnecessarily insulting and a personal attack? '

I would not change my position, as I have always said it would be just more snide words. Nothing to do with political correctness, just rude and they are different.

Hamilton performers insulted Pence's daughters? Or even Pence?

Don't you get ashamed from blatantly lying like that?

"Thank you for joining us at Hamilton: An American Musical. We are the diverse America who are alarmed and anxious that your new administration will not protect us, our planet, our children, our parents, or defend us and uphold our inalienable rights. We hope this show has inspired you to uphold our American values, and work on behalf of ALL of us. Thank you."

How is any of this insulting to Pence, let alone his daughters.

Claig, at least have some dignity.

claig · 15/12/2016 01:42

'The next day Trump tweets: “The arrogant young woman who questioned me in such a nasty fashion at No Labels yesterday was a Jeb staffer!”'

She was a plant, a trick used by Jeb Bush and his "teams", the elites wanted it all over the media to make Trump look bad and he called her out as a Jeb Bush plant. The elites tried every trick they had to try and stop Trump, the BBC are still at it even though no one appears to have told them that Trump won.

OP posts:
claig · 15/12/2016 01:45

'And he tweeted similar responses to critics again, knowing full well how his supporters would react.'

He said she was a Jeb Bush plant. He is not responsible for supporters and knowing the tricks of the elites, the supporters who reacted hostile were probably also plants to make Trump look bad on the media so their "teams" could have a field day bashing Trump. That is how the "teams" roll.

OP posts:
squishysquirmy · 15/12/2016 01:47

She wasn't a plant, she was an 18 year old girl who had serious rape and death threats made against her in revenge for a very inoffensive question.
Is every member of the public who criticises Trump a plant?

claig · 15/12/2016 01:49

'How is any of this insulting to Pence, let alone his daughters. '

It humiliated Pence and his daughters who did not expect to be singled out at the end of a play they had attended when the entire audience were then focused on them as the cast implicitly insulted the next Vice President of the United States. Political grandstanding. But Pence was very gracious and said he didn't feel insulted or disrespected at all which made the public like him all teh more and made the "teams" hopping mad as they had been defeated once again.

claig · 15/12/2016 01:52

'Is every member of the public who criticises Trump a plant?'

She was a plant. You are reading one mainstream media article about her which doesn't tell the whole truth (unsurprisingly). Google more about her and you will see that she was a Jeb Bush plant.

'Is every member of the public who criticises Trump a plant?'

Of course not, but she was a plant and a Jeb Bush plant to boot. His "teams" laughed as they thought they had got Trump but it backfired on Jeb.

"When people moan about political correctness, it's usually because they want to be free to say racist things and relegate those nasty black, gay and disable people to their proper places, i.e. where they won't intrude on middle class white men's lives."

This is so wrong on so many levels not least the fabulous racist and sexist summary of "intrusion on middle class white mens lives."

Firstly political correctness attempts to stop me saying this. There are 2 genders, male and female. Thats it. The fact its true, is now irrelevant. Its un-PC and I should be berated and vilified for eternity for suggesting such a thing. So Ill say it again. There are 2 genders, male and female.

Anti-political correctness has never been about 'being free to be racist, homophobic, etc etc'. Never. (Though clearly its empowering the 'politically correct' liberals to be racist and sexist about white middle class men. Go figure)

Its about being free to say, Im pro life and I feel strongly about abortion. Or, Im catholic and I feel strongly about contraception. Or, Im muslim and I feel strongly about gay marriage. Thats freedom. Political correctness has shut down the rights to a belief system across all social spectrums, all political classes, all racial and religious groups. Deepans statement above, exposes exactly what political correctness actually is. Id have to assume that those middle class white men Deepan refers to are also straight? (The argument doesnt work otherwise).

"What happened was that someone said emails had been found. Wild accusations started flying and that the FBI was investigating HC again. THEN the emails were found to have nothing explosive, but by then the damage had been done."

This is so off the mark its laughable. Not sure how to respond, either I start linking here to particular emails (there are thousands ranging on topics from receiving millions from Saudi Arabia and other middle east regimes, funding from big pharma etc to creating fake craiglist ads, the plot to demolish Bernie Saunders, the drip feed to MSM (which was soooo racist at times its almost unbelievable....indeed if the top 4 officials at the DNC hadnt resigned you really would think it was Monty Python) But, in short, all the leaks were genuine. No one has denied any of the thousands of emails were fake. And yes, Hillary should indeed be charged.

Chris1234567890 · 15/12/2016 03:15

"Teresa Heinz is wealthy, but not involved in the running of the business. Rex Tillerson is CEO of Exxon.
The conflict of interest that can arise from Rex Tillerson's portfolio are not comparable with ketchup. Do you honestly think that the oil industry and the ketchup industry have equal impact on international relations, or was it just a nice meme?"

It was a great meme, for those hung up on 'millionaire' politics and spitting about Trump the 'corporate billionaire' Grin (You do know how much Hillary and Obama are worth?)

Youre missing Trumps genius though. IMO its quite simple. We all know that the oil industry has dictated foreign policy here in the UK and in the US for the last 20 years. All Trump has done, is instead of allowing that influence to carry on in huge (and we are talking huge) back room deals and government circles, hes put 'the man' in the job. Publicly. Hes now publicly accountable. Its a genius move.

Chris1234567890 · 15/12/2016 03:24

"If Trump is allowed to call women he doesn't like "fat pigs" and "disgusting animals", and talk about the women he does like as objects, then I am allowed to call Trump misogenist."

Hes said far worse about blokes.....but I think Claigs covered that point. If women want equality, then they have to accept being equally insulted.

Chris1234567890 · 15/12/2016 03:50

Hi Inkata Xmas Grin

What a lot of posts over 'merry christmas' including a 4 year old tweet to proove a point! Trying to keep up with current topics, but todays classic has to be the' Russians hacked Brexit'!!! ... Do these people not realise just how ridiculous theyre looking? Dear lordy, I cant help but keep repeating Claigs Trumpisms in my head, "we are ruled by very very stupid people". When Trump first said it, I just raised an eyebrow, but good grief, its becoming more obvious hes right as each day goes on!! You couldnt make all this up!

Have a good day y'all

Inkanta · 15/12/2016 04:02

Damn that Putin!

Part 5?! Fucks sake people! I'm sure you all have better things to do than argue on the internet. If you want to change the world join a political party or donate time/money to a cause or charity you care about. If you haven't resolved your differences after >4000 posts then it's not going to happen.

DeepanKrispanEven · 15/12/2016 07:37

Then why did Bernie Sanders say that it was the fact that Trump was not politically correct that made him win

Because Bernie Sanders isn't the fount of all knowledge?

Bear in mind that Trump massively lost the popular vote.

DeepanKrispanEven · 15/12/2016 07:44

claig, how interesting that you are sensitive about Trump's misogyny and racism. Could it be that you see a benefit in political correctness after all?

Does it occur to you that that 18 year old girl genuinely wanted to know the answer to her questions and genuinely (and for obvious reasons) felt Trump was not a friend to women? And that, even if she was a plant, she did not deserve to be deliberately put by a very powerful man into a position where he knew very well she would attract death and rape threats? What an utterly despicable thing to do.

DeepanKrispanEven · 15/12/2016 07:47

Its about being free to say, Im pro life and I feel strongly about abortion. Or, Im catholic and I feel strongly about contraception. Or, Im muslim and I feel strongly about gay marriage. Thats freedom. Political correctness has shut down the rights to a belief system across all social spectrums, all political classes, all racial and religious groups

You see, that statement disproves itself, doesn't it? Manifestly, Chris, you are free to say all those things: this is a public forum and you haven't been deleted. People regularly say all those things in public and no-one stops them. So political correctness hasn't shut any of that down.

Again, it's noticeable that you aren't demanding the right to use the N word or the P word, or to say that members of any given race, gender, age or disability are inferior. So perhaps you espouse PC yourself.

Lweji · 15/12/2016 07:48

Ah, Chris.

It would be nice if indeed non-political correctness was used in the nice sense that you meant. Unfortunately, it IS used by many, including Trump, to throw away insults and to justify things like bragging about sexual assault.

Then, although previous Hillary's emails did have some hotter stuff, most of it was hugely inflated by Trump's side.
Anyway, the bit you quoted was taken out of context and it referred to the last week of campaign and to what the FBI head did. That was the bit that nailed Hilary's coffin, and was also used to explain why the FBI might not have agreed with the CIA assessment.

Finally, I'm astounded that you think it's a genius move to put oil people in charge of foreign policy. Because we know they'll serve the oil industry? WTAF?
What was Trump all about, then? Where is the swamp draining? Where is the interest of the people? It's sounds more like he's openly for big business interests and corporate. You know, the elites and establishment that had supposedly been manipulating politics.

It's clear they still are. Worse of all, with the clear and open approval of the President.
It's like putting the fox in charge of the hens.
Don't complain when there are no hens left.

Lweji · 15/12/2016 07:53

Also, Chris, it seems to me that there are indeed very stupid people around. Some of them calling themselves clever. Others ignoring purposefully that what their candidate said is bollocks and that he's guilty of things that he now complains about. And that his complaints are, well, bollocks.

Lweji · 15/12/2016 07:55

Or, Im catholic and I feel strongly about contraception

Said very few catholics. :)
Except some sects and priests.

Lweji · 15/12/2016 08:24

Trevor Noah on Rex:

Pointing out that huge deal with Russia on oil, that didn't go ahead because of the sanctions after that invasion that Trump never knew about.

I can definitely spot a plant.
