There's no point in scoffing about the serious criminality of the Mexican gangs. They are a definite presence in TX and CA. There are other nationa,ity drug and sex traffickers, of course, but in that neck of the woods (CA, AZ, NM and TX) they are the main problem. What's the point of your sarcasm, when people are being killed and mutiliated by them?

A wall is feasible, I suppose, because that south-western tip of the USA is narrow. The Mexican smugglers could access USA via the Gulf of Mexico, but USA has good coastguard patrol.

This is an extremely interesting contrast to the "left behind" narrative. So the problem to which Trump is (apparently) the solution is not rising inequality leaving the working classes poor and underemployed, but quite the opposite: "everyone gets a trophy". So in fact you're hoping for greater inequality?

South, the border is already protected and everyone knows many immigrants, including gang members don't cross the land border.
They can use planes and boats and even tunnels.
The wall is just a symbol. It won't have a practical effect, apart from being a huge expense.

Not enough border patrol. The men & women that are brought into USA by Mexican gangs for slave work are transported by vehicle and dropped off close to the border, and then walked across at various points where patrol has not yet visited or is known to be lax.
