You're not Trump

;)

squishysquirmy · 15/12/2016 15:23

I'm a western feminist. I care. But no, I am not about to head into the Middle East to tell them how to be better feminists. That in no way proves that sexism doesn't exist in the UK, so whats your point?

squishysquirmy · 15/12/2016 15:24

"Western middle class women have never had life so good."
Yes. That's why I don't want to see the clock turned back. Xmas Smile

Missswatch · 15/12/2016 15:25

I never said sexism doesn't exist in the UK. As i said earlier there is a difference between your idiot boss making a pervy remark and what goes on in the middle east

Lweji · 15/12/2016 15:26

But western feminists don't care. If they went to the middle east and started shouting patriarchy and sexism what do you think would happen? We know the answer and it's too graphic to write here

Yes, they do care. But, we often have to fight the battles at our doorstep.

I have just posted about feminists visiting Saudi Arabia and standing up for the western dress code.

I'm afraid that Saudi Women will also need to fight their own battles, even if supported by other women and international agencies. Nobody can go in and shout sexism if there is no support for it from the women there.

And it's not necessarily desirable or desired that Western feminists act on Saudi Arabia.

Women in Saudi Arabia are best placed to fight for what they need in their own way.

Missswatch · 15/12/2016 15:26

Yes. That's why I don't want to see the clock turned back

It won't be. What makes you think otherwise?

squishysquirmy · 15/12/2016 15:27

But my comment had nothing to do with the Middle East. It was in response to your claim that:
"I doubt most sheltered middle class females have seen racism, sexism and homophobia"

Lweji · 15/12/2016 15:27

As i said earlier there is a difference between your idiot boss making a pervy remark and what goes on in the middle east

And?
It still doesn't make it ok for him to make the pervy remark. It still makes life difficult for women in the UK, or the west.

Well... Trump.

squishysquirmy · 15/12/2016 15:29

We have gone over why at length, Missswatch.

Missswatch · 15/12/2016 15:31

So Trump being elected will make women in the UK second class citizens? Here's hoping our female PM will have something to say about that

squishysquirmy · 15/12/2016 15:32

Exactly Dixie. I fear that a lot of the actual issues here are being smothered by nonsense, straw man arguments and derailments. The majority of his cabinet appointments are unqualified at best.

Lweji · 15/12/2016 15:34

So Trump being elected will make women in the UK second class citizens?
Who said that? It was in relation to middle class women.
And Trump is obviously in relation to middle class women in the US.
Don't be so obtuse.

claig · 15/12/2016 15:38

DixieWishbone, you are right about the Ben Carson appointment, but just because he is not a member of the "political class" doesn't mean he can't get good things done. The great man, Trump himself, has zero political experience and yet will be President of the United States, kicking ass and taking names.

Some of our own political class are not qualified to do what they do but still struggle to do it while juggling the task of filling expense forms in. "It is wot it is", that is how the cookie crumbles and why our economy crumbled under Gordon Brown, known as the Great Leader by the Guardian top echelon.

'Make no mistake, these appointees are not about improving the performance of these federal programs, they are all about making them go away entirely.'

Absolutely. Huge cuts in bureacucracy are on the way. This is Drain The Swamp and Trump is going to do it as he slashes red tape and regulation and gets the economy motoring.

'I fear that a lot of the actual issues here are being smothered by nonsense, straw man arguments and derailments.'

Then please stop doing it.

The world we live in closely connected, Missswatch.

Plenty for women to be worried about there, as they drag UK politics to the regressive right.

squishysquirmy · 15/12/2016 15:42

"taking names" - what does this mean?

Lweji · 15/12/2016 15:43

Funnily enough, Carson said he didn't feel qualified for a role in Health...
Surgeon Carson. But he is for housing. It makes sense.

DeepanKrispanEven · 15/12/2016 15:45

"Prior to and during his campaign for president, Trump blamed autism on vaccines, saying that as president he would try to stop children from receiving “massive shots” that he thinks lead to autism."

That's seriously worrying. If he's going to stop vaccination programmes, we are going to see child deaths and disability as a direct result. Does anyone support that, apart from mad anti-vaxxers?

Or are we going to have claig claiming he was "only joking" yet again?

claig · 15/12/2016 15:46

"Boom! Trump rally carries stocks to new records"

money.cnn.com/2016/11/21/investing/dow-jones-stocks-record-high-trump/

Trump is a biznessman, he means bizness. The economy will boom and Trump will be "the greatest job creator in US history" as he ends the wars and concentrates on business, trade and jobs. But there will be a draining of the swamp and the EPA will feel teh brunt of it as energy policy is unleashed and America is turned on for business. Trump met the "tech titans" yesterday and told them to call him and his team anytime because there is no hierarchy in Trump's team.

Sarah Palin said "drill, baby, drill" and the tap of prsoperity is going to be turned open wide. That is why the world elite are so frightened of Trump. It is game over for their austerity plans. Stock markets are booming, roses are blooming, elites are fuming.

Roses are blooming? Where?

claig · 15/12/2016 15:49

'Or are we going to have claig claiming he was "only joking" yet again?'

I don't think Trump is joking about vaccines and autism, but whether he will carry it through we don't yet know.

Clearly the fears are that they will be ousted from their jobs.
