my post earlier didn't post. Air strikes are going so well in Aleppo aren't they?

Missswatch · 07/12/2016 15:13

Collateral damage is a part of war. Drones, soldiers, tanks. Doesn't matter it will happen. Yes it is awful but so is war in general

Missswatch · 07/12/2016 15:32

Trump just won Time magazines person of the year. We're not tired of winning

Kaija · 07/12/2016 15:35

Just like Hitler in 1938. I wonder what comes next.

BertrandRussell · 07/12/2016 15:56

So where is this engagement with ISIS going to take place?

Lweji · 07/12/2016 16:41

So, why want to get into one? It sounds... hawkish.

I thought he'd leave the fighting against ISIS to his friend Putin.
And all Trump had to do was close the borders to Muslims.

Ontopofthesunset · 07/12/2016 16:55

Misswatch, Time hasn't endorsed him. Did you read what they said? "For reminding America that demagoguery feeds on despair ..." Who do you think they are accusing of demagoguery?

"TIME's Person of the Year is not and never has been an honour. It is not an endorsement," (Time) wrote in an editorial explaining the decision that year (the year Putin won.)

"It is not a popularity contest. At its best, it is a clear-eyed recognition of the world as it is and of the most powerful individuals and forces shaping that world - for better or for worse."

For better or for worse.

BertrandRussell · 07/12/2016 17:04

Trump himself understands that the Time cover is not an endorsement- and has tweeted very dismissively about the magazine. At least he understands.........

BertrandRussell · 07/12/2016 17:06

"Trump just won Time magazines person of the year. We're not tired of winning"

Grin

I suggest you read the magazine before saying this in public again.......

OhYouBadBadKitten · 07/12/2016 17:33

Missswatch, you are absolutely unreal. May as well chuck a nuclear bomb in there. Will get rid of ISIS, never mind about the collateral damage.

Before the Trump fans cheer

"
TIME editor Nancy Gibbs writes that Trump is Person of the Year for “reminding America that demagoguery feeds on despair and that truth is only as powerful as the trust in those who speak it,” for “empowering a hidden electorate by mainstreaming its furies and live-streaming its fears” and for “framing tomorrow’s political culture by demolishing yesterday’s.”

Reminder of what a demagogue is: a political leader who seeks support by appealing to popular desires and prejudices rather than by using rational argument.

Note. This is not a good thing to be.

He can join Hitler, Stalin and Putin as Time person of the Year.

WouldHave · 07/12/2016 18:06

Trump just won Time magazines person of the year. We're not tired of winning

Thanks for giving us all a massive laugh, Missswatch.

Lweji · 07/12/2016 18:52

Trump also wins as the most prolific liar.

Not the best, though, as his lies were (are) so obvious and outrageous that are pathetic, really.

Oh, no, in fact the future Secretary of Department of Housing and Urban Development may be worse.

And while I'm on it, it turns out that not only he is nowhere near qualified to run that department, in terms of career or actual qualifications, but claims that he lived in public housing (as if that made anyone qualified for such job) are also not true.
www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/onpolitics/2016/12/06/secretary-housing-urban-development-nominee-ben-carson-public-housing/95070156/

""His medical career has given him an extreme foundation," [Armstrong] Williams said. "And also he's never been disconnected from these inner cities and these people who live these lives.""

Gov. Mike Huckabee ✔ @GovMikeHuckabee
"Ben Carson is first HUD Sec to have actually lived in gov't housing. Fancy Nancy Pelosi says he's not qualified; is she racist or just dumb?"

Someone is clearly dumb, I'd say...

Trump (Part 4)
Lweji · 07/12/2016 19:23

Oh, and did I ask earlier about the Carrier deal details?

Well...

“Just a short few months ago, Trump was pledging to force United Technologies to 'pay a damn tax.' He was insisting on very steep tariffs for companies like Carrier that left the United States and wanted to sell their foreign-made products back in the United States. Instead of a damn tax, the company will be rewarded with a damn tax cut. Wow!” Sanders continued.

"Carrier agreed to a deal of $7 million in state incentives over a 10-year-period, according to a Trump transition official who spoke on the condition of anonymity to be able to speak freely."

www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/onpolitics/2016/12/01/sanders-says-carrier-deal-sets-dangerous-precedent/94725614/

ah, always the devil in the details.

BertrandRussell · 07/12/2016 19:34

Ben Carson does not believe in evolution.

InformalRoman · 07/12/2016 20:42

I've met palaeontologists that do t believe in evolution Confused

squishysquirmy · 07/12/2016 22:40

It wasn't even 1000 jobs. That was another lie:

www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2016/12/06/he-got-up-there-and-lied-his-a-off-carrier-union-leader-on-trumps-big-deal/?utm_term=.c946dffcb3dc

He lies and he lies and he lies.....

squishysquirmy · 07/12/2016 22:53

Informal: Really? That's interesting. What do they believe - is it another theory that (to someone fairly uninformed like myself) looks quite similar to evolution, or is it something really different, or a religious belief? I have met a couple of people before who don't believe in evolution due to religious faith, but none of them were paleontologists! They all believed in adaptation though - which is very hard to deny because you can almost see it happen in some life-forms - but not evolution.

Great day in Trumpland. Trump wins Michigan (again), Obama under huge pressure from the Democrats to release evidence of Russia hacking and interfering with election (hahahahahhaha, hes so sweating right now), the CEO of US Steel announces intention to return 10,000 jobs to the US thanks to Trump.
Oh and Pam Anderson popped in to check on Assange with some of his favourite foods. A good day indeed
www.reuters.com/article/us-u-s-steel-jobs-idUSKBN13W2SI

Carry on guys, just thought you needed a reality check.

Chris1234567890 · 08/12/2016 04:25

Just been brought to my attention, an article I posted back on the thread from the Washington Post about evidence from 'experts' of Russian propaganda sites, has indeed been exposed as a fake story. (We did rip it apart at the time but you know how trusting some posters here can be of MSM) Anyway, heres Washington Posts updated article......with editorial distancing itself from the legitimacy of what it printed.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/economy/russian-propaganda-effort-helped-spread-fake-news-during-election-experts-say/2016/11/24/793903b6-8a40-4ca9-b712-716af66098festory.html?utmm_term=.e675c749e80b

CNN have also had to issue a retraction this week after creating and circulating a fake story.

Theyre falling like flies, how soon before the BBC, The Guardian and all, follow suit or will they just carry on regardless and stick a small print caveat on all articles?

MSM is dead in its own filthy water.

InformalRoman · 08/12/2016 06:51

squishy they believe in a young earth, everything created by God 6000 years ago, all early life wiped out by Noah's flood and all rock strata (with fossils) being laid down afterwards. Adaptation is Gods work. Continental drift was caused by the cataclysm that caused the flood. So religious belief but explaining what you can observe.

Looks like Trump has appointed a lawyer and climate change denier as head of the EPA - Scott Pruitt. So no conflict of interest there, what with being AG of Oklahoma an' all.

fourmummy · 08/12/2016 07:38

MSM is dead in its own filthy water

Yep, and has been for a while (ever since Bliar, really). People are now just having fun with it (I was loving Claig's descriptions of Snow. Come back, Claig!). Godfrey Elfwick, troll of trolls, even managed to get the Guardian to print this. MSM spinning in circles, chasing their own tails:

Been busy ordering a new compooter. All sorted. Being assembled in China right now. Globalisation. Marvellous stuff.

Very good news in the papers this morning

"Climate change sceptic Scott Pruitt to lead Environmental Protection Agency

Donald Trump’s latest cabinet pick is a clear signal of Republicans’ desire to dismantle Obama’s climate legacy"

www.theguardian.com/us-news/2016/dec/07/trump-scott-pruitt-environmental-protection-agency

So he's going to destroy the planet to help out his elite business friends. Whoopy-doo. You may not care, claig, but your descendants certainly will.

claig · 08/12/2016 08:10

The revolution continues.

And Boris Johnson accused the Saudis of being a "puppeteer" in the Middle East and Syria and of playing "proxy war games".

It looks like Trump's election has caused an outbreak of truth across the world as puppets everywhere panic that the truth about manmade climate change and the war in Syria etc may all come out if Trump feels like letting the whole world know.
