Into the final lap now after over 1 year of entertainment, education and excitement. Donald J Trump is nearly there against all expectations.

It does get better...

Hearing American academics and wonks almost blaming the UK for giving Trump the blueprint with Brexit.

It's rubbish in many ways but still a nice, "We did that!" feeling.

AlchemySchmidtsSmile · 09/11/2016 04:19

^ phrased badly (am knackered) but ykwim.

claig · 09/11/2016 04:23

'Scottish independence/Brexit/President Trump cannot be deemed as "power to the people"'

I think it can, because power to the people means power from the elites. And you have to ask whose side were the elite on in all of those cases (apart from the Scottish Referendum).

All of those stupid politicians who thought they were high and mighty and wanted to ban Trump and insulted Trump and said like Francois Hollande "he makes you want to retch" are now in panic as they work out how to grovel and ingratate themselves with the people's President - Donald J Trump.

It is not finally announced, but it is looking good.

Just because you can vote for sticking two fingers up at the political sysyem doesn't mean you should.

AlchemySchmidtsSmile · 09/11/2016 04:27

The People's President. Yes, if it was a landslide.
Otherwise it's a bit like Ed Balls winning Strictly Wink

fourmummy · 09/11/2016 04:29

Just because you can vote for sticking two fingers up at the political sysyem doesn't mean you should.

You absolutely should vote for sticking the two fingers up if the system is not doing what it's meant to do toxic - to use a zeitgeisty word

claig · 09/11/2016 04:30

Everything is rigged. The polls, the media, the spinners, the insiders

They all sneered at the people and the people held a silent revolution.

As the Stump for Trump Sisters always say

"The silent majority has spoken, baby"

He's taken Wisconsin. All over folks :D

fourmummy · 09/11/2016 04:34

It'll help with Brexit (hopefully) because it'll stop the whole MilliEd thing of hopping over the pond to work for the Clinton Foundation and back again to spin why the people didn't really vote to leave the common market, no, not at all.

fourmummy · 09/11/2016 04:35

Got to sign off now. See you all tomorrow. Amazing times.

Spinflight · 09/11/2016 04:35

People are crying at the Democratic party...

Even bastard Fox News won't show the pictures though.

Not fair.

claig · 09/11/2016 04:40

'It'll help with Brexit'

Absolutely. The rug has been pulled out from under the entire world's crooked elites. All teh high and mighty have been brought low. Our country will change too now because Trump won't suffer fools.

See you tomorrow, fourmummy

Claig, I know you're a good sort, and I'm not here for a fight, but I must take exception to you appropriating my town's motto in support of this misogynistic, racist, inconsistent, aggressive, and apparently not-very-bright demagogue. He is the antithesis of what we value and believe in here.

I attended a group last night, who meet in the very room in which Tom Paine developed his theories expounded in the Rights Of Man and debated with the Headstrong Club. Everyone there agreed he would be spinning in his grave at the prospect of a Trump presidency.

And please don't tell me I've been brainwashed by the BBC, Oxbridge, Elites etc... I am capable of independent thought, and it's insulting to those who disagree with you to write them off as gullible and ill informed.

In the words of another great man, "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it ... ". So please pay me and others the same courtesy.

Now you go and enjoy your celebration Smile

claig · 09/11/2016 04:51

Social media beat the mainstream media. The elites have lost their monopoly, their spinners are no longer believed by the people.

BBC studios have an air of gloom. Faces astounded, voices breaking, tears in eyes.

Claig won't be druv. :D

AntideluvianCat · 09/11/2016 04:54

I know she won't, and good for her.

Glad you like the expression. It's a good 'un. But it's OURS, not Trump's Grin

claig · 09/11/2016 04:57

'I must take exception to you appropriating my town's motto in support of this misogynistic, racist, inconsistent, aggressive, and apparently not-very-bright demagogue. He is the antithesis of what we value and believe in here. '

But that motto does not belong to you, it belongs to the people and even to the people of the rest of England and even of the world

"Sussex wil not be druv"

explains why the Trumpsters won. It is exactly the same spirit. All of our political class were against Trump and it is the political class, who are merely servants of the elite, who do the druvving.

So "Sussex will not be druv" is the exact same spirit as the Trumpsters had. As Trump always says "not gonna happen any more", which is "Sussex will not be druv".

Can you imagine Hillarys face! I wouldn't want to anywhere near her right now.

Comey left the email investigation open, she's not been charged yet so Obama can't pardon her?

BTW flowersandsunshine I've been on these boards for 10 years Smile

claig · 09/11/2016 05:01

"But it's OURS, not Trump's"

No, it is the whole world's. For everyone apart from the crooked elites.

Thomas Paine wrote the 'Rights of Man' which are universal.
He also wrote a pamphlet called "Common Sense". He sounds like a Trumpster.

Andrew Neil on the BBC (I have switched back to it to watch their faces) says

"I can not remember any other election night like it"

Brexit night was pretty awesome too claig Wink

AntideluvianCat · 09/11/2016 05:07

Yes, you're right, it belongs to the people. But as someone else pointed out, the people are everyone, not just the ones that agree with you.

Some of The People blew up four effigies of him for good, heartfelt reason.

So let's agree to disagree Smile
