Premiums are going through the roof 68%, 71%

You mean, a small number of premiums have had those increases.

Most premiums have only had small increases.

And many more people now have health insurance than before.

(I had fact checked this earlier after the debate)

claig · 12/10/2016 10:24

'Why waste so much time posting this fiction?'

Because it is funny. It is a laugh because the people are going to win. You might as well ask why tens of thousands queue for hours to listen to Trump speak at a rally when only hundreds of campaign officials and senior Establishmentarians turn up for a scripted Hillary event. It is because it is a laugh, the people are happy because they know that Trump has said "Hell No!" and the "corrupt global establishment" is about to go.

Claig - please enlighten me on how you think Trump will win given electoral college math.

See 538 podcast for latest polls and data.

they have correctly predicted the last 2 election results.

A Trump rally is a laugh, the election is a laugh. People are dancing in the streets, congas stretch for miles outside a Trump rally before the show starts because Trump is going to beat the crooked "corrupt global establishment" and all their "vessels".

Kaija · 12/10/2016 10:31

"Not even you believe this to be true, Claig. Why waste so much time posting this fiction?"

Well, quite. But future students of political science will find claig's body of work on mumsnet an invaluable resource when looking at early social media propaganda techniques, so it's not all bad.

ZuleikaDobson · 12/10/2016 10:31

OK, claig, take it from us that nonsense such as that isn't a laugh, and save your time.

I seem to remember someone in the 1930s who could get thousands of people shouting for him at rallies. That went well.

Boosiehs · 12/10/2016 10:32

How claig? How is he going to do that?

claig · 12/10/2016 10:34

'Claig - please enlighten me on how you think Trump will win given electoral college math.'

Because as Scott Adams, Dilbert creator, says on twitter #Landslide #Trump. A landslide is cominn, the huge rallies of ordinary people for Trump versus the small congregations of party apparatchiks, insiders and vessels for Hillary show that. Trump only needs Florida, North Carolina and Pennsylvania and he will probably then make it.

The entire media has been activated by the "corrupt global establishment" but they can't hire enough spinners to beat the people.

ZuleikaDobson · 12/10/2016 10:37

Trump: "People’s — I don’t know if you have been watching lately over the last couple of weeks — people’s premiums, George, are going up 35, 45, 55 percent."

Fact: on average, premiums have risen by about 5.8% a year since Obama took office, compared to 13.2% in the previous nine years. In 2016, the cost of a benchmark silver plan will be 4.4 percent more expensive on average across major cities in 13 states and Washington, D.C. Minneapolis will see the biggest premium increase at 28.7%, but plans will decrease by 10.4% in Seattle.

Oh, those pesky facts, they're so inconvenient, aren't they?

Kaija · 12/10/2016 10:41

Propaganda technique number one: Repetition.

How many times does the phrase "corrupt global establishment" appear on this thread?

claig · 12/10/2016 10:46

'How many times does the phrase "corrupt global establishment" appear on this thread?'

I haven't counted. Is it the same as the number of times that Hillary has been mentioned?

OP posts:
Kaija · 12/10/2016 10:51

I haven't counted either, but looks like at least once in each of your posts. Textbook stuff. Keep up the good work.

Boosiehs · 12/10/2016 11:01

Hmm.... and I should believe "Because as Scott Adams, Dilbert creator, " over established political researchers, why?

claig · 12/10/2016 11:03

'I should believe "Because as Scott Adams, Dilbert creator, " over established political researchers, why?'

Because Scott Adms is independent, not "bought and paid for", not as Trump said "a small cog in a corporate political machine" of the "corrupt global establishment that is raiding our country".

OP posts:
Roussette · 12/10/2016 11:07

I haven't counted. Is it the same as the number of times that Hillary has been mentioned?

As this a thread with a heading "Trump vs Clinton", its hardly surprising is it???

Lweji · 12/10/2016 11:11

'How many times does the phrase "corrupt global establishment" appear on this thread?'

I haven't counted. Is it the same as the number of times that Hillary has been mentioned?

But second technique. Diversion.

claig · 12/10/2016 11:22

It's not a diversion because it is a quasi synonym

OP posts:
Boosiehs · 12/10/2016 11:22

So is 538. Scott Adams is just a commentator.

You have no more reason to believe Scot Adams than me.

You sound like the nutters (Gove et al) claiming that people are sick of experts, as it having an education and a field of study and expertise is some how a bad thing.

This crazy notion that if you believe something it makes it as much of a fact as an ACTUAL fact is just bizarre. See Newt Gingridge and the Obama muslim nonsense.

Kaija · 12/10/2016 11:32

"It's not a diversion because it is a quasi synonym"

You are spoiling us now.

Kaija · 12/10/2016 11:39

"You sound like the nutters (Gove et al) claiming that people are sick of experts, as it having an education and a field of study and expertise is some how a bad thing."

It's exactly the same. Convince people that there are no facts, no truth, no experts and that everyone's opinions are equally valid on any topic, and you can get people to believe anything you want them to, by playing on their fear with endlessly repeated slogans, demonising your opponents and promising a return to Eden.

Now we know Hillary's finished Grin

Kaija · 12/10/2016 11:42

“The guy says stuff nobody would find tolerable if they were applying for a job at 7-Eleven,” he added.

Quite.

Roussette · 12/10/2016 11:44

Yet if you've been to Oxbridge (mentioned in derogatory terms countless times by Claig) you are the enemy and should be ignored.

Southallgirl · 12/10/2016 11:56

Despite figures given above by a poster re Obamacare, I think there must be something in the criticisms about it not being affordable for many Americans. I have heard about 4 Americans on the radio (3 non-Republicans) who have stated that the very people this plan was aimed at cannot afford it.
