Not a racist.

"In 1991, a book by John O’Donnell, who had been president of the Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, quoted Trump as criticizing a black accountant and saying: “Black guys counting my money! I hate it. The only kind of people I want counting my money are short guys that wear yarmulkes every day. … I think that the guy is lazy. And it’s probably not his fault, because laziness is a trait in blacks. It really is, I believe that. It’s not anything they can control.” O’Donnell wrote that for months afterward, Trump pressed him to fire the black accountant, until the man resigned of his own accord.

Trump eventually denied making those comments. But in 1997 in a Playboy interview, he conceded “the stuff O’Donnell wrote about me is probably true.”

Trump on Epstein

"I've known Jeff for fifteen years. Terrific guy,'' Trump once said about the convicted sex offender. "He's a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side. No doubt about it -- Jeffrey enjoys his social life."

It's chilling.

NightWanderer · 12/10/2016 04:27

There is so much dirt coming out about both Donald Trump and Bill Clinton. But Hilary isn't Bill Clinton. I'm also not aware of the Clintons being racist. The whole thing is a sordid mess though.

WinchesterWoman · 12/10/2016 06:24

Morning claig: can't link on my phone but look at Glenn greenwalds latest piece - realclearpolitics the intercept

merrymouse · 12/10/2016 06:49

They're nothing that a brisk rebuke, a swift knee to the nuts or appeal to legal recourse won't solve.

Actually, rape and sexual abuse aren't dealt with so easily.

Hilary may not be a good candidate, but she is a candidate who listens to advice and reads the briefing papers. There is no indication that Trump would do anything so boring. Domestically that is an American problem, but internationally, who would be in charge? He really doesn't appear to know more about the world than any other reality TV star.

fourmummy · 12/10/2016 07:11

Actually, rape and sexual abuse aren't dealt with so easily.

They can be if we remove the cultural support for rape and stop perpetuating a rape supportive culture. My suggestions are a good start because they sever the link between normalised perceptions of masculinity and femininity. Once dealt with, we can then move on to other important matters like global wars, pan-global trade agreements, unemployment. The focus on Trump the sleaze obfuscates other important issues and actually continues to perpetuate our rape supportive culture.

Lweji · 12/10/2016 07:19

Domestically that is an American problem, but internationally, who would be in charge?

Domestically, he'd be put in check by the democratic process. Any president has two legislative bodies to get through and must have them on board or face great difficulties.

Internationally, just by opening his mouth, he can seriously damage relationships with the US and every other country.

And whereas a hawk Hillary is criticised, Trump veers between hawk and dove (more like don't care) depending on whether a country has oil or not.

merrymouse · 12/10/2016 07:20

Once dealt with, we can then move on to other important matters like global wars, pan-global trade agreements, unemployment.

And what would make anybody think that Trump knows anything about these issues?

Kaija · 12/10/2016 07:42

Hard to imagine a greater boost for "rape supportive culture" than electing Trump after all he's said.

Kaija · 12/10/2016 07:47

And if just men were voting:

Trump vs Clinton Round 2. Bigger debate than the last one.
fourmummy · 12/10/2016 07:51

And what would make anybody think that Trump knows anything about these issues?

Nobody knows anything about what he, Hillary or anyone else will do. She's talking open borders and global trade agreements and we all know about her role in international wars but she may not continue in this way if she becomes POTUS. We only have what they say (which means nothing), what they've done (which means something; as WW said above, her warmongering scares people far more than Trump ever could) and our gut feelings (which can be a good proxy for sensible decision making and should not be dismissed out of hand).

On the subject of sexual violence - there's nothing 'mythical' about it. Men do it because they can. The reason why they can is because they are socialised to be stronger and more violent than women. Women are socialised to accept this, and it, as normal. It really is as simple as that. If we teach girls not to be shy, retiring and accepting of aggression, and if we teach boys not to be violent, we can eradicate rape. It is, of course, a status quo that men are unwilling to change because it would mean losing some privileges. It is also what feminists have been demanding for years. If Trump men knew that he'd get hurt (physically, financially, domestically, personally) if he overstepped his masculinity, he would not do it a second time. This is what we mean by a rape supportive culture. He they can do it again and again because there are no real sanctions. But...Things are changing. Girls are less accepting of this type of behaviour than ever before (thanks to feminism). It's important - but there are other things as well. Now, let's move on to discussing Hillary's wars, pan-global trade agreements, unemployment, open borders and uncontrolled immigration.

Roussette · 12/10/2016 07:52

It seems like you only engage with claig and anything she links winchesterwoman. .. I suppose it's because she's the only poster on here who remotely agrees with you.

I agree merrymouse ... Trump appears incapable of listening to anyone else but his family. That is very worrying when it comes to foreign policy, although apparently his son in law advises him on that.

His family members who have no political experience are responsible for strategy, drafting speeches, and are the ones present at all campaign meetings.

Lweji · 12/10/2016 07:58

fourmummy

Hillary is NOT talking open borders.

Her supposed warmongering doesn't scare people more than Trump. Trump's volatility and macho stances scare people.

merrymouse · 12/10/2016 08:05

Nobody knows anything about what he, Hillary or anyone else will do.

But Trump doesn't appear to know anything. When he talks about Syria or ISIS he sounds less well informed than your average taxi driver. He can't follow a train of thought to the end of a sentence and he sounds as though he speaks English as a second language.

You might as well grab somebody off the street and ask them to be president.

merrymouse · 12/10/2016 08:12

On the assumption that most people have more self control than Trump, you might be better grabbing somebody off the street and asking them to be president.

Roussette · 12/10/2016 08:16

here is Trump and his foreign policy. He doesn't even begin to try and understand, it's just rhetoric and nonsense. I could do better.

His key aim is not letting anyone know when you are going to bomb. Don't forewarn them. That's the crux of Trump's foreign policy, he's said it many times.

"We have announcements out of Washington and Iraq. We will be attacking. Why can't they do it quietly and do the attack and make it a sneak attack and after the attack is made inform the American public that we have knocked out the leaders and have a tremendous success. People leave. Why do they have to say we are going to be attacking Mosul in four to six weeks. How stupid is our country?”

Very presidential, not.

Roussette · 12/10/2016 08:18

Oh and that quote is what he said at the last debate.

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 12/10/2016 08:26

I understand this shake up the establishment bit that we keep hearing

But honestly is a man who cant string a sentance together, is so tactless that he could start a nuclear war in an empty room, sounds as thick
as a brick and has no coherent policy on anything suitable to be president

Actually forget i asked that question, the answer is no

And i dont want to see the world go down in flames just for shits and giggles...do not give a stuff for america, if they vote him in they get what they deserve (and as has been said he probably wont be able to do much damage)

I did really enjoy the american apprentice though, that is probably how he will run his presidency. Which is fucking scary Grin

Southallgirl · 12/10/2016 08:36

Going back to Chakrabarti. Have you noticed ....she's used the same excuse that Corbyn did. She said it was her husband who wanted their son to go to public school, and Corbyn of course said it was his wife and that that was the reason he divorced her.

merrymouse · 12/10/2016 08:37

"I did really enjoy the american apprentice though, that is probably how he will run his presidency."

Except the American Apprentice is a TV show. Trump had to deliver a performance that they could cut together to tell a story, but he no more had to run things than the cast of TOWIE.
