Excited about the Labour leadership announcement

For full disclosure I'm a Jeremy Corbyn supporter. I'm quite excited and hopeful that he's won again. Anyone else feeling it?!

Of course he's won so, no, not excited at all about it.

That aside - how come it takes so long between the vote & the announcement? We have election results overnight, surely it doesn't take that long to count a couple of hundred thousand votes

Nope! Absolutely dreading it! I think Corbyn will win & I think it will mean the end of the Labour Party as we know it or a good decade in Opposition!

No I'm not excited at all. I'm despairing because I reckon Jezza will have Won again due to the deluded true believers and as a direct result in 2020 the Labour Party will be wiped out in electoral terms. Ho hum.

If you want to celebrate the decade long death knell for non Tory government then yeah, it'll be really exciting watching his inevitable leadership victory.

I'm excited and a Corbyn supporter. He's one of the few politicians left with some integrity, I really don't understand why so many people are against him!

I think they are both deeply unappealing . I was a Lib Dem, could easily have seen myself as a Labour voter, but not with Corbyn as leader. No idea where where to place my non-Tory support...

I'm a floating voter who is bloody depressed by the whole thing. At this time - more than any other in my adult life I think - we need a strong opposition. And Labour seem unprepared or incapable to provide it.

Those who feel sad and despairing and are party members, what are you going to do? I read rob Francis and Owen Jones and cannot be as optimistic as either of them suggest (and they have quite different politics). I realise the party needs me (and everyone) but I cannot get behind Corbyn (his principles and the company he keeps, as well as his incompetence). I feel dishonest.

Integrity??? The only passion that man has shown has been about his own career!

I'm excited; think he'll win; and think all the "Labour is finished under Corbyn" gang are going to get the shock of their lives when he leads them to victory in 2020.

I like a lot of the things JC likes, but not all.

Because principles don't equal competence. Above all the leader of a major political party needs to be competent at leading a party.

And in my view the failure to evolve your politics over the years in response to a changing world is not principled, it's an example of a lazy thinker.

Wow, I think it's amazing how many new members signed up to tbeLabour party because of him, and I think trying to oust him to get back to 'the way it's always been' just shows a complete lack of imagination in politics.

I don't want the way it's always been. I don't want my vote not to mean hardly anything, no matter who I vote for I never have a direct impact at Westminster. The policies I vote for get forgotten or badly implemented. The politicians are corrupt, and no matter how low I set my expectations they always slither below the bar, both locally with my own (fucking Tory) MP and nationally.

JC actually mentions constituents in his PM Qs. He actually leaves London and meets with real people. He doesn't hide away in a posh white boy bubble, putting on a different coloured tie to the other posh white boys to pretend he's so different, acting like it's all a game and not real people they're affecting.

I don't want that misogynist Owen Smith anywhere near any real power. Men like that only get nastier as their control increases.

I am excited and hope he won. He is a true alternative and very electable (how often has he lost). I am really worried that he might not win considering how the Guardian campaigns against him.

Lalsy, I'll give it some time before deciding whether I can stay in the party. I don't think there's much point at the minute, a clear majority of members are determined that all signs of coming crushing defeat should be ignored. But hopefully people will become more pragmatic.

Those of you who are optimistic that he will lead Labour to Victory, which of his policies do you think will persuade the large number of Tory voters needed to win an election to switch to Labour?
