Any UKIP supporters on here? What exactly are you voting for?

I confess I don't know what the UKIP policies are, but wondered if the people voting for them could explain to me what they are please. Thanks.

Actually, it's all right to be left wing. It's never alright to be anything.

Although if you vote UKIP, you are simultaneously right wing whilst clearly not being right. All right? Wink.

RubyGates · 11/05/2013 08:18

Well, to my mind, the steady creep across an entire continent, the removal of sovereign principals and the impositon of unelected technocrats suggests a certain mindset which is very rarely alluded to.

If anything, surely it's the European Rule that is more akin to the original principals of the National Socialist concept of lebensraum?

ironman · 11/05/2013 22:52

Hitler=National Socialist Party, and that's a fact.Grin

gabsid · 12/05/2013 10:26

I don't get why some people keep dwelling on what certain parties call themselves.

ComposHat · 12/05/2013 10:50

gabsid

It is proof positive that a little knowledge is a dangerous thing.

RockJock · 19/05/2013 12:54

Here are some of the things UKIP stand for.

www.richardcorbett.org.uk/theres-something-about-ukip.pdf

Here in Scotland, they got 0.28% of the vote.

In England 25% of the vote.

Better Together?

I don't think so.

Scotland needs independence in 2014 before England takes us out of Europe and is run by these misogynist climate change deniers.

RubyGates · 19/05/2013 13:41

But don't you think, Jock, that we should both (England and Scotland) get the chance to vote on whether we want our larger neighbour to maintain its stranglehold on our sovereignty?

Many of you want to get rid of us, many of us want to get rid of them.

The best way to find out who is in the majority (because we both live in a supposed democracy after all) is to have a vote. Surely.

RockJock · 20/05/2013 00:35

Are you joking Ruby?

England respect Scotland's sovereignty?

I mean the Scottish parliament has a vote to reject the storage of europes largest nuclear weapons arsenal 30 miles from Glasgow and Westminster ignores it.

they don't care.

Why not park it in Dartford, and see how long it takes before people complain?

We follow the principles of Scots law and release a dying man, who in many people's opinion was framed for the Lockerbie bombing and was about to be cleared by an appeals court, only for David Cameron to criticise the decision. Again no respect.

Now we have Cameron telling the people of Scotland "union is good" and telling England "euro union is bad, we want powers back"

How two faced can you get?

Earth to David, we want our powers back, and you can have your WMD back in the process.

RockJock · 20/05/2013 00:42

Anyway, what happens if Scotland votes no in 2014 and rUK volutes out in 2017?

All opinion polls show Scotland wants to stay in Europe.

The difference in opinion between the two countries is too big on too many issues. Scotland, is too small to ever have an influence on UK policy, so its time for a friendly divorce.

RubyGates · 20/05/2013 07:16

Europe don't care either. The UK has no sovereignity of it's own anymore. It's the same situation and should be dealt with in the same way. In fact it's ironic that you can't or won't see the parallels.

Most commentators suggest that Scotland will have to negotiatie its own memebership of the EU regardless of whether the UK is still part of the EU when/if Scotland secededs. You won't get a free ride into Europe.

www.publicserviceeurope.com/article/2834/eu-no-automatic-membership-for-scotland

RubyGates · 20/05/2013 07:18

I hope you get what you want.

RubyGates · 20/05/2013 07:19

And I hope that I learn to spell secedes properly before it happens Hmm

RubyGates · 20/05/2013 07:21

"Are you joking Ruby?

No, I said that they didn't..... pretty empahtically in fact.

ivanhoe · 20/05/2013 18:59

Both the UKIP and the Tory's, remind me of what I know about world war 2, when the Nazi's demonized the jews ect and we know the outcome of that.

Descrimination in polite society gets buried because it suits us. So you UKIP people take heed.

RockJock · 21/05/2013 00:09

The thing is Ruby

There is no precedent of the EU "expelling citizens". In reality it won't happen, not least because we have been lying for it for 40'years.

They won't expel the country with the most oil and gas in the EU

Nor will they expel the country with the 25% of Europes renewable energy resource.

On top of that they wont expel Scotland because,,according to OECD figures it will be the 6th wealthiest country in the world, substantially ahead of the UK in 17th and ergo a contributor to the EU budget.

Now, if you were Angela Merkel, who pretty much owns the Eurozone, you would be pleased to see Scotland stay. You know, to help with the cash flow. Spain on the other hand can try and object in a bid to arrest Catalonian ambitions, but we all know Angela Merkel owns Spain, Greece etc. they will be doing as they are told. Else, no more bail outs.

So the link you quoted is a perfect example of the state or the establishment trying to flex its muscle to scare and intimidate without any real foundation, in a bid to influence and control through fear.

Anyone heard of the McCrone Report?

RockJock · 21/05/2013 00:10

That should be " we have been paying for it"

RockJock · 21/05/2013 00:20

Sorry Ruby, I forgot to say, Scotland worrying about Europe is pointless.

People here believe in human rights, employment rights, the working time directive, equality rights. We have alignment here.

Our concerns are not about Europe, they are about incidious policies such as the bedroom tax, employments and welfare policies which hurt women hardest, forcing them out of work.

We have no interest in UKIP and its appalling policies of discrimination which don't give women "enough time to clean behind the fridge"

Seriously, when is the English media going to expose these idiots? England and its people, need to wake up and fight for its identity, its values and its future. Its easy for us, we just need to tick a box and be off. You have a more difficult task.

niceguy2 · 21/05/2013 00:56

If heaven forbid Scotland was to vote for independence then I'd very much like to see them as full members of the EU. Just like I'd like to see the UK also remain.

The bit which really confuses me though is that the SNP are saying Scottish independence will be great, we're better off as an independent nation.

Except with the other breath the SNP want to join the EU with all their rules, regulations and 'federal' ambitions.....

And as a new entrant into the EU club, Scotland will have to promise to implement the Euro....good luck with that.

But as we all know it'd be daft to implement the Euro right now and even if Scotland wanted to, they can't do it overnight. So the plan at the moment is to keep the pound for the forseeable future. Well that's logical.

Except by keeping the pound you now have a new independent country which has it's currency run in Westminster where you no longer have any votes. And you can bet the BOE won't be making their monetary policies with Scotland in mind anymore.

So in short Scotland will be voting to be 'independent' except you will be a small voice in the EU happily ignored by France & Germany. And have your currency in London run by people who no longer have any need to consider what you need or want.

It doesn't sound very independent to me.

kyya · 30/06/2013 13:54

people who say UKIP have strange policies havent actually taken the time to look at them in depth, there very sensible on the whole and completely refreshing as the 3 other parties are exactly the same just different names ( same posh schools, same huge bank balances, same self interests for governing the UK), they all work for big business and europe and dont care a fig for the people of the UK who pay tax's.

As for the racist comments thats just ridiculous, I am in an interacial marriage and in no way would endorse anything like that but UKIP has absolutely nothing against any minorities, Just anti eu, their main policy is to leave Europe so as Britain can actually govern itself again and make/ enforce its own laws instead of the appalling rubbish which the communist EU forces on us.

Wellwobbly · 07/07/2013 14:25

Chicaguapa, if you want a good outline of what the issues are, Youtube Margaret Thatcher's Bruges Speech.

(don't let any left wing hatred blind you. However Evil people might decide MT was, she was NOT EVER an idiot).

This speech anticipated quite clearly the current crisis of sovereignty and the single currently.

UKIP is a reaction to the issues outlined at Bruges.

sef10790 · 18/03/2015 07:02

For those if you who are voting ukip, please look behind the smoke screen of immigration and benefit cheaters and find out who their policies will really serve. You'll find out its not the ordinary person. We voted them last time as a protest vote but now realise they are created as a party probably by the tories to catch all jaded voters. I agree there's not much choice but honestly have a look at their policies and you'll realise it will mean a eroding our rights and serving big money earners! Immigration is the least of our problems but their riding on this, its a smoke screen

Seeker33 · 11/04/2015 11:05

The research suggests a lot of them are white working class who think they have been ignored by the main parties

Why not start a new thread sef instead of resurrecting a zombie thread which is two years out of date? Hmm
