When I was at school that exact scenario played out. The perps had no actual idea what they were drawing, nor its history. Admittedly they weren't to bright. They drew the marks on the lads locker too. (it was dealt with, don't worry).

Not saying that is happening now, just there doesn't have to be anti-semitism for such acts.

If someone is drawing symbols on a jewish person's locker, knowing that symbol will upset them because it seems to upset jewish people, even if they don't know exactly why it upsets them, then that's anti-semitic.

If you are doing something to upset or threaten a person because they are jewish, then that is anti-semitic.

It doesn't matter if they didn't know what it meant, it matters that they knew it was upsetting for jewish people and so they went and did it to a jewish person.

Personally I think the 'N' word should be sealed up in concrete and dropped in the North Sea.

This conversation is very bizarre. I only came in because I saw someone ask about more recent anti-semitic activity in the UK and happened to know of some.

I'll go with insensitive, its one of my faults. Intelligence is 118, I've been tested.

In difficult times people turn against other. There is a huge amount of anti Muslim action, much more than anti Jewish in the UK but both are very wrong. People from the Middle East whether Muslim or Jewish should not be a target any more than women or fat people or gays.

UKIP is the only party to expel members who are members of the BNP and I doubt most of their supporters are racist.

Xenia yes this is true - about when things are hard people look for someone (a group) to blame.

Thing is that IME and IMO people tend to be scared of what they do not know. So the answer to all the isms is more mixing, not less.

xenia the only reason UKIP make it known they expel people from the BNP is because they quickly realised it is bad publicity to keep them and it makes UKIP as a party look good for getting rid of them. Despite the fact UKIP hold very similar views, dressed up to sound more palatable.
