Fed up of the cuts? Fed up of the mislead bigotry? This is your sanctuary. Unwind. Vent. Pop over to the frothers thread if you feel like getting organised and doing some proactive stuff or just chill out with a cup of builders tea in a polystyrene cup.

Welcome.

There is one person who has posted on the thread directly to Hully. I admire her courage (most bleating is from names I don't recognise) even if I think she is very wrong.

Maryz I couldn't agree more able the stifling on reasonable discussion. It is right that people say "on the face of this looks like a good/bad thing for xyz reasons. Is there more to it/where can I find out more?" but the hijacking by the militant nutters and the haterz is not helpful.

Some of the supposedly serious posts are so extreme and posted by new names that I can only think they are being deliberately provocative which is trolling.

Getting back to important matters, Shirl, how was the NTAs?

OP posts:
Peachy · 26/01/2012 10:02

Apparently I am lucky coz I am not a Somalian orphan.

Well, yes that is true I guess.

Sorry boys will cease fighting for you, could be worse, you could be orphans you know.

LMFAO

Peachy · 26/01/2012 10:03

Which threaad Shirley?

ShirleyForAllSeasons · 26/01/2012 10:09

NTA's were just as I imagined them to be.

Peachy - HA! Unreal - I'm glad I'm not a Somalian orphan as well. I should stop moaning about xh not paying me any child support because I'm not a somalian orphan.

STFU tactic going on there - you should say so as well - that comparing one set of problems to another worse set of problems is just a way of stifling reasonable discourse.

ShirleyForAllSeasons · 26/01/2012 10:13

"This is amazing, explains Tory twattery in such a simple way"

That thread - total lies but as it's slipping down the active list I think it's best to leave it alone.

Peachy · 26/01/2012 10:21

I agree Shirl

one am one also gone nasty so walking away from that as well

Peachy · 26/01/2012 10:25

Er I just walked away after having a massive go

I did restrain myselff rom wishing them karma though so you know- did OK Winkf

(It's the reality check thread)

deffo time to hide it LMFAO

ShirleyForAllSeasons · 26/01/2012 10:27

Oh I hid the reality check one.

I have only just finished reading the reality check one and am ShockShockShockShockShockShockShockShockShockShockShockShockShockShockShockShockShockShockShockShockShockShock

as well as Angry.

And that was without knowing what all those 'message deleted by Mumsnet' posts said.

The level of ignorance is one thing but wilful goading and nastiness is horrific.

I'm certainly viewing a few posters through different lenses now.

It's the usual thing, isn't it? I did it, so everyone else can.

I was explaining in simple terms to my dc the other day. Take two babies. One is born to a drug-addicted mother in a B&B, one to Lord Arse in his mansion.

Do they have the same life chances?
Will they have the same inner and outer resources to cope with life?
etc
Is it FAIR?

TeWihara · 26/01/2012 11:19

It's always been unfair, and it's always been something difficult to deal with, though it is still absolutely bonkers to be jealous of someone who has zero opportunities compared to you.

The added dimension now is that really anyone who hasn't got millions in the bank is utterly fucked if their life goes just a little bit wrong, no matter how hard they've worked.

Hullygully · 26/01/2012 11:20

From each
To each

So old-fashioned

Peachy · 26/01/2012 11:58

No no it's not Hully. The decency WILL emerge agin! Personal wealth and self pride is just the new golden calf and all that; empathy will prevail.

Either that or like last time the Tory voters will start whining that there are homeless peopel in their sightline and if the Government doesn't hurry up and do something Phil Collins will be forced to make a record and that will teach 'em!

Peachy · 26/01/2012 12:16

How about a thread entitled 'AM AIBU to tickle tory voters with a feather at election time so they will be CLEARLY UNHARMED IN ANY REAL WAY but forget to vote? DISCLAIMER: THIS IS NOT A GENUINE IDEA I NO HAVE FEATHER MOUNTAIN STORED AND AM NOT ACTUALLY ADVOCATIONG USING BIRD APPENDAGES TO DISENFRANCHISE ANYONE WHOSE DECISIONS MAKE NO SENSE TO ME'

Is that clear enough? Wink

Hullygully · 26/01/2012 12:19

Ooo that's a good one Peachy

BIWI · 26/01/2012 12:42

Looks like I've managed to kill one of lesley33's threads though!

KatieMiddleton · 26/01/2012 13:02

Well done BIWI. I've just spotted another apparently by a doctor who's jealous of her nanny. The figures don't add up but there are enough people going eh? That I don't need to wade in too.

Perhaps we need a thread in chat that is an alternative to active convos where we can post links to nice normal threads and the funny ones?

OP posts:
BIWI · 26/01/2012 13:03

Yes, I sas a bit Hmm about that one too.

ShirleyForAllSeasons · 26/01/2012 13:17

Figures are a bit adrift on that one, but ho-hum.

Time will be when the universal credit comes in and there will be SWATHES of people previously backing the cuts and shrieking about the unfairness of it all - going snooker loppy fucking CRAZY when the pinch starts to impact their own pockets.

It's going to be curious.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 26/01/2012 13:20
TeWihara · 26/01/2012 13:25

I read in the paper today that there is finally starting to be pressure on Osbourne to switch to Plan B as everyone (including the head economist at the IMF is saying the cuts are damaging our economy)

which means that the most likely move he would make is that the tax free threshold might move up to 10k a little sooner.

But that's not going to help anyone earning less than the 8.5kish it's at now.

TeWihara · 26/01/2012 13:26

PS I vastly enjoyed the disembowling. Grin
