CUT & PASTE

Francis Maude, multi-millionaire ex-banker, took thousands of pounds from the public purse when he rented out the Westminster house he owns and bought another one a hundred yards away so that he could claim the mortgage payments on his MPs expenses and get everyone else to buy him another home to add to the four he already had.

That's how much this greedy despicable hypocrite cared about the deficit when he was sucking up public money for himself.
Then is wasn't so much Big Society as Pig Society, with piggy-eyed Francis Maude with his snout in the trough.

How was he punished for his greed? Cameron promoted him.
David Cameron and Francis Maude: 'All In It Together'.
Right up to their effing necks.

He should be in the nick with every other cheating bastard of whatever party

excactly. don't think you'll get much response to this post simply because there's not alot to add to this. only thing to do now is ACT and that means taking to the streets and protesting.

we don't haveto accept this shit but there comes a point where complaining on MN etc just won't suffice. protests can't be relegated to the students who are then demonised by the media. we ARE all in it together; in this shit together so let's get protesting ffs.

Abr1de · 16/02/2011 07:57

Gosh, Labour politicians would never ever do anything like this, would they? 'Cause they're all whiter than white.

Chil1234 · 16/02/2011 09:18

Some MPs have been tried and convicted already. Others were allowed to pay back the cash. If Maude's case wasn't deemed serious enough to warrant a court-case and if he's made the necessary reparations, I don't think hurling cheap insults is bringing anything useful to the argument.

complimentary · 16/02/2011 09:18

Newwave. I thought your were in Tenerife! or are you 'logging' on from there? At least Francis Maude can afford to stay in a 5 star!Grin
As you know Ed (horse face) Miliband and the brother both avoided paying tax on their father's 1.4 million pound home in Primrose Hill. God I hope some Daily Mail readers are giving you some stick on your hols, or are you (wisely) keeping stum?

There all at it!

Apart from the whiter than white MN posters!

complimentary · 16/02/2011 09:36

Chil1234. Those who have commited fraud should not be allowed the 'necessary' reparations' the general public would not be allowed this courtesy. Confused
I stupidly thought the MPS had to be living in the house that we the taxpayers pay for?
Francis Maude? I think his name should be Francis Fraud! Grin

georgeorwell · 16/02/2011 09:38

Abr1de & complimentary why so knee jerk in thinking that if someone dares criticise a conservative that they're automatically new labour supporting? v bipolar of you.

Chil1234 · 16/02/2011 10:19

If it was fraud he'd have been charged with fraud. If he was asked to pay back money and he's paid it back (I don't know but that seems to have happened in quite a few cases) then he's all square. If he's not been charged with fraud and hasn't been asked to pay anything back either then he was operating within the rules as they were at the time.

As an expenses system it was badly framed, poorly managed and open to abuse. But I think it's rather old news to be raking up now...

rabbitstew · 16/02/2011 11:01

It's the fact that a multi-millionaire should see fit to take advantage of a poorly framed, poorly managed system funded by the taxpayer that is what grates somewhat. It's irrelevant whether it was fraud, it's the fact that a multi-millionaire who doesn't need any help to buy houses still sees it as part of his legitimate financial planning and one of the perks of his job to take full advantage of State handouts. It doesn't really fit very well with the supposed philosophy behind the Big Society message.

Abr1de · 16/02/2011 11:15

How odd of me not to read the OP and conclude that he/she was a Shire Tory.

ssd · 16/02/2011 11:20

why are people still surprised the tories are in it for themselves, they don't give a shit about anyone who isn't a millionaire and they just want to keep up the old boys network

all this big society is a load of crap, when people need to work 3 jobs just to keep a roof over their heads the last thing they will think of is volunteering, but DC has never needed to work more than 1 job to keep his family afloat so he won't realise how it feels to work 3 jobs will he

Abr1de · 16/02/2011 11:49

What about all those Central Belt Socialists in Scotland who've been lining their own pockets for decades?

Chil1234 · 16/02/2011 11:54

.... or Labour MPs Illsley & Chaytor - jailed for 12 months and 18 month for expenses fiddling. You don't suppose other Labour MPs might be 'in it' for anything other than purely altrusitic reasons, do you? And as for the old boys' network - Mandelson was the consummate webmaster!

Paul88 · 16/02/2011 12:01

Every time I look in politics I found refutations of any suggestion that anything this tory government does has anything wrong with it.

Someone who is very supportive of the current government - I suppose there must still be some of them out there, but you would think most would be in work (probably banking) and not have time to sit on this forum.

Unless of course he is being paid for his time here...

(sounds like a he)

Chil1234 · 16/02/2011 12:19

It's called 'different opinions' Paul88. The current government is not popular, but some of us are willing to give it the benefit of the doubt. Others would like every thread to start 'all tories are bastards' and proceed with 100% self-satisfied agreement with no naysaying allowed. If I, or others like me, feel the need to inject some counter-arguments occasionally, don't take it personally or accuse us of being hired guns :)

georgeorwell · 16/02/2011 13:04

Paul88 govt lackeys paid to stir up topics to propagandise or to fire off hasty refutations to any govt wrongdoing aren't likely to be found on the politics threads which are (they shouldn't be but are) cliquey and not accessed by the majority of MNers.

they'll pop up in the popular/populist bits. recently there was a thread in AIBU about a friend of the OP who was apparently claiming every benefit going AND was a druggie AND neglected her child. all that was missing was the al qaeda links.

that's more likely to get the kneejerkers going than anything on this section as it conforms to a jeremy kyle stereotype of the underclass and reaches more so that's where you'll find them if at all. the ones on here are genuinely defensive tories.

totally agree with ssd btw

newwave · 16/02/2011 15:32

Comp, I was in Tenerife but only for one week, returned on Sunday, dont know why I said 10 days it was 7, Portugal in June is the 10 day holiday :)

OP posts:

georgeorwell

I dont see "Politics" as cliquey at all. I have only been posting on here for about 3 months and apart from two fruitloops it is great for a discussion/debate/row/punch up.

I also post on "comment if free" but it's like talking to the converted, I just agree with to many posters which is no fun at all.

The UKIP & Tory supporters on here are ok, swivel eyed, foaming at the mouth, just plain deluded or wrong but ok :) :)

GabbyLoggon · 16/02/2011 16:01

Rabbitstew puts it well

In this country no party politicians come anywhere near the Tories for being filthy rich. (The fact that you can name other rich individuals is not the point.)

we all know money talks. Some people like the language big money uses. Others dont.

To just use insutls under a name like George Orwell is an insult to his great writing and memory.

Change to Archer matey

i'll name change then to sue barkingmad or some such.

complimentary · 16/02/2011 18:25

Georgeorwell.Me bipolar? No I'm far from that! Newwave posts, normally criticise the Tories, I don't know who she votes for or likes its none of my business!
The reason I cite Miliband is to illustrate that all the parties are up to this nonsense.

newwave · 16/02/2011 18:29

comp, LibDem for my sins Angry Sad

OP posts:
complimentary · 16/02/2011 18:37

Newwave. if I was wrong (and I'm not) I wouldn't be on here! ( yes and self praise is no praise at all!) Grin

complimentary · 16/02/2011 18:41

Newwave. I thought Labour was bad enough! An intelligent woman like you, voting for wimpy two faced Cleggers, what's going on?
Unfortunately at the next election they may have disbanded! Then who will you vote for? Grin
