You know you've won the argument when your opponent is stooping to cheap personal insults. Calling Danny Alexander a 'ginger rodent' was jaw-droppingly childish and I'm glad she had the good grace to apologise. Silly woman.

He seems to have a sense of humour about it.

From BBC Online

"Mr Alexander wrote on Twitter that he was "proud to be ginger".

The Lib Dem MP for Inverness, Nairn, Badenoch and Strathspey added that "rodents do valuable work cleaning up mess others leave behind"."

Katisha · 30/10/2010 18:31

As the mother of a son with red hair I am so sick of this casual gingerism. And now it appears even politicians use it for a cheap laugh.

sethstarkaddersmummyreturns · 30/10/2010 18:37

oh Harriet, Harriet
You've let yourself down.

Katisha · 30/10/2010 18:40

And you've let down thousands of kids who get nothing but aggro about their hair colour from both other children AND stupid adults.

phipps · 30/10/2010 18:43

It was made worse by the fact she thought she was being funny AngryHmm.

TheCrackFox · 30/10/2010 18:48

Imagine being so stupid as to make that speech in Scotland? Half the people here have ginger hair. I am very surprised at her acting in such a childish manner.

OldLadyKnowsNothing · 30/10/2010 19:04

I'm not. She never was the brightest.

Katisha · 30/10/2010 19:04

So much for the former equalities minister...

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 30/10/2010 19:05

People are surprised that Harriet Harman said this? Shock

I'm not. She's an arse.

Hassled · 30/10/2010 19:05

Not a good day for her, I have to concede - much as I usually admire her. WTF was she thinking?

BelligerentGhoul · 30/10/2010 19:07

She is an idiot. She makes people like Cameron and Clegg look almost human. Foul, foul woman.

pastyeater · 30/10/2010 19:08

Gingerism from the former equalities minister. Quite funny really. The jokes on her though! I am a proud redhead [once upon a time it was natural] Showing her own stupidity just like all the others who bully redheads. Grin

She should have just left it at 'rodent'

Meglet · 30/10/2010 21:42

Un-be-fucking-lievably stupid wasn't it. How daft have you got to be to think that's funny.

FWIW I always think Danny Alexander looks like josh homme from queens of the stone age .

SpringHeeledJack · 30/10/2010 21:44

I too was appalled

it was obvious she meant to say "ginger twat"

[fume]

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 30/10/2010 22:22

Yes, I'm sure it was, given her level of intellect and inability to formulate a coherent and rational arguement.

Doodlez · 30/10/2010 22:26

Ditto Katisha and my ginger-haired DS has been questioning me about it all day. I am soooooooo pissed off about it - he wants to know would she have said blond rodent or brown haired rodent....he's 9 years old.

Stupid bitch.

Katisha · 30/10/2010 22:33

Oh ho ho Springheeledjack

moondog · 30/10/2010 22:34

She is apalling. So fucking smug and holier than thou.
Needs a quick going over in a dark alley.

I think the other word you were looking for, moondog, was hypocrite.

As in, ' a grammar school is the only suitable school for my son' ( rough quote) whilst supporting the Labour line of non-selection.

One rule for them...

She's definitely lost the plot

Hullygully · 30/10/2010 22:50

pore ol rodents
