You know you've won the argument when your opponent is stooping to cheap personal insults. Calling Danny Alexander a 'ginger rodent' was jaw-droppingly childish and I'm glad she had the good grace to apologise. Silly woman.

legostuckinmyhoover you are being incredibly naive if you believe that no-one on benefits is swinging the lead. My own parents live on benefits and have done since I was 6 Blush

Ah, but the difference Dittany is that I'm not in her position, and if I choose to call her stupid on the basis of her completely inappropriate remark, then I shall. I wonder if she would have called him a "black rodent" or a "disabled rodent" - or is making fun of someone's appearance acceptable to her?

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 31/10/2010 22:59

And on that note I am heading to bed

legostuckinmyhoover · 31/10/2010 23:02

well, hudspur you are the first i know of then! by the way, why lucky me?

and, if you read carefully, what i was talking about is the 'language' used by cammeron, this is a fact that cannot be denied surely!

just the same as IDS comments about people who are like me i find vulgar and offensive but to which he has not appologised.

oh and as a matter of fact maisie, there is an organisiation currently writing to the Equality and Human Rights Commission over some of the actuall policies made by the current government. and of course i expect you know all about the fawcett society and what they are trying to do?
just to reiterate, i am not saying what she said was right [again]. but that there are lots of things that are said and done 'by the boys' that no-one blinks an eye at.

soxhound · 31/10/2010 23:26

What it does do is reveal her bullying mindset. No great revelation, though, if you look at the last government's culture.

LadyBlaBlah · 01/11/2010 11:29

All of this arguing about what she should and shouldn't have said does divert the argument away from the simple fact that they guy is a bit of twat.

The meedya did good

Litchick · 01/11/2010 11:48

Nowt to do with the media LadyBlah, HH, landed herself and the party in that one.

Whilst I do think she has had an impressive track record, I also think she has become a leetle too keen on her position. She became part of an inner sanctum who regard themselves as above the ordinary folk...

Time for a change methinks.

LadyBlaBlah · 01/11/2010 11:59

Yeah, nowt to do with the media. Nothing at all Hmm

She is one of the few impressive women in view (sadly), and she makes a small slip up borne out of anger at his sheer duplicity and hey presto she is fucked over royally.

teej · 01/11/2010 12:50

LadyBla a scripted speech does not equate to small slip up borne out of anger. Please.

And it's exactly because of her track record and the way she positions herself we EXPECT more of her.

Personally I hate the rubbish our politicians come out with - the joking and personal point-scoring and paper waving that belongs to a different age. I'd prefer it if they concentrated on working together - all of them - on legislation and initiatives that would generate jobs and look after the UK's population and economy.

We deserve more than to be sold out to the higgest bidder all the time by every party.

beobelle · 01/11/2010 12:59

Harmen has set herself up for this with her holier than thou attitude regarding issues like this.

jackstarbright · 01/11/2010 13:21

"and she makes a small slip"

She has form for small slips though.

Four driving convictions

Proposing an amendment to the Freedom of Information Act to remove MPs expenses from inclusion.

And the 'stab vest' for a constituency walk about incident.

LadyBlaBlah · 01/11/2010 13:41

Would hardly call that 'form' Jack.

Her 'holier' than though status is constructed in the media because she has the audacity to stick up for women's rights. How very dare she?

Be quiet woman Confused

She has been called worse than a ginger rodent in her time I am sure, as this thread shows, where it has been suggested she is done over in a dark alley. Much worse than pointing out someone is ginger.

sis · 01/11/2010 13:52

Danny Alexander is wrong. Harriet Harman's comment was wrong. Moondog's comment was wrong. Three wrongs don't make a right!

LadyBlaBlah · 01/11/2010 14:21

Yes, sis, but who was more wrong?

claig · 01/11/2010 14:25

'Three wrongs don't make a right!'

they certainly don't, they make a left - Ed Miliband, Alan Johnson and Harriet Harman

byrel · 01/11/2010 14:26

I agree Lady that the people advocating she is attacked in a dark alley are wrong but I do think she has overstepped the line on this one. She should be outlining what Labour would do instead of the cuts not make cheap jibes about the colour of Danny Alexanders hair.

soxhound · 01/11/2010 14:30

"Proposing an amendment to the Freedom of Information Act to remove MPs expenses from inclusion." ShockShock Shock I had no idea she'd done that!

And I only knew about one of the driving convictions. But of course these superstars are above the law, aren't they?

sis · 01/11/2010 14:30

LadyBlahBlah, Danny Alexander is most wrong followed by Harriet Harman then Moondog's comment.

Claig nope, it is David Cameron, George Osbourne and Danny Alexander.

Heathcliffscathy · 01/11/2010 14:33

to be fair blahblah, she did rather more than point out his gingerness!! :o

soxhound · 01/11/2010 14:36

Yeah, but you can always put a spin on it, and then she is lovely.
