You know you've won the argument when your opponent is stooping to cheap personal insults. Calling Danny Alexander a 'ginger rodent' was jaw-droppingly childish and I'm glad she had the good grace to apologise. Silly woman.

Is this what you're referring to? If so, you've quoted him out of context. If not, then link please.

I was glad to see Gordon Brown apologising to the old lady he called a 'bigoted woman'. Nice...

huddspur · 31/10/2010 22:25

Whats wrong with calling some people on welfare scroungers, some of them are.

soxhound · 31/10/2010 22:27

Just no respect for other people. Any other people - unless they can help on the way up the greasy pole. I say it again - we've had enough published diaries, biographies, autobiographies, etc which show exactly what these creatures are like. And no shame either.

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 31/10/2010 22:29

Under the Equality Act it's probably illegal to even suggest that some people on benefits just might be scroungers, but making ridiculous remarks about someone's appearance is OK Hmm

legostuckinmyhoover · 31/10/2010 22:30

how is that out of context? that is what he said. he used no derrogitory term to describe 'the rich' did he?

legostuckinmyhoover · 31/10/2010 22:33

i am not saying what she said was ok. i merely asked a question...did he say sorry?

like wise, has IDS ever said sorry for his [what i find]offensive remark about lone parents in reciept of tax credits being liars?

yes, gordon brown did say sorry.

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 31/10/2010 22:34

The comment referred to those people on benefits who are scroungers, not all people on benefits are scroungers. Obvious difference there.

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 31/10/2010 22:35

GB said sorry once he was caught - the arse still said it (and meant it)

soxhound · 31/10/2010 22:36

My last derrogitory comment was describing Harman and Brown by the way.

legostuckinmyhoover · 31/10/2010 22:38

anno the difference is:

he did not say 'rich greedy people' for example, he just said 'the rich' and 'benefit scroungers' [he did not differentiate between benefit claiments], he used negative language about people on benefits. end of.

UnquietDad · 31/10/2010 22:38

Harman's a man-hating idiot, who would never have said this about a fellow female politician.

I'm surprised people are surprised about this, frankly.

legostuckinmyhoover · 31/10/2010 22:39

at least she has said sorry for any offence.

legostuckinmyhoover · 31/10/2010 22:39

how is she man hating??

Vince Cable called bankers 'spivs and gamblers' - does that even things up for you?

I think if you honestly believe that no-one on benefits is a scounger then you've got your head firmly in the sand. We all know someone who's on the take, fiddling their claims or living way beyond their means at the taxpayers expense.

But lets not detract from the real issue here, and that is the previous Equalities Minister thought it appropriate to call someone that.

soxhound · 31/10/2010 22:43

I think when you're up your own arse that much, anyone who isn't yourself seems pretty contemptible.

huddspur · 31/10/2010 22:43

She's made herself look very stupid though

legostuckinmyhoover · 31/10/2010 22:44

thought so.

i guess trying to bring about further equality between the sexes does in fact make you a "man-hater" Hmm

legostuckinmyhoover · 31/10/2010 22:46

how is 'she up her arse that much'? genuinely interested-maybe i have missed something?

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 31/10/2010 22:47

She's not a feminist - she's an arse. She is no more representative of me than Peter Stringfellow.

If you want to assign the feminist tag to someone, at least assign it to someone with some ability and intellect.

Just watch the clip where she calls Danny Alexander a ginger rodent.

legostuckinmyhoover · 31/10/2010 22:49

'We all know someone who's on the take, fiddling their claims or living way beyond their means at the taxpayers expense' -

are you talking about Mp's or benefit claimants there?

actually i know of nobody who is in reciept of benefit who does this.

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 31/10/2010 22:49

Child tax credits are a result of a woefully ineffective tax system that was implemented by the previous government. Making people claim back tax that they needn't have paid in the first place if they'd got their act together, and we're suppposed to thank them?

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 31/10/2010 22:50

Both Lego.

Really? You don't know anyone? Lucky you.
