Multiculturalism has failed, says Angela Merkel. Has it failed in Britain?

"The Approach to build a multicultural society and live side by side has failed, utterly failed". Says Ms. Merkel. Has it failed in Britain? Particularly when we remember that all of the 7/7 bombers were British born? It appears the bombers had no allegiance to this country.
I think it has failed, just as it has in Germany.

THE. Complimentary is right History is now not on the curriculum in thousands of state schools. Many children cannot sit GCSEs in it. This generation is the first to know less about history than the parents!
Can anyone of you learned MNs tell me why?
THE if 95% of country is not from ethnic minorites, then as complimentary says how can thhis country be multicultural. I've had enough zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Sorry , but did you just bemoan the lack of history on the curriculum, and then ask how this country could be multicultural in the same sentence? Closet racists are usually idiots, IME.

TethHearseEnd · 17/10/2010 21:47

Err... let me break it down.

monocultural = only one culture

multicultural = more than one culture

So, if one person comes to Britain with a different culture to everyone else, technically, Britain becomes multicutural. Whether it does that successfully or not is what i thought we were discussing.

Did the socialists ban maths too?

(BTW, History has been an optional subject at GCSE since I was at school under the Shock Conservatives. Were they the socialists you meant?)

complimentary · 17/10/2010 21:49

I've answered your continual questions on Argyle, first you say you've worked as a teacher in Camden, and now you've worked at Argyle? Look if you've you worked for the london Borough of Camden/Moscow, I realise where you are coming from. There cannot be a borough in the country as left wing/biased and red as that one.

WilfShelf · 17/10/2010 21:51

Answer the questions, complimentary. Answer the questions.

TethHearseEnd · 17/10/2010 21:52

Arf Grin

I have never worked at Argyle. I asked you how you knew Argyle. You never answered.

I worked in Camden as a teacher, not a spy.

complimentary · 17/10/2010 21:54

Oh give it a rest, stop splitting hairs you know what people mean don't you? I hope you don't teach the way you write, now I know why pupils in classes are so aggressive, teachers like you are driving them too it!Grin
Thank god, I can send my children privately, a million miles away from the red, red, teachers!

complimentary · 17/10/2010 21:57

Wilself. I've answered scarey teachers questions,(sorry that's another MN) What more does he/she want, FGS!

TethHearseEnd · 17/10/2010 21:58

If by 'aggressive' you mean 'ask questions and wait for a response', then yes, I suppose I do teach like I post. Almost exactly in fact. How perceptive of you.

The difference is, the teenagers I teach answer them.

Please answer the following questions:

How do you know Argyle school?

Are you ok?

Perhaps you'd like a sit down?

Unless the socialists banned chairs...?

daftpunk · 17/10/2010 21:58

Put the spotlight and thumbscrews away WS.

complimentary · 17/10/2010 21:59

Wilself. Justify what you have called me.

TethHearseEnd · 17/10/2010 22:01

WilfShelf didn't call you anything, complimentary- just "Closet racists are usually idiots, IME."

Unless you are a closet racist?

complimentary · 17/10/2010 22:01

THE. I don't have to tell you how I know Argyle school, it's non of your dam business.
I do know it and that is enough for me.
I don't think you ever worked there.

Quattrocento · 17/10/2010 22:02

I banned maths too?

History was optional when I did O levels AFAIK. For those of you who were prevented by Muscovites and other assorted Reds from studying history, O levels are exams that people did a very long time ago.

The O level exams were abolished by Socialists who didn't like the fact that people who were not very bright might even (but only if they tried quite hard) fail them. Discriminated against underachievers.

I think so anyway

complimentary · 17/10/2010 22:02

THE is that what you are calling me?

complimentary · 17/10/2010 22:06

It did'nt take long for the old cheshnut of racism to come out did it? How boring.....

Quattrocento · 17/10/2010 22:07

Complimentary - you are slurring your words and making no sense. Admit it woman. Drink has been taken.

daftpunk · 17/10/2010 22:07

That's a pretty loaded statement. I think it needs justifying.

WilfShelf · 17/10/2010 22:07

Tethersend would simply like to know, for example, complimentary, how you know that 95% of Argyle kids are Bengali speakers.

I simply suggested that usually closet racists like to trot out facts that, when examined, bear little resemblance to reality.

You may choose to put those two things together and draw your own conclusions. I could't possibly comment.

daftpunk · 17/10/2010 22:12

couldn't you? For someone who couldn't possibly comment you comment a lot. Maybe you should calm down a bit.

complimentary · 17/10/2010 22:13

QC. Well if I'm a boozer it takes one to know one! Perhaps you are fond of a tipple?
How am I slurring? Let's face it the caning I've had from my teacher is enough to turn anyone to drink.

complimentary · 17/10/2010 22:14

In fact I wish I was pissed, then I would not bother to reply to nonsense questions!

ravenAK · 17/10/2010 22:15

Mycounty - 'Complimentary is right History is now not on the curriculum in thousands of state schools. Many children cannot sit GCSEs in it. '

Name me a state school which does not offer GCSE History.
