Christian Prayer thread for late Autumn - keep praising when the leaves are falling and it isn't Christmas

DutchOma · 15/11/2008 20:55

A week or so ago there was a post in the prayer thread from TinkerbellesMum which I quote here in full because I think she has something important to say:

"I don't normally post in this section or this thread, but I wanted to share something that my sister's Pastor said a few months ago at a Dedication because on a regular basis I'm logging into MN and seeing it come to truth again and again.

He said that the devil has started an attack on children.

If you look through this year you will see so many children have died in really horrible circumstances, we've not seen anything like this happening before.

Please when you pray can you include our children in general, ask God for His protection over our own, each others' and the unknown child. Ask for Him to send His angels to fight against this attack."

We've only got to remember Baby P to know that terrible things are happening and that the only weapon we have against the forces of darkness is prayer. That is a strong weapon and a weapon that will bring results for the safety and security of our own children but also as TM says "the unknown child".
So can I encourage you all to praise God for our children and to set side a few moments to ask His protection on them, but also to pray protection over the millions of children which don't have the quality of life that they should have.

We then pray for our unborn children:- Swaliswan's, Boffinmum's and of course Tinkerbellesmum's own baby. Also for the other children in those families.

We remember those with health problems:
Belgianbun's sister recovering from an operation. OJ who goes to hospital on Monday to have a lump investigation - please God, no more trouble.
Zipadisuzy's dh who fell off a ladder and has cracked ribs and for Suzy who is picking up his workload.
NSFN struggling with depression, praying that this will not continue all winter.
And we give thanks for M44's ds2 who is on the mend but pray for dd1 who is still struggling with a broken arm.

We pray for those who are struggling with various issues:- CaptainDippy, Peachy, FAQ (praying that her babysitting problems can be resolved to enable her to continue as church organist) and CaptainCaveman.

And so to all of us who are part of this small community and who will always pray for one another:- MaryBS (continued prayer for BIL and MIL), Amber, Jentlydoesit (good news at the eye hospital) Myjobismum (good news about ds's behaviour at preschool), NowWeAreFour (continued prayer as requested for her nanny, PandaG and NotQuiteGrownUp (will she ever?)
Also we remember RevJustabout in her work with the Reluctant Worshippers.
And so we come before our Heavenly Father Who hears all our prayers and answers them in His own way. Thanks be to God

Sorry to hear your birthday wasn't that exciting NSFN.

Praying for NASWMs lo.

Has there been any news on CvQ lately?

I'm still working hard at my essay, I've got a reasonable chance of finishing tonight, but its left me feeling VERY tired and drained. Still, once that is done, I'll only have 2 modules left! Then licensing next October, God willing

ZipadiSuzy · 27/11/2008 09:49

Prayers for ds2, screaming ab-dabs to get him to shcool atm, school have just phoned to say he has settled, he hates all the fuss of the nativity play at school, not keen on performing, (understatement)

Here if you want to chat sweetie. So hard for all involved, I am sure. xx

Had a difficult morning, feel that I am stressing about silly things when way more serious situations are happening. DD3 wouldn't settle for her morning nap, took her over a hour and made me really panic-y and anxious. I am so silly

amber32002 · 27/11/2008 11:50

CD, you're not silly at all. Goodness, I spend enough time panicking...

Prayers for you.

Prayers for everyone else too.

Meeting went fairly well last night - thank you so much to everyone who held it in prayer.

Nooooo, you are not being silly, CD. You simply don't have enough RL support, so that hour when P is asleep is very very special to you. I was juuuuust the same.

Try to tell yourself that it is not your fault, nor Ps fault, if she doesn't want a sleep. Whatever you were going to do will just have to wait a little longer. After all, who needs to relax/have a bath/clean the floors/etc etc. You can do that when she is 5 and at school! Enjoy your little girl as much as you can now, or tie her to the mop, and clean the floors that way!

(I can only say this all now, with hindsight, because now that the dss are both at school, I realise how lousy I felt for the last 5 years, always feeling guilty that I couldn't get done what I felt I needed to. So I was far more stressy/anxious a lot of the time, than I ever wanted to be.)

And I've emailed you, too.

Hello everyone God bless all.

Love and prayers.

Hi all,

Thank you for your prayers for DP, he is feeling much better.

CD - hugs and prayers for you lovey.

NSFN - HAPPY BIRTHDAY def plan for next year...

MJIM - pleased DS is improving in his behaviour.

Hellllooo Sooz hope DS2 settles better soon.

Things ok here, just trying to get things together for Christmas - shopping with a double buggy is not funny...

MaryBS · 27/11/2008 15:14

Oy sooz, can't do my essay in the morning! , will be working on it later - I hope to finish it tonight, am currently up to 1900 words (needs to be 2000-2500), and it needs major tidying up and a bibliography.

Thanks everyone for your prayers though.

Also, an agency phoned up yesterday regarding a possible job. Hours are great, family friendly, doing what I am doing now, but more locally. They want to interview me, only downer is that they might not pay enough. I really can't afford to take a cut in salary, we struggle as it is! I've told the agency what I'm looking for and am waiting to hear... If this is to be, please God, help?

notsofarnow · 27/11/2008 16:23

Thankyou all for your wonderful birthday messages. You are great people. As for planning next year don't see what I can I do dc in school and if df are in work then i'm alone unless i find a man before then lol.

cd you are not silly. I feel like this often, I felt like this earlier when i went into work to take sicknote and they have started building a new bathroom. I felt that when I go back everything will have changed and I wont know whats happening. Then I thought get a grip woman its a bathroom in a place that there wasnt one before. Whats the big deal but thats what depression/anxiety do to you they take away the reality and replace it with unreal but very real fears.

naswm hope that ds is soon well.

All those who also aren't feeling great praying that you soon will.

On a positive front dd's brace is due off 22nd Jan its been a long haul of 2 yr 9 months in total since we started treatment. The difference in her teeth is amazing.

PandaG · 27/11/2008 17:02

hello all - praying for you CD - as others have said, you are not being silly, is important to you.

praying for you too NSFN, hope you will be able to stand back and see in the middle of your worry that your fears are unreal as you put it.

What's the assignment Mary?

praise from me - work is pretty tough atm, truing to implement new governmental regs, and we are still short staffed. But, as a team we sare pulling together well, and I have been asked to do a intro to our Christmas celebration, explaining the meaning of Christmas, and a prayer and a blessing. We are a secular multi faith pre-school, and i am delighted to be able to share my faith in this way!

MaryBS · 27/11/2008 18:15

Please pray for guidance on this job for me. They are not going to be able to meet my current salary, but there is the possibility of less stress (but no guarantee on that! It might be just as stressful!), not so far to travel so reduced petrol costs. The agency have said they MIGHT be able to go up a bit more, I guess its at least worth a look? Hours are 22.5 per week compared to 21.25 per week... but I'd save that in journey time.

MaryBS · 27/11/2008 18:16

Sorry Panda, the assignment is "Disability Ethics"

Argh re: job! Jobs like this are few and far between, shame the money is so bad!

PandaG · 27/11/2008 18:50

can you go to the imterview and see what it feels like? DH went to an interview not entirely sure he wanted the job, but having had the intervoew and met the people he reallyfelt it was God's best for him, and was a pay cut.

will pray for clarity and guidance for you.

CaptainDippy · 27/11/2008 19:33

Praying about job situation sweetie - I would just "give it a go" and see what happens. Here if you need to chat

about MJIM's DS @ pre-school

Thank you for your reassuring messages all. you are lovely

Where's DO!!!?

Notquitegrownup · 27/11/2008 21:26

Evening all. Prayers for your job interview, Mary, and your essay too.

Now, NSFNs birthday for next year. My suggestion: long bath in the morning, with chocolates, and radio. Book in for a facial/pedicure/full body massage at local sports centre/beauty place as special treat to self. Call in at local library to choose DVD suitable for all family (£3 per week usually, though ours sell off used DVDs at £1 each, so I usually buy 3!) Brisk walk in fresh air and collect dcs from school. Sit everyone down and produce 2 bags of Sainsbury's popcorn (£1 per bag) to eat whilst DVD is running. Cheaty dinner which involves no cooking, and minmal washing up - pizza and salad, followed by large chocolate cake? Chinese lemon chicken (takeaway style but cheaper) from Sainsbury's (cook own rice/peas). Kids to bed. More chocolates for self. Bed with a very good book.

Howsat?

NQGU - bed with very good book and large bottle glass of wine!

PandaG · 27/11/2008 22:08

Oh and Mary - congrats on winning the haircut! enjoy (wonder if you can keep it for next October for your licensing?)

MaryBS · 27/11/2008 22:24

Unfortunately its a child's haircut, I think it might be taking "unless we become as little children" a bit far!

OK, I THINK the essay is done... I need to look at it afresh another day, because I'm all "done in"! Oh, and add a bibliography! Praise God! I DO hope its OK, I really struggled with ethix...

PandaG · 27/11/2008 22:28

if you want to mail me for a pair of fresh eyes on itb happy to take a look, but am away over the weekend...x
