Mumsnet prayer thread for July

Since the last prayer update there have been three bereavements on this thread alone Onlyjoking's Steve, MartianBishop's husband (who had been presented with his MBE just days before his death) and Evenstar's husband who died very suddenly while away from home.
Our prayers are with them. Special prayers for OJ as she battles with difficult relations. Praying that she will be able to get everything done before she goes away on holiday to Lanzarote to scatter Steve's ashes in a place where they have been very happy.

Praying for CaptainCaveman and MyJobismum as they expect their babies. Praying that there may soon be a positive, acceptable offer on CC's house.

Health problems:- CaptainDippy with a persistent cough. Things are not easy for our Dippy at the moment, please, if you can, concentrate your prayers on her and her family for a wee while.

Podmog can be in a hard place from time to time. Things are looking up, but it's going to take time and patience.

Swaliswan will receive treatment for a longstanding problem, but no problems have been discovered after extensive blood tests.

I haven't heard how PandaG's mum is doing after her lung operation.

We also pray for Nicole, Mary's friend who was taken ill with meningitis while in Cyprus. Her life hung by a thread, but over the past few days she has held her own.
Continuing prayers for Mary's friend Marg who suffered three grievous bereavements in a very short time.

We pray for Suzy that she may be delivered from Trojan Horses. Lord what did we do before we had computers?

We pray for Amber, that she may find the right way to communicate .

We pray for Mary in her studies, giving thanks for recent successes. Also for Weegiemum and Weegiedad, who passed exams at the end of the academic year.

We pray for Notsofarnow and FAQ for wisdom in newly developing relationships.

Welcome to newbies bealcain (and her friend), justabout and PurpleLostPrincess. Hoping to hear more from Bottersnike whose dh40 posted to ask for prayers in a very sudden difficult illness, which fortunately resolved itself quickly.
We give thanks for all on the board who pray for us Notquitegrownup who 'flies by', Jentlydoesit (Podglet), Mufti, Roseylea and Astrophe

And we pray for all of us that we may be true servants of the one living God in the care we give to each other in prayer and practical help.

I am sorry to post and run.

I am flying to Canada today and am terrified. Please pray for me that we arrive safely and that I don't have a heart attack from fear - it feels like I might at the moment!

Thank you all so much, may God bless you.

Notquitegrownup · 25/07/2008 08:44

Praying Chibi. I had a friend praying for me earlier this year when I flew longhaul and it really did help enormously.

Good morning all.

My vicar wants me to meet eight people I've never met before at church tomorrow, in a meeting for 15 minutes before the service starts. 6 new 'supporters' and two Ministers, plus the vicar. Nine people and me...and I have no idea what the meeting will be like and then I have to manage the service afterwards Oh my! But it's easier than six individual meetings, I think.

CaptainDippy · 26/07/2008 08:07

Woah amber that's a bit undertaking fory ou;but yes, easier than 6 mini meetings, I think. Praying. xx

Good news about ilana's LO CC Praying for labour to commence asap xx

MaryBS · 26/07/2008 13:32

I've been a bit busy lately... , but want to add a "Praise God" as DH has just had a decent payrise which will cover our increase in mortgage payments (we've just come off a fixed rate). Money situation still not brilliant, but that really helps!

I just had a look back and can't see that I posted how my sermon went. It was received REALLY well, I had a lot of compliments, including someone who said it was my best yet, both in terms of delivery AND content, and was REALLY relevant. The service I took was extremely nervewracking and I DID make a few mistakes (including leaving out a Glory be... after the psalm ), but who wouldn't have been nervous with my vicar sitting at the back taking notes? . Especially when his head "snapped up" at the end, to see how I did the blessing (am not allowed to bless). The 2 services really took it out of me, because I put so much effort into my delivery, and I've been extremely tired, but am feeling better now. I haven't had vicar's feedback YET though , apart from a big thumbs up for the sermon, as he's been away...

Have been remembering you all in my prayers. No news of Nicole, will probably know more tomorrow...

ZipadiSuzy · 26/07/2008 14:49

Mary - Congrats on 2 services, now relax!!!!!

I've just come back from work swimming teaching for 3 hours, I am also tired, like you I put everything into it, it is a physical work out, demonstrating for 3 hours!! and projecting voice constantly!!

Perhaps I might have lost a few pounds

Well, have just sent dh to get some cider, we are going to relax in the garden and do NOTHING!!!! for a change.

Happy Sunny Saturdays
love soozi
xxxx

ZipadiSuzy · 26/07/2008 14:51

DutchOma · 26/07/2008 16:51

Let's know how you got on Amber. From what you have told us it sounds like a bit of nightmare, so major kudos if you survive to the end of the service.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DO , HAVE A LOVELY DAY

DutchOma · 27/07/2008 10:55

Thank you all. Actually, it's only the party we are having today, my actual birthday is on the 29th when we'll be in Bristol for a funeral. A very elderly (94) relative of Bob's, so early birthday wishes are wonderful. So is the weather, I'm so grateful, because there will be 15 of us for tea, including Zac.

DO, Happy unBirthday for today! But sad to hear about the funeral.

Heaven defend us from vicars...

I arrived in the main church room, the vicar shook my hand, introduced me to four ladies stood at the back, explained that two others weren't there, and said, "Well, I'll leave you to it, shall I?" and nipped off. No idea where the NSMs were that I was supposed to meet either - no sign of them or explanation. So, I was left to run my own meeting in the middle of a through-route with all the other people arriving around us in the church, on a subject of such a personal nature. The ladies were lovely, though. In the service I sat with two of them, and they are very friendly and kind, so I think he's made some good choices. But of all the ways to help someone with an ASD to settle into support, that has to rate as something quite extraordinary.

I'm tired and I have a headache. But thank you for your prayers. I did get through it and I've found lovely people. Or at least I hope they're lovely.

CaptainDippy · 27/07/2008 14:02

Glady ou got through it amber! Glad the people were lovely - I am sure they were / are

Happy UnBirthday DO

Notquitegrownup · 27/07/2008 14:15

Hope you all enjoy the sunshine today. God bless.
