Mumsnet prayer thread for July

Since the last prayer update there have been three bereavements on this thread alone Onlyjoking's Steve, MartianBishop's husband (who had been presented with his MBE just days before his death) and Evenstar's husband who died very suddenly while away from home.
Our prayers are with them. Special prayers for OJ as she battles with difficult relations. Praying that she will be able to get everything done before she goes away on holiday to Lanzarote to scatter Steve's ashes in a place where they have been very happy.

Praying for CaptainCaveman and MyJobismum as they expect their babies. Praying that there may soon be a positive, acceptable offer on CC's house.

Health problems:- CaptainDippy with a persistent cough. Things are not easy for our Dippy at the moment, please, if you can, concentrate your prayers on her and her family for a wee while.

Podmog can be in a hard place from time to time. Things are looking up, but it's going to take time and patience.

Swaliswan will receive treatment for a longstanding problem, but no problems have been discovered after extensive blood tests.

I haven't heard how PandaG's mum is doing after her lung operation.

We also pray for Nicole, Mary's friend who was taken ill with meningitis while in Cyprus. Her life hung by a thread, but over the past few days she has held her own.
Continuing prayers for Mary's friend Marg who suffered three grievous bereavements in a very short time.

We pray for Suzy that she may be delivered from Trojan Horses. Lord what did we do before we had computers?

We pray for Amber, that she may find the right way to communicate .

We pray for Mary in her studies, giving thanks for recent successes. Also for Weegiemum and Weegiedad, who passed exams at the end of the academic year.

We pray for Notsofarnow and FAQ for wisdom in newly developing relationships.

Welcome to newbies bealcain (and her friend), justabout and PurpleLostPrincess. Hoping to hear more from Bottersnike whose dh40 posted to ask for prayers in a very sudden difficult illness, which fortunately resolved itself quickly.
We give thanks for all on the board who pray for us Notquitegrownup who 'flies by', Jentlydoesit (Podglet), Mufti, Roseylea and Astrophe

And we pray for all of us that we may be true servants of the one living God in the care we give to each other in prayer and practical help.

Morning ladies, many thanks for your prayers and I'm pleased to say that Praise God, all is well

Arrived at the assessemnt unit (which is added on to labour suite) as planned. Was seen by a lovely student mw who did all the checks - of course urine was negative to protein and of course, bp was back to near normal (although I was not impressed with being called 'hun' 'chick' and 'darling' by said student mw!) Monitored on the CTG for an hour and is well with baby 'Jerry' too. Then had to wait 2 hours to see the dr. Dh arrived with ds after about 1.5 hours so they ended up waiting with me for an hour and 3/4 - dh is not known for his patience so you can imagine the 'fun' of explaining why other ladies may be more of a priority than me!!

The curtains-which-double-as-sound-proofed-walls made me smile - I heard the mw's saying what a fantastic trace I had produced (CTG), text book in fact (not that I can claim any credit for that!). And when the student said to the mw that I was booked in for cs again for another breech, her reply was "ooh, funny uterus"

Anyway, the long and the short of it is they are waiting for my blood test results and will ring me if there is a problem, otherwise they call me back to clinic next week. In the meantime, if I get any more headaches like the ones which wake me up, or abdo pain, or anything that worries me, or I go into labour etc etc, I am to call straight back and go in to be checked. Phew. Glad to be home.

Catch up with the thread later - I've not long woken up so must go and get some food!! Love and prayers to you all on this glorious day x

Will go back to Docs, but really think there is nothing they can do Just woken up after a lie down while DH gave DDs tea, feeling a little better Going to try and go out tonight, but will come straigt home if feeling horrid. Thank you for prayers. xx

JentlyDoesIt · 23/07/2008 19:26

Praying for our lovely Captains...

And for you MJIM, think I would have liked a home birth but alas, my babies were difficult and it was hospital all the way!

CD - Arundel is one of my favourite places EVER! I mamanged to make it up the hill to the Cathedral at Easter when I dragged DP and DS there for the day whilst we stayed at Gran's bungalow. We got there a bit early and the whole place was shut! We used to go loads when I was little. I love the way that the whole town appears as you drive toward it on the A27. Sorry, will stop rambling now!

fab news - the bungalow has sold! Been bought by a lovely elderly couple who have also asked if they can have the majority of the furnishings as they love the way the rooms look! My Mum and Aunts are so relieved if sad to see it go (as are we all)

DutchOma · 23/07/2008 23:12

That's good news, Jen.
CD, I don't know whether the GP can do anything more for you, it just doesn't sound right that you are coughing such a lot and feeling so tired. Has it been established that you are not anaemic (sp)? Have an infection elsewhere? He told you to come back if it didn't get better and that is ages ago. Stern Oma look

CaptainCaveman · 24/07/2008 08:56

Stern Oma Look is joined by Stern Finger Wagging CC . CD you must go back to the GP as it is not normal to constantly feel and be so ill. At the very least it will get us off your back and stop the nagging

Cons appt today (hospital rang yesterday to ask me to go for appt today) so we'll see what he says. If you want a giggle then check the cankles/swollen leg pics on my profile . Felt like my arms were swollen yesterday too.

Waiting for the sun to arrive in Notts - a bit cloudy and grey atm. Suppose I'd better get on with the ironing .

God bless you all in everything you are doing today.

DutchOma · 24/07/2008 09:51

I hope you are sitting down doing that ironing CC
May God bless you all

FAQ · 24/07/2008 12:43

wow - god really does answer prayers doesn't he - even the silent ones that you never actually dare to utter.

As you know the other day i was faced with a dilemma of using £48 of the £64 I had saved for spending money on holiday. Thankfully DP stepped in and helped me out and told me he was going to give me some spending money for me and the DS's anyhow - but I could just used the £50 he gave me to top up again (still waiting to hear from H as to whether he's going to pay for 1/2 of the wasp removal cost).

Anyhow, so I was back up to £64 (for 7 days for 3 DC and myself - not great - but doable).

Today i checked my account for the Tax Credits and discoverd and extra payment - turnes out we were underpayed on our joint claim last year and now the renewal has been done they've given me the money owed to us.

So took out £40 of it to add to the £64 - my parents have said they're going to give me £15 (£5 for each of the boys) for it too.

AND I realised on Tuesday afternoon that i had £10 of clubcard vouchers sitting in the house - so used them to get £40 of days out vouchers which will cover the entire cost of going to Sea Life in Great Yarmouth.

Just shows a little faith can go a long, long way

CaptainCaveman · 24/07/2008 13:39

Thats fab FAQ - isn't God great!!!! Hope you have a fabulous time.

CD will go and look you up now on FB!!

JentlyDoesIt · 24/07/2008 15:39

Hey CC - I'm one of Dippy's friends if you'd like to look me up too! Hurrah for not doing the ironing! We've just put the gazebo up, which probably means it will rain for the next 3 months now!

CaptainDippy · 24/07/2008 16:32

Oh FAQ Thank you for that - it's given me a "good nudge" iykwim!!?

Just woken up. Friend's baby was gorgeous (not broody though ) .....

FAQ · 24/07/2008 17:28

your welcome CD.

oh and I've just remembered that ShelleyLou who I'm going on holiday with is going to give me the £30 towards the shopping which we've ordered to be delivered just after we arrive - so I can add that £30 in too

DutchOma · 24/07/2008 18:03

I hope you all have a wonderful holiday. Have all the wasps gone now? It would be sad if they could not go out and play. When exactly are you going?

OP posts:
DutchOma · 24/07/2008 18:04

I mean it would besad if the children could not go out to play, not the wasps.

FAQ · 24/07/2008 18:42

Thanks DO.

Yes no sign of any wasps - had the back door open all day today, we had a BBQ out there on Tuesday night, and the DS's have been out playing today [smile

We're going a week on Saturday - boys are really excited - and I've just remembered (this very minute) that I'm supposed to be figuring out how to get the 4 of us up to Kettering for 10am on the Saturday morning (and how to get home again the following saturday afternoon LOL).

CaptainDippy · 24/07/2008 19:48

It'll be a blast FAQ

Couldn't find you on FB either CC Was searching under ES - is that correct!!? I am definitely DP on there!!

DutchOma · 24/07/2008 21:43

FAQ, if you find the postcode for the bus station in Kettering and your own and type them into this you get a door to door instruction. it's wonderful
