Mumsnet prayer thread for July

Since the last prayer update there have been three bereavements on this thread alone Onlyjoking's Steve, MartianBishop's husband (who had been presented with his MBE just days before his death) and Evenstar's husband who died very suddenly while away from home.
Our prayers are with them. Special prayers for OJ as she battles with difficult relations. Praying that she will be able to get everything done before she goes away on holiday to Lanzarote to scatter Steve's ashes in a place where they have been very happy.

Praying for CaptainCaveman and MyJobismum as they expect their babies. Praying that there may soon be a positive, acceptable offer on CC's house.

Health problems:- CaptainDippy with a persistent cough. Things are not easy for our Dippy at the moment, please, if you can, concentrate your prayers on her and her family for a wee while.

Podmog can be in a hard place from time to time. Things are looking up, but it's going to take time and patience.

Swaliswan will receive treatment for a longstanding problem, but no problems have been discovered after extensive blood tests.

I haven't heard how PandaG's mum is doing after her lung operation.

We also pray for Nicole, Mary's friend who was taken ill with meningitis while in Cyprus. Her life hung by a thread, but over the past few days she has held her own.
Continuing prayers for Mary's friend Marg who suffered three grievous bereavements in a very short time.

We pray for Suzy that she may be delivered from Trojan Horses. Lord what did we do before we had computers?

We pray for Amber, that she may find the right way to communicate .

We pray for Mary in her studies, giving thanks for recent successes. Also for Weegiemum and Weegiedad, who passed exams at the end of the academic year.

We pray for Notsofarnow and FAQ for wisdom in newly developing relationships.

Welcome to newbies bealcain (and her friend), justabout and PurpleLostPrincess. Hoping to hear more from Bottersnike whose dh40 posted to ask for prayers in a very sudden difficult illness, which fortunately resolved itself quickly.
We give thanks for all on the board who pray for us Notquitegrownup who 'flies by', Jentlydoesit (Podglet), Mufti, Roseylea and Astrophe

And we pray for all of us that we may be true servants of the one living God in the care we give to each other in prayer and practical help.

oooo morning ladied, could do with a quick prayer this morning,

Had a fantastic afternoon yesterday - new man took me clothes shopping (new dress, shoes, and bra to go with the dress ), then had a lovely 3 course meal, and hit the town afterwards. Didn't have much to drink, so I know it's not that, but I've woken up with a very dodgy stomach (I thought I was going to be sick last night felt extremely nauseous) , he doesn't feel too well either.

We both had some Lobster (ooo yes I know very posh ) and it was the only thing we had to eat or drink the same so think it could be that. I have a really manic week, the DS's will be coming back at 6pm tonight and food poisioning is that last thing I need right now.

Thanks

hi

can i ask you to pray for me, i'm having a bit of a wobble faith wise at the moment, several things are really stretching my faith at the moment and i'm struggling to get past them. Everything just seems like an unhill struggle and that there is obsticle followed by obstickel in the way.

thanks

CaptainCaveman · 13/07/2008 21:40

Thanks for lovely new thread DO and I echo all the praises to God for many new prayer request being posted on here too. Thank You God that we have this community, and Thank You also that others feel comfortable to ask us to pray with and/or for them.

Belated Happy Birthday CD You and your family are always in my prayers.

The couple who liked our house have decided to buy another. I was disappointed but I know God has THE masterplan so although I remain frustrated, I pray that His plan will soon be revealed.

Prayers much appreciated for ds' tonsils - they are v swollen and Praise God he doesn't seem bothered by them. Praying they go down again without him becoming unwell.

ooooh, need to share this with you. As ds and I left church today a middle aged man we haven't seen before was walking up the path to church. He had a sandwich, a banana and an apple in his hand. He offered the apple to ds, who wasn't looking, so I said "Tom, this man is talking to you". The chap asked what ds' name was, so I told him. He clasped his hands together and openly said "father bless Thomas" then gave ds the proffered apple, which he took. We said thankyou and goodbye, then ds said "mummy, was that Jesus?". Do you know, it took me aback! I think it might have been

DutchOma · 13/07/2008 22:25

nameychange, praying that God will clear 'everything that so easily hinders' out of the way so that you 'may run the race with perseverance' Quotes from letter to the Hebrews

It's a shame that your house didn't get sold CC, but think what a lot of hassle it would be to have to move so soon before or after the birth of your baby. at Tom's encounter with 'Jesus'. On a few occasions I have thought I met with an angel, but not the Lord Himself.

CD hope things soon sort themselves out, do talk to any of us if you tink it would help

Please also pray for a situation that has arisen at work where it has been realised that I have been contracted for 16 hours a week and only working 15 hours for the last 18months. Not a clue what is going to happen about it but would be really good if a line could be drawn under it and start doing the right hours from now.

Also I walked into one of the bays today and three of the patients were standing in a circle holding hands and praying. Two of the ladies I have had opportunity to speak to and they are God filled people one of them was on the ward a few months back and had opportnity to pray with her back then. She has given me a bookmark today, so maybe i've met with angels too

Hi all,

CC - prayers for you and the anxiety and a big at DS meeting "Jesus"! How are you feeling today?

Continued prayers for you CD too

NSFN - new job and new chap sound exciting, hope it all works out and prayers for the working hours to be sorted.

A little prayer request for me if I may. I went to the first meeting of a group called "pulling together" today, for new mums who are suffering from PND and the like. There is a special creche run alongside so the mums can concentrate on the course. I left DS and DD with specific instructions (which the ladies running the creche asked for) i.e I left a bottle of EBM for DD but knew she would prob refuse so asked that someone get me if she became hungry. I also left DS in the double buggy becuase I knew he would "acclimatise" better and then be happy to get out and play etc. After 2 hours I thought everything had been ok, to be told that DD had refused the bottle and then screamed for an hour before falling asleep and DS had not been taken out the buggy, given a drink or a snack. He was pouring with sweat and really upset. I got really upset as I want to continue with the course but am now frightened to leave the children there again. Sorry for the ramble

CaptainDippy · 15/07/2008 16:34

Oh JDI I would be beside myself, you poor thing - You need to speak to the organisers and tell them about your concerns - It sounds like this course could be really good for you, but the irony is that you cannnot trust the people running the creche to care for your children proerly Speak to them now. xxxx

DutchOma · 15/07/2008 16:54

Oh Jen, that's just horrible. I used to run a creche and five minutes was all I would ever let a child cry, two if it was a full blown howling and less if Mum had asked to be fetched to BF. And to leave ds in the buggy without a drink, that is just not right. You will have to speak to the organisers of the course before the next meeting and maybe take a note with you next time with even more explicit instructions.
What a shame, because otherwise it would be such a help to you.

MaryBS · 15/07/2008 17:31

I would speak to them jdi, because that is totally unacceptable!

CaptainDippy · 15/07/2008 17:33

Hi Mary and DO! See, everyone agrees JDI - not good enough!

amber32002 · 15/07/2008 19:51

JDI, I agree with you too. No way would I leave children to cry and get themselves upset like that. What on earth were they thinking of

JentlyDoesIt · 15/07/2008 21:18

Thank you ladies, I did think I might have been making a fuss but I have since spoken to the HV who helps run the course (who was not there today) and to the lady taking the course and they could not have been more apologetic. I have agreed to go to the next meeting (in a fortnight as I have to go to London again next Tues) and leave written notes for them. I also won't take a bottle for DD so they have to fetch me when she's hungry. The course orgaiser has also said she will check in on them herself.

My FIL has suggested I tie the notes to the children like war evacuees

CaptainDippy · 15/07/2008 23:12

LOL @ your FIL's suggestion JDI ; but seriously - so pleased that they were apologetic and pleased that you are going to try again

Am exhausted so off to bed, night. xx

I'm not sure it can be considered news that CCM is expecting...

Am feeling rather unhappy with my family. One of my brothers organised a surprise party for my mother, and 2 of my brothers have dropped out. Leaving the rest of us to pick up the cost of hiring the hall, the caterers etc... . Am not feeling very Christian....

for that lady sooz...

Hope you're feeling better soon CD, you know I'm here if you need to talk...
