Mumsnet prayer thread for July

Since the last prayer update there have been three bereavements on this thread alone Onlyjoking's Steve, MartianBishop's husband (who had been presented with his MBE just days before his death) and Evenstar's husband who died very suddenly while away from home.
Our prayers are with them. Special prayers for OJ as she battles with difficult relations. Praying that she will be able to get everything done before she goes away on holiday to Lanzarote to scatter Steve's ashes in a place where they have been very happy.

Praying for CaptainCaveman and MyJobismum as they expect their babies. Praying that there may soon be a positive, acceptable offer on CC's house.

Health problems:- CaptainDippy with a persistent cough. Things are not easy for our Dippy at the moment, please, if you can, concentrate your prayers on her and her family for a wee while.

Podmog can be in a hard place from time to time. Things are looking up, but it's going to take time and patience.

Swaliswan will receive treatment for a longstanding problem, but no problems have been discovered after extensive blood tests.

I haven't heard how PandaG's mum is doing after her lung operation.

We also pray for Nicole, Mary's friend who was taken ill with meningitis while in Cyprus. Her life hung by a thread, but over the past few days she has held her own.
Continuing prayers for Mary's friend Marg who suffered three grievous bereavements in a very short time.

We pray for Suzy that she may be delivered from Trojan Horses. Lord what did we do before we had computers?

We pray for Amber, that she may find the right way to communicate .

We pray for Mary in her studies, giving thanks for recent successes. Also for Weegiemum and Weegiedad, who passed exams at the end of the academic year.

We pray for Notsofarnow and FAQ for wisdom in newly developing relationships.

Welcome to newbies bealcain (and her friend), justabout and PurpleLostPrincess. Hoping to hear more from Bottersnike whose dh40 posted to ask for prayers in a very sudden difficult illness, which fortunately resolved itself quickly.
We give thanks for all on the board who pray for us Notquitegrownup who 'flies by', Jentlydoesit (Podglet), Mufti, Roseylea and Astrophe

And we pray for all of us that we may be true servants of the one living God in the care we give to each other in prayer and practical help.

mjim - much sympathy and prayers for you {hug}

I am feeling battered and bruised, I came off DH's bike this evening, collecting DD from church. I went over the handlebars and have rather a lot of scrapes and bruises, hopefully nothing worse (I still struggle to put weight on one leg). This means our day out tomorrow will have to be postponed

Notquitegrownup · 18/07/2008 22:32

Flying by, lurking, reading, praying . . .

Mary! Poor you. You can buy some stuff to put in the bath which brings out bruising - wintergreen, I think it is. V soothing. Hope you feel better soon.

CaptainCaveman · 19/07/2008 10:24

oooh Mary, sounds painful - how are you this morning? Ouch. Do you have any arnica and/or witchhazel? Prayers for a swift recovery for you.

I am feeling very selfish and wishing this baby would arrive (am now 36+2). Cs scheduled for 18 days but the rib pain is making me want to cry. Can't lie down coz it hurts, thus making sleep difficult. Tired, hormonal and fed up, geez I am selfish!!

MaryBS · 19/07/2008 11:17

I feel better than I did, but one leg is still very painful, altough I can now put my weight on it... up and down stairs is the worst. No, i've nothing like that in...

Sorry to hear you are suffering too CCM - maybe if the baby shifts you'll feel more comfortable {hugs}

I NEED to be fit for tomorrow! Although I might struggle to get up in the poopit!

Definitely not all you were hoping for on your journey, Mary. Prayers aplenty for healing for you, and strength for tomorrow too.

Prayers aplenty for everyone else here as I read through each message.

Not sure what to do about tomorrow and church. Vicar had said he was going to speak with up to 6 members of the congregation about me to see if they are likely to be a quiet support. Not heard back from him, but he may not write until early next week (assuming he remembers this time, or there's any news he feels he can write). So, do I go to church and potentially face 6 disgruntled churchgoers and an embarassed vicar? That would be 'no'. I don't think my reserves would cope. sigh

CaptainCaveman · 19/07/2008 21:47

Praying for you amber, I have no idea what to suggest but of course, He has it all in hand! We are not going to church tomorrow as it's some kind of civic service(???) and there won't be any children's groups - cue lots of bored and LOUD children. Steering clear for this week.

JentlyDoesIt · 20/07/2008 09:49

Hi all,

CCM - you have my deepest sympathy - didn't know you were having a section too. Can't believe how fast your pg has gone! Have you tried putting a bag of frozen peas (wrapped in a tea towel) on the sore bit of your ribs? The cold might shift lo a bit to make you more comfortable...

Mary - ouchy at your fall, hope you are feeling able to climb into the poopit today.

Amber - if you go today, hope you find the strength and the vicar has done as he promised.

Hello to everyone else, things pottering along here. DD is still suffering with tummy problems but all ok otherwise.

MaryBS · 20/07/2008 14:06

Prayers for Nicole. She flew back on Thursday by air ambulance, but nearly didn't make the 7.5 hour flight as her condition deteriorated enroute. They were able to stabilise her, but she now has pneumonia. Her grandmother was at church this morning, and asked where she should sit, so she sat with me...

Notquitegrownup · 20/07/2008 21:56

Praying, Mary.

Please could I ask for prayers for the doctors, currently treating a neighbour? We had a lovely street party today, ending off with an exciting game of street cricket, and this neighbour tripped and fell heavily on the tarmac road, landing mainly on his face. He is going to need a lot of stiches and paracetamol, as it looks as if he has torn the skin on his face and lost teeth too!! He is in casualty now.

DutchOma · 20/07/2008 22:05

Oh, NQGU that sounds so horribly painful. Praying for him and for Nicole too.

amber32002 · 21/07/2008 16:45

Prayers as ever for all here.

Oh my, I may need to lie down in a darkened room for a while.
New vicar has written to say that he's just announced that he's moving churches in autumn and won't be around much between now and then anyway. So I'm back to a succession of passing vicars who may or may not know about my situation and probably won't be able to ensure the service is copeable for me. I'm back to square one again, to quote a phrase. If only I was good at coping with change, or trusting churches to get it right when I've had so many rough experiences already.

Prayers please that I'll know what to do. And thank you for all your prayers so far. They do help.

Roseylea · 21/07/2008 17:13

Hi'yall. Sorry I've been so not here lately! There's been a lot going on! Hope you are all well and I will pray through the tread a bit later.

DutchOma · 21/07/2008 22:05

Just had a wee peep at the CC's ante natal thread and feel much more informed re Dizzy's prayer needs. Praying for peace for you and your mother
Also praying for our two captains, for Amber, is there a quiet 8 o'clock communion service nearby where you can sit quietly at the back and establish your relationship with the Lord?
Rosey, good to hear from you, hope you soon feel better.
Sorry about the job NSFN, as you say there will be other jobs coming up and meanwhile you've got something to hang on to.
Went to support dd at her breastfeeding picnic in London, was fun and very nice weather. My feet are killing me walking dgrandson round and round Parliament Square stopping him from running into the road and trying to get him to sleep in his pushchair.
