Mumsnet prayer thread for July

Since the last prayer update there have been three bereavements on this thread alone Onlyjoking's Steve, MartianBishop's husband (who had been presented with his MBE just days before his death) and Evenstar's husband who died very suddenly while away from home.
Our prayers are with them. Special prayers for OJ as she battles with difficult relations. Praying that she will be able to get everything done before she goes away on holiday to Lanzarote to scatter Steve's ashes in a place where they have been very happy.

Praying for CaptainCaveman and MyJobismum as they expect their babies. Praying that there may soon be a positive, acceptable offer on CC's house.

Health problems:- CaptainDippy with a persistent cough. Things are not easy for our Dippy at the moment, please, if you can, concentrate your prayers on her and her family for a wee while.

Podmog can be in a hard place from time to time. Things are looking up, but it's going to take time and patience.

Swaliswan will receive treatment for a longstanding problem, but no problems have been discovered after extensive blood tests.

I haven't heard how PandaG's mum is doing after her lung operation.

We also pray for Nicole, Mary's friend who was taken ill with meningitis while in Cyprus. Her life hung by a thread, but over the past few days she has held her own.
Continuing prayers for Mary's friend Marg who suffered three grievous bereavements in a very short time.

We pray for Suzy that she may be delivered from Trojan Horses. Lord what did we do before we had computers?

We pray for Amber, that she may find the right way to communicate .

We pray for Mary in her studies, giving thanks for recent successes. Also for Weegiemum and Weegiedad, who passed exams at the end of the academic year.

We pray for Notsofarnow and FAQ for wisdom in newly developing relationships.

Welcome to newbies bealcain (and her friend), justabout and PurpleLostPrincess. Hoping to hear more from Bottersnike whose dh40 posted to ask for prayers in a very sudden difficult illness, which fortunately resolved itself quickly.
We give thanks for all on the board who pray for us Notquitegrownup who 'flies by', Jentlydoesit (Podglet), Mufti, Roseylea and Astrophe

And we pray for all of us that we may be true servants of the one living God in the care we give to each other in prayer and practical help.

CaptainDippy · 17/08/2008 18:51

I've been better ; but not so bad How's you?

mufti · 17/08/2008 18:56

ok, thank you. had a really good morning in church , and a birthday party next door this afternoon, lovely for ds to have other children to play with
just got to try and keep that feeling with me that i got in church..

CaptainCaveman · 17/08/2008 19:52

Hey CD, thanks for asking. We made it to church and I let ds off the leash and into sunday school on his own - thankfully he was well behaved . Ds2 was introduced to the congregation and our vicar said a lovely prayer for us all.

Praise God too for the lovely lady in Clarks shoes. Took ds1 in to get him some new shoes and I mentioned to the lady that the trainers I had him fitted for in May seemed too big, and that he kept tripping up. So they swapped them for a brand new pair, in a smaller size which fit him . How nice was that?!

CaptainDippy · 17/08/2008 20:35

Fab CC and glad church was lovely Glad you had a good day too Mufti we had a church picnic this afternoon which was fun - VERY chilly in the wind though - brrrrr!

mascarpone · 17/08/2008 20:54

Hi. I wonder whether I could ask for some prayers too from you lovely ladies? As a bit of a lurker, I haven't posted before on this thread but have been following your stories and adding you to my prayers.

I found out this morning that my friend's little boy is poorly. He's got a condition called trigonocephaly where his skull has fused together too early, causing brain developmental problems. She's very frightened about the future, and having emigrated to New Zealand with her husband, doesn't have her friends and family around her for support.

Also for me, to have another baby. It's just not happening at the moment and I'm starting to feel a bit miserable about the whole thing.

Thank you!

CaptainDippy · 17/08/2008 21:14

It's so lovely to "see" you marscapone Your poor friend I haven't the words. what they must be going through last night, especially in a strange country without friends / family around When did they move out there? I am praying that there would be light in the darkness for them at this time. Do they have any other children??

Praying for you too. Don't be miserable!!!! xxxxxx

DutchOma · 17/08/2008 21:26

Welcome Mascarpone. Yes I will pray for your friends and their little boy, sounds very scary.
Also praying for you and your attempts for a second baby.

Glad you made it to church CC and that things are not quite so bad now CD. Hope you all have a good week. summer holidays drawing to a close now. Are you sad or happy about it?

mascarpone · 17/08/2008 21:28

Thank you for your kind words. She's been out there for a couple of years now. They haven't got other children - this little one is the longed for baby that they have been hoping for for ages. They have had a lot of problems and issues over the past few years and I think hoped that NZ would be a 'new life' for them. I only spoke to her briefly on the phone this morning so wasn't really able to get to grips with what the condition entails. I have had a bit of a look on the internet this evening and it all sounds very scarey.

How are you doing CD?

CaptainDippy · 17/08/2008 21:39

I'm surviving

So for your friends.

Icanseethesea · 17/08/2008 22:44

Mascarpone - sorry to butt in, but this may settle some fears. My nephew's friend had a similar codition aged 2. He underwent amajor operation to break the bones of the skull, scary but it worked. Within a week he was running around as normal (a bit tired but otherwise OK), and he has not looked back.

Praying for your friend.

notsofarnow · 18/08/2008 08:46

CaptainDippy · 18/08/2008 10:43

Swimming!!? Making dens!!? It is lovely to have you with us! Sun is out here now!! Come to Eastbourne!!

DutchOma · 18/08/2008 10:54

Glad you can see the sun, Dippy. It's better here too than the weather forecast led us to believe and I've got the washing out, so you can blame me if it starts raining again.
Good to see you Icsts(and the sun).
